Late last week Passion Pit released the video for their next single, To Kingdom Come, out on 24 August. It sees the five dress up as nerdy veteran scientists who set the cartoon world outside on fire. As for the song itself, well, expect yet another slice of electro-pop perfection, with those same soaring high notes and thrilling choruses. This one's a bit faster than The Reeling, and just as infectious. No [...]
Science laboratories, facial hair and awesome period-piece costuming. The new video from Massachusetts's next great white hope, Passion Pit, and their song "To Kingdom Come" has all sorts of graphic bells and whistles, cartoonish renderings of mitosis, The Big Bang,...

Originally broke off at SomaCow.com In this hour, we extend our welcome to Ryan of The Channel Project for a round table discussion on topics as diverse as gated communities, what not to do on a first date, and holding the door. Some of you people apparently never took etiquette as an elective in finishing school, or maybe manners just don't matter no more, but to help you, I have compiled a list of 5 things that still get you served [...]

Whew, it's summer and here in LA the June gloom has finally faded. Here's the soundtrack to my crazy ass season: 20. Metric - Monster Hospital (MSTRKRFT Remix) The only thing sexier than Emily Haines singing "hold my arms down, I've been bad" is her singing it in front of a danceable beat. 19. Casxio - Boiling Point Another one of my local favorites, Casxio [...]

Daniel Harris via Monday, July 6 Daniel Harris at Weirdo Records (donate, 8:00, all ages) Harris uses instruments like the cello, glockenspiel, melodica, banjo, etc to make soundscapey folk tunes. Good stuff. Tuesday, July 7 Animal Hospital , Quoins , Manners , Battle House at Great Scott ($8, 9:00, 18+) This is [...]

Fun, fun and fun. That is what summer is and that is what this album is, FUN. I hate it when bands release a promising EP and don't follow through on their first full length album but that is not the case with Passion Pit. Chunk of Change showed promise for the electro-pop group from Boston, MA and they took what made that EP work and extended it to a very respectable full length debut in Manners . I put this into my rotation a couple of weeks ago and I can't keep some of the songs [...]

SubT favorites, Passion Pit, take some time from their ultra-busy dance schedule to discuss Table Manners, Burritos, Bubblegum and Lucky Charms. Wonder if these dudes recommend dancing on a full stomach?

After a lengthy lull due to numerous circumstances, the Show Worthy posts return. Truman Peyote at MassArt Tuesday, June 23 Team Robespierre , Chinese Stars , Big Digits , Truman Peyote at The Middle East Upstairs ($9, 8:00, 18+) Warning: this show is only for those ready to fucking dance . Every single one of these motherfuckers is going to bring it and bring it hard. Do, [...]

I caught Passion Pit's hometown show at Paradise Rock Club, which was a really tight set despite the rather shitty sound. The bass was mixed so high that it almost completely drowned out lead singer Michael Angelakos ' vocals on a few songs, and that's saying something when it comes to a piercing falsetto like his. Passion Pit has had a whirlwind year, going from being relatively unknown to one of the must buzzed-about bands at SXSW, playing Bonnaroo, and now set to tour throughout most of the rest of 2009, including stops at Lollapalooza, [...]

Phoneix with Passion Pit The Rumsey Playfield at Central Park (aka Summerstage) September 25, 2009 Tickets are on Amex presale now. Public on sale begins Friday, June 1 2 at noon. Both of these bands have been enjoying pretty good runs lately. After making a huge impact with American audiences on SNL back in April, Phoenix finally released Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix at the end of May and to no one's surprise, they've got two sold out [...]

REVIEW OF PASSION PIT - MANNERS Incredibly high falsetto-ed singing voices can't help but be sort of funny. That's just the way it is. Therefore, the major full length release by buzz band Passion Pit , which is entitled Manners , is going to make you smile, whether you like it or not. I suppose I could understand why some people might not like it. It is overly schmaltzy in parts, the ballads seem to occupy the same black hole that may have sucked in the likes of [...]

In the fall of 2007 Brooklyn-natives were privy to the exciting new synth-filled sounds of the duo now known as MGMT. The Management, as they were then known, were so unabashedly open about their hipsterness that they quickly began to fill the void that the Steve Aokis and Ed Bangers were losing ability to (because of their newly found mass appeal). MGMT found its way into obscurest playlists, 2007 year-end lists, every festival on the face of the planet and lemon-flavored-soda commercials, all within months. By the time their debut album Oracular Spectacular actually came out in 2008, it [...]

Words and photos by Meiyee Apple Passion Pit played in Los Angeles for two consecutive nights with Cale Parks and Harlem Shakes . Excellent efforts on the two opening bands on both nights, but this is about the dance band of the summer. Both shows, one at the tiny Troubadour in West Hollywood, and the other at the more appropriately-sized Echoplex in LA, were sold out for the mere price [...]
Carpe PM is the producing team that pairs two of New York City's finest--and maybe most religiously followed--DJs: Jess from the indie/new wave/glam goliath "Trash!" and DJ Bastard (left), who commands the crowds every Tuesday night at Happy Ending. For shame if you actually don't know who these guys are (or maybe you've just never been to New York City before and then even more "for shame"s for that one) but let's change all that right this minute with a rocking remix of "Little Secrets" by Passion Pit , off of maybe the year's best record, Manners [...]
