It's that time of the year when the office prankster is even more annoying than usual, the time of year when the newspapers are full of news items that are so obviously false that you wonder how anyone can be taken in. Well the Devil won't stoop to such juvenile antics. No the Devil is a jape free zone. All you get here today are April Fool related tracks to wipe away the memories of all the childish and borderline cruel jokes people have played on you today. Go Try

For three bands some critics might consider to have a cult following, Bad Books, The Front Bottoms and Weatherbox certainly seemed like superstars as they played to a sold-out crowd last night at World Café Live. Fans got to the venue ere there and stayed late. California rockers Weatherbox opened the show, followed by eclectic ... Continue reading

While the vinyl split between Manchester Orchestra and Thrice is long gone, some good soul uploaded a rip of Manchester Orchestra's contribution, a 14 minute epic cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" with help from O'Brother . I've ripped the youtube stream to mp3, download it below. MP3 // DON'T SPEAK (NO DOUBT COVER)

As far as I'm concerned Manchester Orchestra are front in center when it comes to records I'm anticipating this year. From a recent tweet made on their official twitter, it appears the band will be releasing something new w/ Thrice and O'brother . Details are sparse at the moment, but I'll update with any more developments.

There are few things more universal than sadness. If, you're human, you've been sad, and chances are that you've got a song to go along or help you through it. I'm so enchanted by the concept of excellently sad mixes, because when I am sad, I do not want to be cheered up. No, I am a deep wallow-er. I want to lie alone in my bed eating and immersing myself in the saddest possible songs. It was in this vein that, years ago, I made The Infinite Sadness Mix . I've been reworking the mix a lot over [...]

With their second full-length album, simply titled II , out yesterday, it's very clear that Bad Books maintain their unique sound. In this second collaboration between singer/songwriter Kevin Devine and Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra , the duo have become even more willing to stray from their musical comfort zones, breaking free of some of the artistic tendencies that many fans have come to know and love them for in their other projects. “Forest Whitaker” sounds very much like their debut, yet nothing like it all at once. With hints of Nintendo pop synth [...]

If you've been reading SKOA for a while you may know that I am personally a huge Manchester Orchestra fan. A few years ago I was pleasantly surprised to hear Andy Hull had teamed up with Kevin Devine for a side project titled Bad Books . The band is rounded out with the other members of Manchester Orchestra and the result was a melting pot of creativity and influence, and I thoroughly enjoy album one. They are now set to release album number two simply call, II. It will be released next week [...]
Here it is. Our photo rundown of the little festival that could up in Bowling Green. This was my first foray up to Starry Nights, and according to everyone things were way, way, way better than before. For me, it was a perfect sized set up where you could get up close and personal with all the bands without having to sacrifice any other bands. The people were great, and everything was run like clockwork. There was no alcohol sales on the premises, but that was probably a good thing because Kentucky's finest gave me and hundreds of others a [...]
