It's been about a month since the Minnesota techno trio Man Is Doomed made their way into this blog, and they haven't become any less of a guilty pleasure since then. Their disco sensibilities and techno tendencies make Man Is Doomed sound good on the dancefloor and on a pair of headphones. It's only March, but I'm going to call this: Man Is Doomed will probably be this year's standout electronica debut. The trio is from Minnesota, and their music is as indebted to contemporary techno as it is old school disco: Like Justice and MSTRKRFT, they've got the crisp bass lines and slightly overmodulated drums that make club speakers rumble; plus, they've got the melody, male falsettos, and pop sensibility that call back to groups like the Bee Gees.
