De mooiste vinyluitgave van dit jaar is vrijwel zeker Bridges : twee 12 inch picture discs die schitterend zijn bewerkt. Rutger Zuydervelt heeft veldopnamen gemaakt bij vier bruggen in Nederland en aan een achttal muzikanten gevraagd om hierop te reageren. Het resultaat is vervolgens door hem gemixed en over vier plaatkanten verdeeld. Elke plaatkant is van een ander ontwerp voorzien door Gerco Hiddink , bestaande uit een fotocollage van elke brug en de nabije omgeving. Het deed mij denken aan het fotowerk van David Hockney. Liefhebbers van minimal music konden van 30 maart tot en met 3 april terecht in de concertzaal en het festivalcafé van het Muziekgebouw Aan het IJ. Hier stonden de gevestigde namen en de aanstormende generatie naast elkaar op het programma. So many words associated with the process of patination have such negative connotations: the act is a tarnishing, a corrosion, a corruption.
