MAN... OR ASTRO-MAN? Man... or astro-man? retornan a la tierra para tocar por primera vez en Buenos Aires y mostrarnos su cosmovisión hecha música... aterrizan su nave en Niceto Club . Los esperan The Broken Toys y The Tormentos [...]
Hey. How's it going? What'd you think of Game Of Thrones tonight? Pretty sweet, no? Shit's about to get crazy… Are you aware that the Lyrid meteor shower is ongoing through tonight and tomorrow, and that in the midnight-to-dawn hours tonight (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday) you have the opportunity to see dozens of meteors per [...]

Man or Astro-man? In the mid-19902s, there weren't a ton of great rock music coming through Auburn, AL, unless you liked catching John Mayer playing dive bars or seeing Eve 62s lead singer get arrested or 3rd Eye Blind's lead singer fail miserably at picking up bartenders while dating Charlize Theron. Yes, my time as a college student there wasn't exactly the peak of great music, but ... With apologies to The Close, the best band to come out of Auburn in the mid-'90s (in my opinion) was the experimental [...]
Celebrating (roughly) four-and-one-half years of Sunday Mix Tapes. I'm back from India. I'm trying to pretend I'm not jet-lagged but after sleeping five hours on the plane I came home from the airport (at 7am) and slept until noon. Then I woke up and ran 20 miles (which sucked!). Then I went out drinking. I [...]

What's up kids? I've got a doozy for you all today: a 1.7-hour playlist of songs about space. Why? Just for kicks, and because it gives me an excuse to post this link: www.spacetelescope.org/images/ archive/top100/ Which, if the URL doesn't make it obvious, is a collection of the 100 "best" space telescope pictures, and, I gotta say, there's some great ones, for sure. But anyways, about the music! 18 songs from a wide variety of genres and time periods, all with titles and/or subject matter relating to space. The ILS [...]

THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Tim Kasher w/ Aficionado, Trapper's Cabin Monday, August 29 The Earl - 488 Flat Shoals Avenue in Atlanta 30316 Admission $12 / Purchase Tickets The difficulty with being Tim Kasher in 2011 is that people have you pegged. Everybody knows what to expect. Whether it's jilted lovers, couples trapped in dysfunctional relationships, or pick your poison of whatever suburban romantic malaise you desire, Kasher's central characters are always sardonic and jaded: bitter cynics who are doomed to [...]

Tonight's show picks if you weren't among the 100 folks who got into Surfer Blood's house party: ► No new music in 10 years, but nerdy Alabama surf-rockers Man or Astro-man? have reunited and are touring — tonight they visit the Echo. ► Ted Leo's solo show at the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock includes a Q&A with Keith Morris and a lineup of standup comedians. ► Gang of Four's tour behind its new album "C O N T E N T" reaches SoCal, first with [...]

The Octopus Project have got some big tour dates coming up. Later this month, they'll be hitting the road with 90s mainstays Man... or Astro-man? But things really heat up when the act take to stage opening for Devo in March. Holy shit! The only bad news in this whole announcement? All of the shows are a hell of a distance away from New York City. (See below.) The Octopus Project tour dates: Dates marked + w/ Man... or Astro-man? Dates marked * w/ Devo [...]
Here at Consequence of Sound , we like to pay attention to musical guests on late night talk shows. Also, the Gorillaz are pretty popular right now, and they're cartoons, kind of. You might also remember the excellent DANGERDOOM, in which the notorious sometime-performer DOOM and one of the biggest producers going Danger Mouse put together a great album featuring members of Adult Swim 's cartoon comedy block. But both the cartoon-musician relationship and our love of the musical guest have deeper roots, namely in the guise of Space Ghost Coast to Coast . [...]
Oh, folks. Have I got a tale for you. As a matter of fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't have a tale for you. Because words cannot accurately render how incredible last night's screening of The Room was. It was without a doubt the greatest movie-watching experience of my life. Setting aside the beers at Golden State, the beers at Surly Goat, the bottle of wine consumed while waiting in line, or the bottle of Jack Daniels consumed in the movie theater, I haven't laughed that hard in God knows how long. If [...]

Amos Lee performs 11/5 at Patriots Theater FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5 Amos Lee 's new album, Mission Bell , is set to drop on January 25, 2011. What's the best way to describe our feelings on the upcoming release? We tremble with delight? Wait with bated breath? Quiver with anticipation? Either way, the next two and a half months promise to be long ones. Thankfully, we can pass the time by continuing to post about Amos every time he sneezes. Amos Lee performs at 8 p.m. at Patriots Theater; [...]

From Is it Man or Astro-man? MOAM's infamous 1993 debut which blends a healthy dose of surf rock & rockabilly with sci-fi goofiness. This is a Ventures cover from 1967. Man or Astro-man? - Journey To The Stars

picture by Cody Ranaldo The Landfall Music Festival starts this week. The Landfall Music Festival is the Legion Arts' World Music festival that has taken place since 2008. Real Astronaut reunions are a grand affair to be certain, though mostly the sentiments are something akin to: "Hey, remember when we were in fucking outer space ? That was unbelievable, dude. Earth sucks in comparison to fucking outer space. " It's hard for us earthlings to insert meaningful bons mots into theses conversations, but we sure can jump right into a conversation about Man Or Astro-Man? reuniting with much joy and celebration. Starcrunch, Birdstuff, and Coco, who reunited earlier this year to perform at SXSW, will continue to space walk up the east [...]
Hey man, it's officially summer! I mean I think it was "official" a few weeks ago, but once you get to free Slurpee day at participating 7-11s you pretty much know it's summer for real. I didn't get a free Slurpee today because the only flavor I ever enjoyed was Coca Cola, and after two full weeks of not drinking soda I didn't want to tempt myself and fall off the wagon. So...no free Slurpee for me this year. Still, it's fucking summer now! Let's have a party! Okay, enough exclamation points. Instead of speed-writing excitedly [...]
Not sure of the whole back story on these videos here, but KEXP has just put up several live videos of Man or Astro-Man? performing at a wine tasting in Seattle on June 26, 2010. KEXP apparently was involved with the event and has these videos for you all to enjoy. Check out the remaining 3 videos below. Finally here is part 3 of my adventures at NXNE . The events that took place on June 19, 2010. Not alot happened during the afternoon. I decided to take a small break and do some shopping. It was also the same day as the Toronto Island show with Pavement and Broken Social Scene. I did check out the Young Dundas Square show. Heard abit of Surfer Blood and abit of Wavves. Met the lead singer of Surfer Blood and apparently thought my name was Nick. I wasn't getting into Wavves [...]

Like they say, if you've got a good schtick, you may as well schtick with it. Hello...is this thing on? Anyway, these fine young space warriors worked that instrumental surf rock/B-movie sci-fi dialogue sample combo for all it was worth and maybe a little more. Part of me wishes I had that kind of focus. Another part wishes I were far more eclectic in my pursuits. The bum-out part of me fears I may be in the middle. As for the Astro-men, their EEVIAC [...]
