Scott Witter Oh hey, it's that time of year again where I realize it's NXNE week and I try to throw together some sort of list of recommendations of acts to go see starting next Wednesday and through the weekend at Toronto's many clubs and club-like venues. And probably because I'm just not as good at keeping up with what's new and interesting as perhaps I once was, it's not escaped my notice that a lot of the recommendations are pretty familiar names hereabouts. Sorry about that. But maybe Beach Day will [...]
![The xx - Fiction [ Video ]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4991160_lg.jpg)
Con ustedes el video de "Fiction" uno de nuestros tracks favoritos del segundo disco de The xx , Coexist. El video realizado por Young Replicant captura una noche en la que Oli Sim deambula por una casa en un lugar mágico, casi ficticio. Enjoy.

Listening to Meridian is like the invigorating feeling one gets when they put a breath strip on each eye. Our optimism is bigger than the approaching doom. Meridian consist of Yohimbe Sampson and Bradley Valentin. The heart's desires, booze, earth treats, and the love of family and friends are some of the driving forces to our musical creations. Our debut album speaks of these experiences. So take a seat, and a relaxing beverage, and enter a world that breeds coconut tress in the city. *** Facebook // [...]
SISTERS CocoRosie are harder to pin down than a greased hog on new LP Tales Of A Grass Widow. The globetrotting American siblings have a real European influence to their work - not least in their vocal stylings which sound like a mutant cross between Sinead O'Connor and Bjork, both distinctive and compelling. And their music, well, it's like a bastard cross between freak folk and brooding urban - like the soundtrack to a robot lost in a forest, or a wandering goblin in a metropolis. You get the idea, it's odd. But still it's oddly [...]

Enjoy.

The film follows Jay’s life from his childhood as the son of an amateur magician, to his successful one-man shows and his film and television appearances. The film also spotlights Ricky Jay’s two most important mentors, magicians Dai Vernon and Charlie Miller. The documentary was directed by Molly Bernstein and Alan Edelstein. It opens at the Film Forum [...]
Spring is in hiatus. My furnace is blasting away, and I'm glad as the house was cold this morning. There was no lingering to appreciate the flowers and the colors in my front garden when I went to get the papers. I noticed a few feeders need filling so I'll venture out to the deck later. One errand only today: dog food and cat litter at Agway. The Red Sox were tremendous yesterday. I wore my green Sox t-shirt and my blue sweatshirt with the World Series Emblem. Rally monkey sat and watched the entire game having nothing to [...]

The Jam Jar , a brand new feature we’ll be rolling out every Wednesday going forward. The concept is pretty straightforward, each week we’ll add a new collection of indie-dance, house, and nu-disco style jams to the jar – the kind of tunes that carry you off into sun-filled daydreams, that are packed full of funky beats and deep basslines, and that most importantly make your day a more enjoyable one. And we're back! Our third installment of The Jam Jar series brings you an irresistible line-up of fresh tunes that will have your feet moving of their own [...]

Ep.539 - That 1 Guy Interview & Fan Reviews @ 3rd & Lindsley - Nashville, TN That 1 Guy Interview & Fan Reviews - Nashville, TN Have you ever decided to stay over at a friend’s house after the party is over? Did that friend suggest watching a PBS special before passing out? At first I was all “Say Whaaaaa”?, but within a few minutes I was completely engaged and tuned into the 30-Minute Music Hour featuring That 1 Guy . I kept an eye on [...]
The M Machine recently took to the Huffington Post to share their opinion on the relationship between computers and music, particularly the rise of EDM in the wake of advancing technology. After the release of their Metropolis Part II EP to a ubiquitous warm reception, it's common consensus that this San Franciscan trio is not your average set of musicians. The M Machine begin their editorial with two distinct points: the ascension of computer processing has led to an infinite canvas of creative, digital expression, and our generation's social media aptitude has fostered an unparalleled virtual [...]
Great mellow song which reminds me a lot of Pink Floyd by Amandla which consists of the drummer from Ween Claude Coleman Jr. His music is as much a 702s tribute as he remixes modern bluesy soul retwisting these themes into his own magic. If you mashed Prince and Lenny Kravitz you'd get his music. This song is off his 2nd album Full Catastrophe . New music coming soon and interesting video projects coming soon.

by Tiana Feng Sunday was the conclusion of Wavelength 132s weekend music series. The audience had not yet grown tired from the weekend. By midnight the Garrison had sold out of tickets. Cell Memory and Castle If began the night with the same sort of droney long songs they played at the Exclaim! Christmas party. Their set was actually really short but felt like 2 songs that went on forever. If a band wants to [...]

Claire Boucher Whereas the Polaris Music Prize already has a seven year track record of honouring the top Canadian album, the Prism Prize is new on the scene - unaffiliated but sharing a similar mandate, but focused on the art of the music video rather than the album. And while some may have assumed the art form was on the decline due to the fact that their traditional medium - broadcast television - no longer plays them, the internet as well as the low cost of entry to powerful high-definition recording equipment [...]

American sleight-of-hand artist Apollo Robbins aka ‘The Gentleman Thief’ visited the Today Show in mid-January to share his pickpocketing techniques. During the segment Robbins pickpockets Matt Lauer, Willie Geist and Ryan Seacrest with ease and reveals how he is able to steal your belongings without you noticing.
IT'S PLAIN that rapper Serengeti is a talented man. The C.A.R album was one of the highlights of the year's hip hop output, especially album closer Uncle Traum which was one of my most-played tracks of 2012. But in case "married, mustachioed and middle-aged rapper" Serengeti has passed you by so far, you can grab yourself a free mp3 download of Shazam! here - Serengeti - Shazam.mp3

Words by Sammy Maine It’s incredibly easy to hate Foxygen . They unashamedly showcase their influences in a way that would make most high-and-mighty fans of 60’s and 70’s rock turn up their noise. Yes, vocalist Sam France does sound a bit like Mick Jagger; yes, they do sound a bit like The Kinks/ The Beatles / early David Bowie and yes, on first inspection they look like they stepped straight out of a Wes Anderson slo-mo scene but delve a little deeper and you may just fall a little bit in love. [...]

Blue Hawaii kickstarted as an experiment between Braids ’ vocalist Raphaelle Standell-Preston and Montreal-based artist, Alex “Agor” Cowan. Their first album, Blooming Summer, debuted back in 2010 on Cowan’s own imprint, Arbutus Records , and was comprised mainly of sun-drenched pop songs that Raph initially described as something like a “project of love.” From what we’ve been hearing, their sophomore record, which is set to drop later this month, is straying away from the sounds they previously presented, taking a left turn in regards to both its production and inspiration. [...]

Ali Biddell It hadn't occurred to me until just now, but there's a bit of a parallel between this site, right here, and Wavelength . They got a couple years' head start on me, but both of us spent a solid decade servicing the Toronto independent music community - Wavelength with a weekly concert series that helped introduce the city and the world to much of the amazing music being produced in the 416 and 905, and chromewaves by, um, going to shows and taking pictures. Okay, perhaps the scale is a little different, but both of us also [...]

Welcome to 2013! Introducing Blaise Paisel , a young indie 5 piece from Kent, formed in late 2010 by lead singer Albury Cotter. Despite their tender years they have already released three EPs and supported Right Chord Music favourites Dog Is Dead . Now they are releasing their first formal single called 'Magical.' We can confirm that it lives up to it's name. Magical could easily become the indie pop anthem for singletons "What's so wrong with being alone anyway?" But this isn't a song that wallows in self pity or [...]
Hello friends, sorry for the late post. Here are some magical songs that are generally about magic. Have a good Friday and enjoy the tunes!
