By our reckoning we're less than three weeks away from living in a world where those in the know will be walking around town unable to stop themselves from singing "Krill, Krill, Krill forever" [and oh shit hare krsna, now there are these t-shirts , too]. Not because a new cult is taking hold in indie rock circles... or at least not the kind of cult that one usually associates with word "cult." No, that simple chant is the chorus to the opening and closing numbers from Boston indie trio Krill 's triumphant sophomore set Lucky Leaves [...]

For the past year, Consequence of Sound has presented Off the Avenue , a performance-based video series shot live at North Avenue Studios in Orange City, FL. Now, we're pleased to share the first-ever Off the Avenue compilation album. Off the Avenue Compilation Volume 1 features live recordings of 14 bands, including indie folk troupe Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes , Brooklyn rapper El-P , Omaha's alt-rock legends Cursive , Portland electro-pop act YACHT , Philly's experimental rockers Man Man , and more. Photo from BBC Radio 6 Tomorrow brings the official release of the album the internet has been eagerly anticipating since a 16-second ad aired without fanfare during a March episode of SNL. Random Access Memories , the latest release from French discotronic duo Daft Punk , has been streaming on iTunes since last Wednesday, and its lead single - the pop earworm "Get Lucky," sung by the ever-charismatic Pharrell - has been bumping the XPN airwaves since last month. But what about the album beyond that? There's a lot of [...]
I forgot to post this after I wrote it, so here it is almost three months after the show! This could be the best Man Man setlist (and set) I've seen in a long time. They played a classic "just recorded an album" set: greatest hits, fan favorites and a handful of new songs. Sometimes [...]
I listen to a bunch of podcasts, but until today I've never checked out Rafflecast on the Earwolf network. But when they snag a guest as good as Honus Honus to appear on their segment "Building the Track," I've got to tune in. After you check out their work writing and recording "Doo-Wong," you can [...]

Some footage surfaced of Man Man 's set from their tour ender this past Saturday at Union Transfer. Here's a funky new ditty called "Where The Time Goes" that we've been grooving out to this morning. Special thanks to Kate Bracaglia for bringing it to our attention and shepritz for sharing. Enjoy!
Perhaps it's because he's a drummer, or maybe he's a drummer because of it, but Chris Powell has a knack for juggling multiple things at once. Onstage behind a kit - in present day avant-popsters Man Man and going back a dozen or more years with his formative group Need New Body - it's rhythms, ... Continue reading
Philadelphia’s Man Man are a band whose energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Everywhere they go, they rile crowds—but perhaps nowhere as much as in hometown Philly, where everyone knows a Man Man show is not just another concert but an event. Saturday night, the band closed out a month-long tour with a stop at Union ... Continue reading

Tonight the madcap men of Man Man will be wrapping up a month-long national tour with Murder By Death at Union Transfer. The much-beloved traveling circus has been on the road testing out the new material from their upcoming album. Also in tow will be new members Shono Murphy and Adam "Brown Sugar" Schatz. Local wild men Man Man close out a month long national tour at Union Transfer tonight. About to release their fifth studio album this summer, the eclectic rock outfit talked to The Key's Kate Bracaglia recently about pre-show tea drinking rituals, Instagram posts and the "natural progression" of the new album from 20112s standout Life ... In many ways, you could argue, Philadelphia’s Man Man are like the zany heart of the local scene. Throughout the years, we’ve watched them grow: from a ramshackle league of whooping, circus gypsies—to the nuanced and creative band who released 2011’s Life Fantastic. And during this time, the band never failed to disappoint, regaling us with ... Continue reading

Tonight will be my first trip to the Southgate House Revival to see Man Man and Murder By Death. This is an all ages show, so you've got no excuse for missing out on a live act I know to be great and one I suspect to be! I know Man Man are playing some [...]

Murder by Death and Man Man will be co-headlining the Southgate House Revival on February 21. Murder by Death is touring in support of their sixth release, Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon. In other news, the band made headlines for becoming the third most-funded music project in Kickstarter's history, raising nearly $200K through the crowdfunding platform. I'd be kind of pissed if I helped a band raise, like, 100x my income only to make a shitty album. Fortunately though, the band's full length debut on Bloodshot Records has received positive coverage. Paste Magazine called Bitter Drink, [...]
Going big for 20132s first Shaking Through video, Weathervane Music called in Secretly Canadian / Jagjaguwar / Dead Oceans founder Chris Swanson to curate Volume 4 Episode 1. Swanson took the opportunity in an experimental direction, bringing North Carolina hip hop artist Steven A. Clark together with local musicians to create a scenario not often ... Continue reading
