It's kind of crazy that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are just releasing these visuals for " Can't Hold Us " considering we're coming up on almost two years now since this single was officially released. But I guess with the recent blowing up of "Pawn Shop" and now this tune being heard in commercials and movie trailers as well as all over the airwaves, there's no better time than the present to get a new video out repping this tune. I guess it's no different than the video for " And We Danced " which took [...]

The video has elements of everything you've dreamed of, including jumping into a crowd from a building window, riding camels, pirate ships, and sky diving. I actually am surprised that the first time I heard of them was when they were in SNL. But it was a brilliant performance and I have become a fan instantaneously. Have a listen and decide for yourself if you need to get their album " The Heist " Twitter: @RyanLewis @Macklemore Listen to the originals, I heard Thrift Shop and Can't Hold [...]

I hope everyone had a fun and safe St. Patty's day. Now that all of that alcohol is finally out of your system, it's time to get back to the real world. If, however, you want to feel Irish one more time, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have you covered. I'm sure you're familiar with Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" song, but we made a different post with one of their songs about equal rights that originally got me hooked on this duo. You can check out that post here . Like [...]

You know that old saying when life gives you lemons you make lemonade? Yeah, well that didn't happen to me this week. There weren't lemons waiting on my doorstep Monday morning, there were poblanos. Now I'm not complaining, I mean I love poblanos and all, but a whole bunch of them can't be easily made into something like juice. Believe me. I tried. Don't go there. So instead I spent the week mulling over what to do with a whole bag of poblanos. That is probably the biggest reason why, as everyone else was cooking [...]

Wings is a great track from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis that’s also been featured by the NBA recently… Better said, a sample/re-edit of Wings is used by the NBA. The song itself is about commercialization. Macklemore recently took to Twitter to shout back at hecklers calling him a sellout for having let the NBA use the song. I completely side with Mack on this. Read his thoughts here .

I've always taken the lament, " Music's just not as good as it was when I was young " to mean " I'm just not as interested in music as when I was young ". Over the eight years this blog has run a 'best of', styles have come and gone but there's never a shortage of wonderful sounds. These lists are always subjective, personal and far from definitive. Having witnessed pedestrians breaking out into horse riding inspired dance moves as I took a vaguely embarrassing cycle rickshaw journey up Oxford Street with Gangnam Style blasting [...]

1. Father John Misty - Fear Fun C roce, Skynard, Nilsson, Fogerty and Morrison had a baby and named it Father John Misty. Right out of the gate this album rocketed to the top of my most listened to list. Hooked in by "Well You Can Do It Without Me"'s Nilsson-like flavor and then drawn into the much deeper and more complicated workings of stunners such as "Funtimes in Babylon", "Only Son of the Ladies Man", and... fuck it, the whole album is fantastic. [...]

ILLUSTRATION BY LYDIA CONKLIN 2012 was a spectacular year in music - one with so many records we truly loved that narrowing down the list was difficult. Ordering it, however, was almost impossible. This was a year of shifting genres and experimentation. This was a year that introduced us to some bands that will remain on rotation for years to come and albums that are already on their way to becoming modern classics. Along with the return of many favorites, we were given the debuts from Django Django , Alt J , Frank Ocean , [...]
This weeks Dojo starts off with the most established new names in Trap music. Huglife , who was formerly known as Dj Slink was forced to change his name when a conflict with DJ Sliink ultimately resulted in Slink s Soundcloud page being deleted and losing over 7000 fans. After changing his name to Huglife he is back with a vengeance with this huge remix of Dada Life 's banger "Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker". Be sure to hit up his new Soundcloud page and show him some support. The Tokyo homies Watapachi have been making some pretty [...]

Comin' to you live and direct! You're weekly dose of Party Favor ! Following the success of a hit remix of A-Trak 's latest work, Party Favor returns to remind us that he has forgotten how to sleep. In fact, if it wasn't enough, he's in the middle of creating a massive EP of originals on top of all of everything else, so stay tuned. Forever perfecting his unrivaled bouncey-house-trap-bass remix steez, this guy will not quit until his name is more familiar with killer remixes than Dirty South 's is with Nutella [...]
Released on October 9th of this year Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's newest album The Heist was welcomed with a number 1 spot on the US ITunes download listing. However, before it's release, The Heist was getting major love from NPR and as recently as today, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were given the Ellen DeGeneres bump with a performance on her show. The current wave of success the hip hop duo is enjoying may have been kick started by the viral explosion of their infectious song and video Thrift Shop, but the message the duo wants you to hear [...]

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis gave us a whole lot of uh-mazing tunes yesterday with the release of their album, The Heist . Although there are many fantastic songs on the album, this seemed the most potent in it's message, if not also in its musicianship. Now go, enjoy yourself some political hip-hop.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Same Love (ft. Mary Lambert) Today Macklemore & Ryan Lewis finally dropped The Heist , one of the most anticipated independent album releases I’ve been aware of. These two have methodically built a huge underground following by releasing polished tracks for over a year and touring the country relentlessly. Macklemore’s lyricism is unparalleled and touches on sobriety, gay rights, art, emotion, and his hometown Seattle. I have to say this is by far the most excited I’ve been about an album in a long time. // http://itunes.apple.com/WebObj ects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum? id=560097651
MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS "SAME LOVE" F. MARY LAMBERT 'W hen everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless rather than fighting for humans that have their rights stolen I might not be the same but that's not important no freedom 'til we're equal damn right I support it' I'm sure you've already heard ' Same Love ,' a song in tribute [...]
