by mitch turner An abbreviated reel this week but stimulating nonetheless. We've got an update on Manchester Orchestra plus re-issues for Nick Cave and Aphex Twin. As a special treat, here's an MP3 from the latter. One side note I feel I must mention: I learned of Aphex Twin as a 13 year old at a record store. Both me and my best friend were from divorced parents so we decided to purchase a cd under joint custody. We decided we'd pick it randomly based on [...]

When I first heard about the possibility of this tour materializing a few weeks ago, I was almost flabbergasted. This might as well be titled the "Buzzgrinder Broke Us Tour." It's not that we're getting big heads around here. I mean, nobody really "breaks" a band these days anymore. Especially a music blog with bad taste like us. It's just that this is unprecedented. Three bands that we were way ahead of the curve on - Manchester Orchestra , Fun and Winston Audio [...]
Just got back from the DR, which (thankfully or not) means we can retire the 32ft Down concept. I might bring it back in April or over the summer when I am 90% sure I am moving to Bahrain to pursue petroleum speculation as a full-time career. That is 95% a joke.I walked in the door and in my mailbox was the new Manchester Orchestra record. I have loved this band since 2007 when, ostensibly to

It's been a little more than a couple of years since Manchester Orchestra 's debut album I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child set into motion months of constant touring and work for the little band from Atlanta. The band has managed time to record the follow up, and has selected famed producer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, My Morning Jacket, U2, Oingo Boingo) for the sophomore release. Mean Everything to Nothing sees release 4.21, and the first single from the upcoming release is out and titled "I've Got Friends". Manchester Orchestra will [...]

The only reason I've ever listened to Manchester Orchestra is because I was at some party a couple of years ago and met some kid and found out he was into The Mountain Goats so we talked about music for like an hour. I don't remember much from that conversation other than he liked The Mountain Goats and recommended Manchester Orchestra. Good recommendation. Here is a song from Manchester Orchestra's Mean Everything To Nothing, coming out in April. "We wanted our album to sound as emotionally dark as 'Pinkerton' as fuzzy as 'In the [...]

Joshua recently had the chance to interview one of PopWreckoning's favorite singer/songwriters, Kevin Devine . The guys talked about everything from albums, Brand New and politics. Make sure you check out part I before moving on to part II here: Joshua , PopWreckoning : I find that you get a large number of people that are drawn to each individual album because each album is so different. Like I know a lot of people that prefer Make the Clocks Move . I find the Brand [...]

New Manchester Orchestra track from the album, Mean Everything To Nothing , which is scheduled to be released in April. I am loving this song! I've Got Friends by Manchester Orchestra

Atlanta's own Manchester Orchestra is on its way to a brilliant year. Finally, the emo-punk quintet will be releasing their long awaited follow up to 2006's I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child . Though to the band's credit, it's not like they've been lounging around, acting like lazy rock stars, all dried out of new material. It's hard for a band to find studio time when they're playing over two hundred shows, shelling out EPs, and making impromptu festival appearances (including Lollapalooza, where we snagged an interview out of 'em last year). [...]

Spinner.com released the 1st single from Manchester Orchestra's upcoming album Mean Everything to Nothing . You are more comfortable [...]
