Local outfits, Man Plus and Safe Passage Claus e have just released videos to back their recent projects. To say they're completely different, I think, is an understatement. These 2 examples do, however, give a pretty decent feel for the range available in the Seattle music scene. Check 'em out. . Man Plus " My Kind of People " from the album The Hungarian Suicide Songbook The video was made by their friend [...]
And so the lists begin. Yes, it is that time of year, Music Nerds ( that stands for Never Ending Radical Dudes, btw ), where all your favorite on-line idiots tell you who and what they liked most in this wondrous year of 2008 (not counting Mr. Barry Obama). What made you dance? Who made you sing? What made you think? But, most importantly, what made you feeeeeeeeeel. And, if you've spent at least 1% of your leisure time reading this site, you'll no doubt recognize some of the names below such as the Heavy Hearts, Sera Cahoone, Starfucker, [...]

64 local Seattle bands, 9 venues, 1 day. October 4th has the fuse lit and is ready to go off. I've put up tunes from some of the bands we'd recommend you make an effort to catch to help get you jazzed. There are links to every band's music so check out those you've never heard before and find some new favorites. . There have been a bunch changes to the schedule and some additions, including See Me River at the Tractor and Liars Club at the Bit-that not even [...]

Man Plus , the sweet 'n sour Seattle band currently gaining traction throughout town thanks to constant showing, the vetting of KEXP's Cheryl Waters, and, of course, our own fancy reviews of their despondent dance-rock, has recently released a truncated remix version of their LP, Hungarian Suicide Songbook . And not only that, you can download the sucker for free . (You know we're always tryin' to feed you cheapskates the free stuff.) [...]
The is a shiver is passing through the very heart and soul of the Seattle music scene as the 2008 Seattle Weekly's REVERBFest peeks out from behind the Bumbershoot mamoth. Boasting over 60 Seattle area bands in the lineup, ReverbFest is picking up some serious momentum. As we close in on one month until the "big show", October 4th is already looking to go down as one of the greatest conglomeration of local talent I can ever remember having seen. Palms are getting sweaty... pupils dilating... this is like porn for the Northwest audiophile. They're going to be pouring [...]

The New Faces ::: Photo by Josh If, before you've even released a record, on the hottest day of the year, you can attract a full crowd to dance in a bar, you know you've got something going. That was exactly the case on Saturday at the High Dive in Fremont for the New Faces ' record release show, and the trio seemed to appreciate the attention of playing to such an enthusiastic group. If there was any doubt as to whether these young gents are ready for their moment in the sun, with a [...]
I did intend to catch more than four bands at this year's Cap Hill Block Party, but after 4-5 hours of insanity I felt I'd experienced enough BP action to feel more than fulfilled. It's true, each of the bands I saw were fantastic and I definitely got plenty utility out of the 20 bones spent on my ticket. I simply bailed early on Saturday evening (around 9:30, eek) because I yearned to regain my small hemisphere of personal space that had been suffocated for 4+ hours. Too many tickets sold? This is an [...]
The band closed their set with a slower ballad, and ended anti-climactically but it was one of the most enjoyable sets I’ve caught thus far at CHBP. read more
Man Plus are a Seattle-based band, with music described as: "dynamic song structures [that] drag the listener over a rock-candy terrain, with heavy walls of guitar, rushing rivers of synth, driving backbeats, and multipronged hooks that make for a forceful and ambitious effort". And indeed, I find their music to be pretty damn original, indeed "rock-candy" is a very accurate description - an overall hard-rock sound (including the lead vocals) with clear pop undertones. Just my kinda thing. Enjoy! Man Plus [...]

Magnetic Morning (formerly the Setting Suns) are made up of Swervedriver's singer/guitarist Adam Franklin and Interpol's drummer Sam Fogarino. They met and formed in New York in 2006. Last year they released their first self titled EP on Itunes in Novemeber while the physical copy came out on April 19th of this year. Adam Franklins bassy drawl defines their sound while stacks of whistles, strings, and organs flow beneath him covering the deep bass and drums like a winter jacket. Bundle all that up in a nice neat package then drop into a bath of reverb [...]
