Recently, The Daily Beast was asked to tag along on a "patrol" with the gang from Towson University's "White Student Union." Their fearful leader, Matthew Heinbach, is repeatedly described by nearly everyone he encounters as being an especially 'polite' human. Which is weird, because he is also an insane racist. Heimbach is super concerned about the "genocide of the European people," which is weird, because that is not at all a thing. Oh, and of course, he and his group feel importantly about the preservation of "white culture." Is white culture endangered? Let's see. I just [...]
Conan O’Brien took the time to learn proper Southern etiquette with Cindy Haygood of etiquette school Perfectly Polished . Man, Conan has a few good zingers in here. Definitely one of the better bits he's done in a long time.

Last month, the ATG team celebrated Valentine's Day with a writer-by-writer exposé of the number one love song of all time . This month, our tenderness has turned, and we're taking a look at the Wario of love songs, the breakup song. Which homage to heartbreak reigns supreme? How do the breakups break down? Check out our answers after the jump and let us know what we missed in the comments. JIA @JiaTolentino [...]

Fresh off their Madison Square Garden debut, Passion Pit and tour-mates Matt & Kim and Icona Pop headed over to Rochester, New York for what I would consider as the city's most impressive bill in quite some time. Kicking off the show was our favorite Swedish duo (sorry The Knife ), Icona Pop , who packed a high-energy set in their allotted twenty minutes. The gorgeous girls played banger after banger, singing and handling production like champions, all whilst dancing and getting [...]

So, the split 73 featuring BIG UPS and Flagland came out last week on East Coast Basements and Bedrooms . The 73 is a limited press of 314 on pretty pretty bubblegum pink vinyl. This here the free mp3. Play this loud. Listen. Downloadable: Fresh Meat (mp3) You can purchase the Flagland/BIG UPS Split 73 @ bigups.bandcamp.com . The cover art looks like this: And you can still download BIG UPS [...]

Win our top 31 albums of 2012 ! Read the original review Given the considerable success Passion Pit 's first album Manners garnered, it's always interesting to see what a new band will follow-up with. And while not a huge departure from their debut, Gossamer shows a surprising amount of restraint for a band known for their euphoric blend of electropop. While "Take A Walk" wasn't necessarily the first single everybody was [...]

I was just watching some Olympic ribbon dancing, shopping for tracks to post when I hit this one. I knew it was a go about half way through the 2nd second; you'll understand why. 'Mannerisms' is nothing if not immaculate; the airspace is never lacking, the vocal samples are inventive and captivating, and the drums and synth solos crush. The only bad thing about the track is that it's not available for any download, but on the upside it is the lead single off Clear Eyes' self-titled LP1, due out sometime around fall or winter, so there's more [...]
On its sophomore albums, Massachusetts' Passion Pit brings its joyful, upbeat sound to new heights of happiness. WATCH THE REVIEW

Four years after the belated Valentine's-Day-gift-turned-hy ped-EP Chunk of Change , the formation of a five member band, a charming debut LP ( Manners ) and popularity and adoration that have made them household names (more like apartment/loft for the young and hip), Michael Angelakos has a lot to be proud of regarding his electro-pop project Passion Pit . But what he has in store for their second [...]

After exploding on to the scene, Passion Pit has finally released the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed, popularly-enjoyed debut album, Manners . Gossamer , their sophomore album, which as far as I can tell is named after the red fur-ball character occasionally seen on Looney Tunes , is a fantastic step for the still-young band. It might not have the blast or the shake of their first album, but as a whole it seems more mature, not necessarily better, just more mature. Where Manners played through as an album laden with danceable numbers, Gossamer explores the [...]

When I first read the message from Michael Angelakos on Passion Pit's Facebook page about them canceling their current shows because he needed a mental health break, I thought: "What a crock of shit! Here you are in your mid 202s, on top of the world and you need a mental health break?" Now, after reading Larry Fitzmaurice's feature on Pitchfork yesterday, in entirety, I feel like a complete douche bag for thinking that way. I have been a Passion Pit fan since Manners came out and I know it had been taking some time [...]

This year we're being treated to comeback albums by a slew of artists who are trying to follow-up the huge success of their debut album, perhaps none more so than Passion Pit or The xx . Passion Pit dropped their debut LP Manners back in 2009 and became one of that year's Summer-soundtracked bands, with "Sleepyhead" being blasted from houses, cars, pubs, clubs, and clowns living in sewers , it was almost inescapable. Earlier this year [...]

We have no idea who NYC producer Arca actually is, but that's just fine as we know that UNO is putting his music out, which should be enough for us to be into that guy. And indeed, "Manners", the first taste from his upcoming physical debut Stretch 2 , is a terrific track with bittersweet synth chords and saccharine vocal manipulations, all built around an agreeable rhythm that will keep your feet moving. We like this a lot. Stretch 2 is out August 6 via UNO. Pre-order now over [...]
We Cut Corners | The Male Mind from Rémy M. Larochelle i promised. Teilen

As the excitement builds for Passion Pit 's second album Gossamer , the band have dropped another new track after they bled our dancing souls dry with their first cut "Take A Walk" . For the second soul-bleeding time in a month, "I'll Be Alright" sounds like something straight off of Manners that's dripping in synths, lush, upbeat vocals, and a much catchier hook than "Take A Walk" . It was premiered on [...]

The boys of Chiddy Bang dropped by the now legendary PS 22, to perform 2 songs with the children, “Talkin’ To Myself” and “Mind Your Manners”. Both are flawless, and the cute kids do a perfect job on the choruses and adding in new melodies. Xaphoon, of course kills it on keyboard. Really what Mr. B has done at the school is nothing short of magical. At the end of “Talkin to Myself”, watch the short interview with the band, and see how the kids go nuts everytime a video game gets mentioned. Hilarious. [...]
