Turbo Century V This week the legendary Turbo Recordings released the fifth installment of their Century compilation series. This time around, the label’s masterminds have hand-picked the top tracks from Turbo releases 101 through 125, a period spanning over two years from May 2011 to June 2012. The best 25 releases feature everyone from label chairman Tiga to world-cherished house darlings Azari & III to dark French electro prince Gesaffelstein, and showcase the roster’s new cadre of emerging superstars like UK chart-topper Duke Dumont and young Scottish prodigies Clouds. The compilation also highlights the best of the [...]

When EDC NY's lineup was initially released, there was an outcry that the lineup didn't stack up to its Las Vegas cousin. What it may lack in big names (although there are still quite a few) it more than makes up for by providing an experience that is curated for diversity. Bass music is heavily represented this year with Figure and others finding refuge in the Basspod, a hardstyle closing set by Headhunterz is destined to be one of the most talked about experiences of the festival; second only to Saturday's grand finale - a Carl [...]
Chicago house legend Cajmere has teamed up with crackerjack producer Maceo Plex for a new release on Cajual Records, "Calm Under Pressure." The collaboration may seem to have appeared out of nowhere, but it makes sense - Cajmere is releasing this track within a full compilation Too Underground For The Mainstage that includes work with a slew of other next-generation producers like Pleasurekraft, Dyed Soundorom, and Sonny Fodera. "Calm Under Pressure" has an easily definable Plexian bassline, but a certain polish and finesse more attributed to Cajmere's familiarity in the studio. Purchase: Beatport [...]
With festival season upon us, there comes some trouble and heartache along the way. With so many amazing artists, stages, sights and sounds to see, one may find it difficult to conquer it all simultaneously, unless of course you are an extraterrestrial being. Naturally, you must pick and choose your music battles wisely, which is a nerving and tumultuous task. Luckily, LessThan3 is here to lend a helping hand (and ear) for this year's Electric Daisy Carnival New York. Eric Prydz It would take [...]

Set for release in just under two weeks time is the three track 'Pulsate' EP from Jaydee . Featuring the original + remixes from Maceo Plex and Steve Rachmand (& Jaydee's 'Mainstage Remix' on digital release), this is an EP to get excited about . The original mix of Pulsate is packed full of booming bass and a euphoric synth, accompanied with some well placed effects that serve to create a moody atmosphere in this techno piece. As if the original didn't give this EP enough oomph, the Maceo Plex remix is thrown in there for good measure. You can [...]
The first DJ-Kicks mix of 2013 comes from other than Maceo Plex , who has included some extremely rare and classic releases. After more than 3 months of research and music selection, Maceo Plex’s mix for the series is now ready for your listening pleasure, and let me be the first to tell you that it was well worth the wait. Maceo’s DJ-Kicks mix is a fantastic amalgamation of both the future and the past, full of rare, old school house tracks that you won’t find anywhere else, especially online. Maceo has included 10 re-edits [...]
"“For the last three years at least, the big trend has been early '90s house. Everything's a throwback. I think it's the right time to put out something that's a little more deep and futuristic again. - Maceo Plex” Few words can explain what Maceo Plex does behind the decks or in the studio, and this new track collaboration with Mark O'Sullivan showcases this perfectly. This song starts so subtlety with haunting vocals chanting "when it all comes to this", a glitchy beat, and a snare drum and slowly the hurricane that [...]

The Dutch legend that is Jaydee produced some of the most iconic sounds of the emerging acid house scene with the pinnacle the being the epic "Plastic Dreams". Well none other than Maceo Plex has decided to revive some of those classic sounds on his own Ellum label. Being a big fan of the tune "Payback", Mr Plex has given it a spring clean. Not only that we also have the original brilliance of "Pulsate" on the EP as well as Steve Rachmad adding the double Dutch flavour with [...]

Maceo Plex joins the eclectic ranks of DJs and producers on the !K7 roster for the first DJ Kicks mix of 2013. This comes off the back of a stellar year for the american who has seen releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Hot Waves and of course his own Ellum Audio to name but a few. Maceo Plex has stated that the aim of this mix is to highlight the sounds that represent the future. Ironically he turned to vinyl, the format of the past [...]
Can Maceo Plex do any wrong? The Barcelona transplant is like a sonic Swamp Thing, lurking in the darkest and deepest recesses of the house genre and emerging unpredictably to save it from itself. As the deep house world eagerly awaits his DJ-Kicks mix on April 30th, the enigmatic producer has finally released "Galactic Cinema," the dark gem that forms the centerpiece of the "deep and futuristic" sound he claims to have cultivated on the upcoming 18-track release. "Galactic Cinema" finds the Artist Occasionally Known as Maetrik at his finest, welding classic house high hats [...]
Maceo Plex decided he wanted to deviate from his usual deep disco sound and try go for something a little darker and more provocative for a new track which features on his new DJ Kicks mix. “I’m kind of known for a couple of big disco records and some really deep bassline house tracks," he says. "This track is much darker, but still pretty sexy and soulful. The whole thing is dark and futuristic.” Maceo's new track 'Galactic Cinema' anchors his mix, which is available April 30 via !K7 records. [...]

Much talk has been riding around the infamous Resident Advisor video Between The Beats , released to depict the highs and lows of a day in the life of Siberian dance music vixen Nina Kraviz . Even the label, 'vixen', may stir up some opinionated tongue when it comes to the current online battle between Ms. Kraviz and fellow house music maker, Maceo Plex . What began as a short feature to expose a DJ's life when the music isn't playing turned into a battle of sexism, artist expertise, and the use of sexuality to [...]
This preview of the slamming new EP out on Ellum Audio by Jaydee is just what we hve been looking for in techno. We don't know too much about Jaydee except that he shares the same label home as Maceo Plex , Danny Daze , and their funk outfit Jupiter Jazz , but we kind of like that it's more about the music then anything else! The great original track Pulsate and the remixes all do something a little different; and are all dance floor bangers. My [...]

Savor this delectable tune to prepare your palate for Maceo Plex's upcoming DJ-Kicks mix . Due out April 30th on !K7 Records, it promises to be deliciously "deep and futuristic" (to use his own words). "Galactic Cinema" is his exclusive new track to accompany the meticulously interwoven opus of old and new, and it embodies that feeling of duality: it's both dancey and pensive, dark and ethereal. With the aim of creating a sense of timelessness, Maceo Plex, aka Eric Estornel, explains how he integrated music from different eras to achieve an enduring compilation: [...]
Today, we got O' so Deep ladies and gentlemen. You might as well call this one "drowning in the deep". Spring is coming and it's mating season, the time for all of the sexy animals to get sexy. We like it wet, wicked, and weird over at here at Rolling in the Deep. This is one for the books. This is one is for the lovers. Enjoy the music all you man-bears and cougars. (side note: I definitely wrote this intro late one night while hammered because i don't remember it. It's so ridiculous that I decided to keep it.) [...]
House music maestro Maceo Plex has been celebrated exclusively for his deep, disco-tinged tunes, but perhaps that's a perception he's trying to change. Maceo's charting remix to Ali Love's "Emperor" was dubbed "Maceo Plex Last Disco Remix," while his latest preview is a sinister house output entitled "Galactic Cinema." The clacking hi-hats of deep house are still present, but a mean, grumbling bassline drives the track. Maceo says of the remix, "The whole thing is dark and futuristic." Though his much anticipated DJ-Kicks mix is not due out until April 30th, "Galactic Cinema" will be be released on [...]
