MySpace The arc of Neil Halstead's long and storied musical career taken him many places. He was both an architect of sonic cathedrals at the dawn of Slowdive's career and a pioneer of electronic ambiance at its end, then with Mojave 3 he played the roles of country-rock and power-pop songsmith with equal facility. With his first solo album Sleeping On Roads in 2002, he took the soft-spoken folk balladeer that's lain at the heart of his songwriting throughout it all and brought it [...]

Magnetic Morning and Black Nite Crash at Chop Suey, Seattle | 29 October 2008 At first I didn't realize how good of a drummer Sam Fogarino is, but I kept being drawn in by the drums Thursday night. His drumming was downright hypnotic at times, a beacon through the haze of of guitars and keyboards guiding and taking the songs to places that mere mortal drummers never even fathom. Magnetic Morning are something of a supergroup combining the talents [...]

Adam Franklin ( Swervedriver , Toshack Highway) and Sam Fogarino ( Interpol ) have announced the track list and physical release date for their highly anticipated Magnetic Morning debut, A.M. ( check out a cool interview here ) . The album is out now digitally but you can pick it up January 27 through the Friend or Faux imprint. A.M. [...]

Frank Yang So hands up whoever had "50%" in the "How many people are going to take off after Frightened Rabbit's set?" pool. Congratulation, you win some taffy (note: you do not actually win taffy). I had guessed that about that percentage of the couple hundred who showed up at Lee's Palace on Tuesday night were there to see the highly-regarded Scottish outfit make their Toronto debut, and I was about right. This is not to take away from the other two acts on the bill - both headliners The Spinto Band [...]

Another weekend, another set of great shows. Here's the lineup. Parts of Swervedriver, Interpol and The Album Leaf join to create Magnetic Morning . Lead singer Adam Franklin seems to be everywhere, doing solo work, reuniting with Swervedriver and working with MM. They will be performing in DC at the Rock & Roll Hotel Friday night and Johnny Brenda's in Philly Saturday. Joining them is Springhouse . Also on board for the DC how is Julie Ocean and The Jet [...]

Magnetic Morning are stunning in their indie rock mood music, just as The Album Leaf perfected their synth drums and keyboard. Their sound floats on the edge of rock and ambience just like that of Neverending White Lights . The band is a sideproject, yet a full-time project of sorts intertwining artists from Interpol (Blasco Frederic & Sam Fogarino), The Album Leaf (Jimmy LaValle), Swervedriver (Adam Franklin) and The Still Out [...]
I would like to dedicate this mix to a friend back in DC. This mix is just as crazy as she is, covering all ends of the spectrum. It will be good to be back in town for the weekend. Have a great one. The House of Love - I Don't Know Why I Love You Cory Branan - Tall Green Grass Fred - Running Woven - Trumpeting Strength Magnetic Morning - At A Crossroads, Passive Mobius Band - [...]

The full moon will be out this weekend, so be on the lookout for werewolves and, here in Georgia, Bigfoot apparently . I contemplated doing a Bigfoot themed mixtape this week (allmusic.com has 171 songs with "bigfoot" in the title alone), but tracks like Bigfoot Eat Bananna , Boppin' With Bigfoot , and Bigfoot By The Ocean just weren't really in line with the Friday Mixtape. So, while Bigfoot Goes to Heaven and Lullaby [...]

MP3: Marching Band - "Travel In Time" Perhaps my fellow Rock Sellout blogger Keath is right in his conspiracy theories about us Swedes taking over the world when it comes to the music scene. Because Marching Band are well on their way on becoming the next Swedish act to make it big outside Scandinavia. "Travel In Time" is so far my favorite track of their debut album, Spark Large (out on August 5) - Sweet, catchy and folksy in that typical Swedish way. MP3: Attic [...]
After releasing their debut, self-titled EP late last year, the duo behind Magnetic Morning have announced plans for a full-length studio album and fall U.S. tour. The side-project supergroup, composed of Interpol drummer San Fogarino and Screwdriver frontman Adam Franklin has so far deviated from the sounds of their regular bands, choosing to take a more pop-friendly, "melancholic, reflective, walking-off-into-the-sunset side" approach. While details pertaining to the band's first full-release remain sketchy, it's likely a safe bet you'll find it full of the aforementioned styles and sounds. Of course, you'll be able to find [...]

At the beginning of this year , we talked about a collaboration between Adam Franklin (Swervedriver) and San Fogarino (drummer from Interpol) called Magnetic Morning. Since then, they've released a self-titled EP ( buy on iTunes ) via DH Records. Starting next month, Magnetic Morning will begin recording their first full length album and in November they embark on a tour. The guys will be making a stop here in Austin to play this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest, who recently announced a few of the other bands that are playing. [...]
Too many records, too little time...... Days - Never Came To Last ( Shelflife ) Taken from the Swedish bands debut album "Downhill". Buy Here Cheveu - Superhero (Born Bad) Taken from the self-titled debut. Great stuff this. Buy Here The Wedding Present - Spider Man On [...]

Magnetic Morning (formerly the Setting Suns) are made up of Swervedriver's singer/guitarist Adam Franklin and Interpol's drummer Sam Fogarino. They met and formed in New York in 2006. Last year they released their first self titled EP on Itunes in Novemeber while the physical copy came out on April 19th of this year. Adam Franklins bassy drawl defines their sound while stacks of whistles, strings, and organs flow beneath him covering the deep bass and drums like a winter jacket. Bundle all that up in a nice neat package then drop into a bath of reverb [...]
