Building Blocks , un mini album, sort le mois prochain et le merveilleux single Get Up And Let Go [...]
< Day Two << Day One Did I mention that my head hurt on the Saturday? Would you be surprised to know that it hurt on the Sunday as well? Didn't think so. I skipped Beefball, to my shame, and only managed to pootle along to music-related shenanigans by about two in the afternoon. [...]

A lot of new British bands are given plane tickets dumped in the Texas Desert and then forced to play South-By-South-West (SXSW) in Austin to pay for their journey home and simultaneously try to show-off some of the best new music Britain has to offer... here's a run down of my picks for the agenda-setting festival. BEARSUIT MP3: Steven Fucking Speilberg : Speeding South-Eastern indie-pop gets revved up screeching from motorway to dirt-road to railway-track looking for the line that takes them to the sea, smiling throughout knowing they [...]
Heute schrieb Grizzly Bear in sein Blog. Oder es war gestern. Ed Droste sagte: "This new band "Magic Arm" out of the UK. Incredible music. Please download this song". Vielleicht war es aber auch wirklich gestern. MP3: Magic Arm / Outdoor games

Any market research or cool-hunting firm worth their salt would do well to wrangle Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste into their focus groups. The man's got taste, he's got opinions, and most importantly, people follow his tastes and listen to his opinions. Long a champion of emerging artists - as well as those already emerged if we're to think back to the EF interview where he declared his love for Rihanna - Droste has often used the Grizzly Bear blog to help disseminate great new music (and for once we're not talking about the Smash Mouth [...]
My second Fence Night was every bit as successful as my first - weirdness, top new music and plenty (no really, plenty) of beer. I arrived a little late, due to football commitments, and limping like a muppet, so seeing as generally speaking the best thing for this sort of injury is to apply [...]

It's been about 45 days since I started this blog, and I've learned an unsurmountable amount of skills and information embodied in the the fact that knowledge is gained through experience. I've dabbled in just about every type of blogging production; citizen journalism (when I showed up to a DJ set and was the only person in the room, busy taking gratuitously framed pictures of the performers), commentary (which I'm displaying now), self-produced materials (my Rawdio Show and the post shown below), features [...]

Photography by Snap Shox Hello TSURURADIO listeners! I wanted to drop in real quick, take a break from unpacking (sweet fucking jesus, when will these goddamn boxes go away???) and let you know about a couple features we are hard at work on for our loyal listeners... But, before we start, here's a song from a UK band I just heard of, Magic Arm (pick up their EP here ). Magic Arm - Outdoor [...]

Grizzly Bear-esque vocals, Sufjan Stevens-style instrumentation, and ever-so-light psych-folk undertones; that's everything I like about Magic Arm's 'Outdoor Games', the opener to their EP of the same title. The things I don't like? There aren't any. This is one of those perfect little tracks that you don't see coming, but end up swaying to all day long. Any good psych-folk song has a slightly hypnotic feel to it, and Outdoor Games excels in that area; the breathy slow, heavy harmonies weave through the quietly swelling banjo(?), organ, and harmonica in a beautifully lullaby-like fashion. Enjoy this gorgeous little gem of [...]

We love magic--always have. And you know we love Arms . So in a similar fashion one would expect us to love a combination of the two words...and we do! Thanks go out to Grizzly Bear 's Ed Droste and his always-informative, always-a-good-read blog for shedding light on Manchester, UK's Magic Arm . Magic Arm is principly the work of one man--Marc Rigelsford--who manages to flesh out his psych-folk songs with immense amounts of overdubbing and Grizzly Bear-like, breathy vocal layers (makes sense why Ed would like this song...he also [...]
Suite et fin du Mp3blog de The Limes entamé la semaine dernière par David et Orouni. C'est au tour des américains du groupe, Henry Sparrow et John Hale, de partager quelques beaux morceaux avec nous. The Limes, merci. Henry Sparrow Michael Holland - True Feelings From the album "Bootlegger's Dreams", 2003 Big Johns Records. Il faut vraiment être un sacré écrivain pour parvenir à se dépêtrer d'une phrase comme celle-ci : ?Tu devrais te mettre à apprendre à vivre. Tu devrais commencer à compter ton temps (...)

I wanted to post a few examples of music similar to that of Lewis & Clarke. (You can see I'm really living by my words about personal music and the feeling I don't have to share it.) Here are three more very personal artists: Miracle Fortress - Have You Seen In Your Deams Paul Duncan - The Lake Part 2 Magic Arm - Outdoor Games None of the albums from which these songs are taken are available yet, but check [...]

1. Pedro the Lion - Indian Summer - I'm actually surprised I never got too deep into Pedro the Lion, but gems like this one help me understand why a lot of people I know are koo-koo for Pedro-Puffs. This one belongs on a mixtape. Make it happen, people. [from Control | buy ] 2. The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build a Home - This sounds like Coldplay's Chris Martin doing a song for a movie soundtrack. Is that bad in any way? Not a chance. [from [...]
Bro's by Panda Bear and Men's Needs by The Cribs and Outdoors Games by Magic Arm

Here's a new band today. Or rather that should be a new artist. For Magic Arm is really just one guy – Marc Rigelsford from Manchester – who is pursuing a very pleasing and interesting line in psychedelic alt-folk music. Unusually for a British artist, I first found out about Magic Arm from an American source - via the excellent blog by Grizzly Bear's Ed, who recently posted the song Outdoor Games , which seems to be the only track currently available out there. Since then both Said the Gramophone [...]

MP3: Magic Arm - Outdoor Games Magic Arm's Outdoor Games seems to be struggling to begin. It can't immediately think an answer to those who say "I'm happy to argue with you till the cows come home, but I'm not going back, and I'm not moving from this spot" - Magic Arm want you to be ambitious and take a few steps; they just aren't all that persuasive. These lo-fi ambitionists sound fantastic on this side of the Atlantic tonight. Here we have a British band [...]
Today I want to talk about three things that come to me by way of the sporadic but often excellent Grizzly Bear Blog. (This is the blog of the rock-band Grizzly Bear and not, unfortunately I admit, a blog about grizzly bears.) The Crystals - "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)" Grizzly Bear - "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)" [live on KEXP] This is (i think) the first song that we have ever posted (i hope) which is in at least some ways a celebration of domestic abuse. The creators might claim it [...]
Our shameless pleading bore fruit this weekend as The Muso was awarded the notable title of Best Music Blog in the 2007 South African Blog Awards. The Don and I were at Cool Runnings in Fourways to pick up the award, meet some of the bright minds that make up the SA Blogosphere and have an all round cool time. We're really stoked and congrats to the other category winners especially Tertia for taking home Best Blog and Steve Hofmeyer for beating us to Best New Blog. You can find the full list of winners and [...]
