( Ace Fu Records , 2006) When I first heard this great Philadelphia group I was impressed. Man Man 's music universe is mainly raucous voice of Honus Honus, clanging percussion , sonorous saxophone-trumpet-oboe lines and funny rollicking back vocals. All toghether is really weird experimental indie sound reminiscents you Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart maybe. Following short description from allmusic.com set [...]
So it's been a while since I've put together a little mix for all of you. I've been listening to a ton of great music lately, that I just haven't gotten around to posting about. So consider this an introduction. Let me know what you like/dislike, and make sure you put this all together on your little iPods while walking outside to the crisp Fall weather. It works perfectly with the temperature, trust me. Ennui - Time and Place Ok Go - Here It Goes Again [...]
Despite the fact that I will miss almost all of these shows I'm still going to tell you all what you should be doing if you're in New York this week. It's an excellent week full of fantastic live shows that you should not miss. I'm going to try to make it to two specific shows this week, but who knows if I'll be able to do that. Plus there's a couple of free shows this weekend I'd love to attend if work doesn't interfere. Anyway, make sure you're checking the regular sources because there's more going on than just [...]

Spank Rock crew Is this all over the blogs by now? Yeah, it probably is. Because it is the jam. Black-Rock aka Spank Rock and his 3 DJs made a new mixtape called Couche-Tard which, according to Turntable Lab , sends us "through a Willy Wonka-ish adventure through everything audible: old radio jams , 80s pop , funk , electro , soul , breakbeats , Bmore , and straight WTF ." If this track (which features [...]
Pitchfork Day 1 started out how all events should - by us getting lost. Blue, green, pink... the Russian roulette of L trains. Once we lost that game a few times, we settled for a cab ride, and all was well. Union Park is an strange place to organize a festival, and we discovered the highs and lows very quickly. The pros: fairly small, lots of shade and can't miss any performances. The cons:
For the past month or so, I would answer the question "who are you most excited about seeing at Pitchfork like this: "well, I really want to see Man Man again, but I'm not sure how their live show will translate into a festival setting." When I first saw them, ...
After a musically fulfilling yet physically exhausting weekend, we are now on our return back to our gloryhole, Los Angeles. Since our day tomorrow is going to consist of catching planes at god awful hours, the Content would like to leave you a few pics to get your mouths salivating for the full recap of our weekend in the "windy city" as well as a few of our favorite songs from the weekend. See

This was wild. I got to the festival about an hour after gates opened (maybe 1.00). The first band to play was Hot Machines ... definitely a good opening act. Their red-haired singer was wailing away, the other guitarist (Alex?) was axing away, and the drummer was sweating up a storm in the back. Not bad for the opener. Chin Up Chin Up came out looking slightly dazed and confused (staring into space, waiting for Hot Machines to wrap it up), but were truly on the ball. All [...]

After a couple missed encounters at SXSW and in Dallas, we finally get to see Man Man today at the Pitchfork Festival . Based on the sheer number of people that have rubbed in how awesome they are and how we're huge losers for missing them, I'll be disappointed by anything less than the best show ever. We'll let you know. On that note, here's the least-representative Man Man song we could find: Man Man I'd Rather Go Blind (Etta James cover) mp3
I think its pretty safe to say that Man Man bring alot of energy to their live show. The five piece also bring tons of stuff with them on stage. As evidenced by the pictures I snapped these guys were very entertaining. Dressed in all white and with"eye white" painted under their eyes, they hammered on keys, banged on drums and basically did not stop moving their entire set. This can make for a difficult photo at times. They had a dueling keys thing going on as the two frontmen seemed to be trying to [...]

Every year thigmotrope productions host a great little indie festival at the Southgate House showcasing some of the best in Indie Film and Pop called Lite Brite . This year is no exception and the festivites kick off tonight! Below are a few things Im looking forward to, the full slate is viewable in the image above. Indie Film Tonight - The local premiere of "Brothers of the Head" . In the 1970's a music promoter plucks Siamese twins from obscurity and grooms them into a [...]

I went to this last year (1) and had lots of fun, due to that five letter word that most college students don't have I will not be attending but if I could this is what I'd personally check out and that you lucky enough to be going should try to see. Day One Chin Up Chin Up :These guys are a cool little indie rock band. Very catchy, and they are on that lovely label Flameshovel (3) . Chin Up [...]
Last week I received an email from Ryan Schreiber saying that he wanted Rewriteable Content to do complete coverage of the Pitchfork Festival, all expenses paid. Pretty sweet huh? I thought so too, until I realized that was 5 AM and I had been dreaming. Dreaming or not, The Content will be attending the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago next week, no expenses paid. I know what you're thinking - no
We would like to introduce you to Man Man . When we kicked back, threw on the headphones, and listened to this artist we thought "Crunchy pipes of a carnival barker on his porch tellin' stories." What did you think? Use a tag or comment to share your thoughts with everyone. Enjoy. Genre: Rock-Pop-Folk Label: Acefu Source: Pocket|Trax [...]
