The Major Lazer sound is back again with another full length album. The dancehall project Major Lazer, largely driven by the multitalented Diplo , released Free The Universe on April 16th. This album shows the unique direction that the ML crew is taking their sound. The 14 track album features collaborations on each song with artist that work in dancehall, pop, electro and other genres. The release features tracks that appeal to the easy listener, as well as the raver who is looking to tear up the dance floor. Bouncy tracks on [...]
Changing it up with a quintet, Pepi Ginsberg's latest project Companion is that fuzzy happy pop perfection with lush vocals and beats that hook you right in.

All week long we’ve been looking at our staff’s choices for the best albums of 2012 five LPs at a time. Our submissions include all styles of music from bluegrass to jazz, jam to indie, electronica to rap, as well as everything in between. At the end of the day, we’re a music blog. Everyone is encouraged to write about what they like with no motives, no editorial biases, and no strings attached. We hope that comes across in our picks. We’re in the home stretch, so let’s check [...]
Here's your a few proven ideas from whoever has knowledgeable healthy along with long-lasting interactions: Recall - Settle back and, please remember time when you initially attained one another. Especially in hardship, make an effort to relax and remember the older time activities along with cases that reconcile you actually with one another. Rendez-Vous ( space ) Whilst life's at times just like a high-speed educate, aim to shell out the evening together. This doesn't have to be some thing unexpected, enjoying a motion picture jointly or even homemade cards and also chess will perform okay. Make an [...]

On November 27th, Pac Div will unleash GMB, the Cali trio's 2nd full length album. GMB stands for Gabe, Mike, and Brian, the real names of the three members of Pac Div, also known as Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung. While this is album #2 for Pac Div, they are no newcomers to Hip Hop. They've been making music since 2006, and rose to the top of of the underground 2008. They signed a major label deal shortly after, and dropped what many thought would be their last "free mixtape" Church League Champions in 2009. The project [...]

Wesley Pentz is always producing the newest bangers of any genre, whether it be under the name Diplo or as dancehall project Major Lazer. This time around Pentz, as Major Lazer, has teamed up with dubstep heavyweight Flux Pavilion to deliver a brand new tune. The two have taken Johnny Osbourne's song "Mr. Marshall" and transformed it into their own original mix, "Jah No Partial". Major Lazer preserves the original reggae groove, but adds a bit more energy with some pounding kicks and chord progressions. Finally, after a minute and change into the track the highly anticipated Flux Pavilion sound [...]
Fang Island have announced fall tour dates with Anamanaguchi starting in October, followed by the band's performance at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX on November 4th. Check out the dates and Fang Island's video for "Sisterly" off their recent album, Major, after the jump. FANG ISLAND Live: [...]

With it's playfulness yet constantly steady booming sounds "Kindegarten," the opening track of Fang Island's Major is a reminder that class was not always about science and math, but also about learning the paths of life. With the lyrics "all I know/I learned in/kindergarten" repeating in the background after a lengthy piano introduction, the track is a great introduction to a new Fang Island whose sound is still experimental, but more chiseled and mature. Major is Fang Island's second full length release and showcases the band's ability to stretch their sound to [...]
Brooklyn-based rockers Fang Island know how to have a good time. The band's past video endeavors have featured dancers donning Bill Clinton masks and an Elvis-ninja fighting a gorilla . Their new one for “Sisterly” might be the most bizarre yet. In the Behn Fannen -directed piece, Jason Bartell, Chris Georges and Marc St. Sauveur perform for their lives on public access television while a mysterious producer pelts them with stuffed animals. Luckily, the guys make it out alive. Can't say the same for their back-up singers, though. If you can't get enough [...]
Fang Island have debuted a new video for their song, "Sisterly", off their recently released album, Major, that no doubt had a MAJOR impact on the lives of hipsters everywhere. "Sisterly" marks the first video from the new album and is shot in an old school style. The video's budget was $1.2 million [...]

Just over a week ago, Bring Me The Horizon announced they'd moved to a major label? Big deal, or so what? Or both? Hugh Platt is here to mouth off. So Bring Me The Horizon have moved from the relative smallness of independent UK label, Visible Noise, the relative gigantism of the multinational Sony Music Entertainment, by way of the major's RCA Record subsiduary. RCA, of course, has been the past [...]

I defy anyone to listen to Fang Island and keep a straight face. That beaming smile spread across your mug might be induced because they are so magnificently up lifting. Or you might titter at their ridiculously un-cool, anti-hipster guitar solos and unabashed drum fills. Either way, their music is the zenith of HAPPINESS. And if you hate happiness then I don’t even wanna know you. Ergo, if you hate Fang Island , I don’t even wanna know you. I am writing this as I listen to the Rhode Island musicians’ follow up album, ‘ [...]
Get ready for some more of that new-new (ok two week old, but still) trap music, as Diplo (under his nom de bass, Major Lazer) shows the budding genre some love with his remix of Hot Chip's post-electronic and extremely melodramatic 'Look at Where We Are'. The mega-producer is perfectly happy to show us where he is [...]

I can’t think of another album that makes you want to hug complete strangers as you walk down the street on your daily commute. This is not some metaphorical device to open up this review, this actually happened. And, I must add, it was pissing with rain. Of course, I didn’t hug them. That would be both dangerous and a little silly. On first listen Fang Island’s latest album wasn’t the immediate fix that the last was. On second listen, the above happened, and the shit-eating grin it impressed on my face was enough to make [...]

Fang Island - Major By Joseph Rowan Like all right-thinking people whose ears appreciate things that are good Fang Island 's self-titled debut album was my favourite album of 2010 and it ranks among my most-listened to albums from the past 5 years. So, as you might imagine, there were somewhat high expectations riding on the follow-up. I could pretend there was some doubt about whether Major manages to live up to its awesomely rocking predecessor but I'm not going to [...]

A few of my favorite new releases this week, including the latest from Passion Pit , the debut from Purity Ring , and a brand new EP from one my big time favorites — The Antlers . As always, be sure to check out Largehearted Boy for the rest of this week's new releases. The Antlers// Undersea [...]
The Rhode Island based trio grows up. Sargent House, 2012 7.0 / 10.0 If there's one thing about the music industry that gets on my nerves, it's when bands feel like their sound needs to "evolve" or "progress". Fang Island seem to have fallen victim to this cliché and the result [...]
