part industrial, part drone, part ambient - two former members of loop create arctic masterpieces of repetition. cold, haunting, but gripping. this is their first two eps collected. released by situation two in 1992. hold on to your friends.

Ra Ra Riot is one of those bands I first discovered live opening for The Cribs earlier this year at the Double Door back in Chicago, and I was really impressed with their live show. I thought they had a really great stage energy and that they really brought a lot of depth to the songs on their EP that I listened to after seeing them live. They are also one of those bands that has seemed to be everywhere despite having only one EP to their name, kind of like Tokyo Police Club. Well, no longer. [...]

Well kids, it has been a long absence for the good ole BVaz, but after moving and shit, hopefully we can get this shit back going here. Anyway, since Daigle has handled Lolla, and Pitchfork Fest just seems so fucking long ago I might do a Throwback Thursday about it, let's get back into album reviews and shows why don't we. Anyway, these guys pretty much everyone knows about at this point I think. Black Kids had a shitload of buzz going last year from their EP "Wizard of Ahhs", which they parlayed into a major label [...]

<a href=" Sanhaji and Chris Liebing Orlando: Impact: How did it all start for you? Brian: That depends on what exactly you mean by that. I started producing music 13 years ago and had my first release on a label called „Triebtäter" in the year 2000. The record was a huge success, although it sounded really bad. Hehe. Orlando Impact: It is no secret that you are an expert in mastering field. You have [...]

Founded by Leah McSweeney in 2004, NY-based brand Married to the Mob has caused quite a stir as one of the first and few streetwear brands made strictly for the ladies. Dominating the market with strong statements like "Men are the New Women", the line has proven itself to be worship-worthy among high-fashion and urban trend circles alike. I am personally drooling over the 2008 Fall collection, which is full of brilliant, bold and colorful hoodies, jackets, sweaters, printed leggings, tees, and denim. You know you crave... [...]

The Maine live video "The Town's Been Talkin'" Check out The Maine 's live video for " The Town's Been Talkin' " on pureolume .
I've been living in Lisbon, Portugal since the end of May, and while there are some distinct things that I miss about home, either in Maine or at school in Connecticut, life here has been amazing. However, one event that I'm extremely bummed out about missing was the release party for my favorite Portland band, Phantom Buffalo . They've been around for a while, and used to be called The Ponys, until they got booked for a festival and discovered there was a band from Chicago also called The Ponys playing there. The release party was [...]

Well I am in the process of moving so I can't do any proper website updates for a little while, but in the meantime, I started a twitter for the site here and I will update with stuff from Pitchfork today, and also from Lollapalooza in a couple weekends when that happens. I also have a lot of my photo blogging still going on here . Once I get stuff organized next week I should be able to get some photos from the preview night and Pitchfork up. As for yesterday at Pitchfork, [...]

The Maine's debut reaches #40 on the Billboard Top 200. The Maine released their debut full-length album, Can't Stop Won't Stop , this week and it has meteorically risen to the top of the charts. It is currently standing at #40 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, a huge accomplishment for such a young band. It also reached #4 on the Record Label Independent Current Albums Chart and #11 on the Current Alternative Albums Chart. Named one of Alternative Press Magazine's "100 Bands You Need To Know in 2008," The [...]

The boys from Phoenix are back with their debut full length album, Can't Stop Won't Stop. The Maine has put forth a spectacular album that has delivered after months of impatiently waiting. With only one previously heard song, it was an album filled almost entirely with new material, all of which had me rocking out till dawn. The Maine had released the first track on their myspace prior to the release of Can't Stop Won't Stop. Everything I Ask For, is a fun song filled with The Maine's care-free swagger that they are notoriously known for. Their personality [...]

Two brothers... One speaks no English, the other learned English from watching "The Wide World of Sports." So you tell me... Which is better, speaking no English at all, or speaking Howard Cosell? Hey, Hoops, you ever notice how people die in alphabetical order? I know, two movies. However comparing these two movies in plot, character, and principles involved, it is the same fucking movie. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of both of these, however both being Savage Steve Holland projects in autuerism, his only [...]

The Smiths - The Smiths - Rough Trade - 1984 Well, somewhat inspired by this forum post , I thought I would try to cover some of the albums on the list here on the Throwback Thursday feature. First I thought I would hit up one of my favorite bands ever, and one that I feel that their influence is very poignant and prevalent in today's indie music scene. Of course I refer to the great Smiths, one of the really great and I think still underappreciated bands of the 1980s. [...]
Halley's Comet > Cities > Llama - Phish 8.16.97 - The Great Went, Limestone ME This is sick, sick, sick.

Wolf Parade is just one of those bands that is just really fucking in the zone right now, with a superb album that is my favorite of '08 so far , building buzz around said album, and a big ole tour to go out and blow some minds, and they showed their prowess once again last night at the House of Blues in downtown Chicago. They are one of those bands that I would put in the indie 'elite' as far as bands that pretty much bring solid gold with everything they do, and that certainly includes their [...]
