Skudge remix of Slow Motion at 1 hour 14 minutes. After a huge response in Marcel Fenglers Berghain mix, Slow Motion is set for release on Sims' very own Theory imprint this March with a huge remix package boasting works from Skudge, Robert Hood & Rolando. After an extended hiatus in 2011, it's now clear that both Theory & Ben Sims were preparing for both his debut LP Smoke & Mirrors, and this almighty 40th release. A heavyweight number suited for only the darkest of caverns and the truest of sound systems. Swedish duo [...]

Marcel Fengler doesn't require too much effort to consume. I don't mean his techno is simple. On the contrary, it's complex and has a lot of depth. Where some techno is so precise it sounds devoid of feeling, Fengler has a knack for palatability. Sometimes you don't want to cuddle your iPod in an empty bath. You just want to shot tequila and dance your ass off (bb). You can do this to Fengler's Twisted Bleach EP , released by German techno powerhouse Ostgut Ton in [...]

Well programmed, good track selection and superbly mixed, this instalment is another notch on the bedpost for the Berghain series. The mix builds well and comes to a stunning peak-time, piano led climax mid-way through with Claude Young and Nakajima's 'Think Twice'. There's also some sick joints by Seiji, Gerd and 20:20 vision amongst the 19 choice cuts. I would air on the side of caution if you are new to the series. Maybe start with one of the earlier mixes before getting into this one. I felt it was a little [...]

Photo by Elizaveta Porodina [Mote-Evolver] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) Marcel Fengler's original "Thwack" is one of the most mercurially monstrous things the German producer has yet unleashed, an utterly distinctive flurry of flashbang handclaps and white-hot snares. Released last year on Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver label, it's no surprise that the track would be cherry-picked for the remix EP treatment, and its rather late arrival is well timed with the looming release of Fengler's Berghain 05 [...]

01. Marcel Fengler, "Rapture" [ Ostgut Ton ] ( buy ) In a roster crammed with stars, Marcel Fengler is Ostgut Ton's dark horse whose material kicks just as hard as the rest of the pack's. Where his peers provide bigger and more brutal beats, Fengler's music is disciplined and efficient, exerting itself just enough to get crowds sweating without beading up itself. The title track of his Rapture EP is a prime example of his aesthetic that also delves into house territory with truncated organ notes and hypnotically looped and [...]

[ Mote Evolver ] ( buy vinyl ) ( buy mp3s ) Practically every piece I read on Marcel Fengler presents him as the criminally underrated underdog of the Ostgut Ton stable. He's not there just yet, we're told, but he's well on his way. While I can't wait to see him finally break out of this cycle of proto-hype, I tend to agree with this assessment. The guy can do battle with the best of them as a DJ, but his records - spritely techno built up from tense, twitchy loops [...]

RA.209 Marcel Fengler - 2010.05.31 For this week's podcast, we tap one of Ostgut-Ton's most skilled techno mavens: Berghain resident Marcel Fengler. Though he tends to keep a pretty low profile, Marcel Fengler is rightly considered as one of the finest techno DJs currently in operation. At Berlin venues Berghain and Arena, and at underground parties around Europe, his sets have a refined, atmospheric quality that betrays impeccable taste and years spent behind the decks. Indeed, his credentials are pretty hard to argue with: he got his start [...]

Though far less hyped than some of his labelmates, Marcel Fengler is a longtime staple of the Ostgut Ton family. He DJ'd with Dettmann and Norman Nodge before Berghain even existed, and his latest EP, Twisted Bleach , is his third release on the acclaimed Berlin-based label. Those who haven't heard Fengler won't be disappointed, but they won't be very surprised either: He's a talented producer, but in terms of style, he doesn't stray too far from the label's status quo. The title track shows Fengler at his best. Piano stabs dissolve into white noise and back [...]

Photo by Luca Campri [ Ostgut Ton ] ( buy vinyl ) (buy mp3 tk) While Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock have each established themselves as like-minded soundsmiths of taut, ultra-functional, ear-splitting techno workouts, fellow Berghain resident and best pal Marcel Fengler remains something of an unknown quantity. He has yet to venture beyond the OstGut Ton mothership, and his two previous releases - murky, Gothic techno rollers pitched towards the latest of late nights - have been amongst the label's [...]

this one was allready posted here ,, but it's so fu##ing good trip,, jeje [dg] by chris Ok, I really should have posted this a while ago, but I've been way too busy. As a follow up to Marcel Fengler's amazing mnml ssgs mix, he kindly provided us with a full tracklist, which he didn't give at the outset so we could listen to it with open ears (an excellent policy). We also had a bit of a chat to him about this and that. chatting-with-marcel-fengler [...]

Only days after stating that my end of year charts were merely the best records I'd heard last year did I finally discover the identity of a track that sent shivers down my spine the first time I heard it and true to form it was indeed a 2008 production and most definitely worthy of (a very high position in) my 'best of' list. Danton Eeprom 's 'The Infinity Symbol' is quite simply a slice of sheer electronic brilliance that starts out as electro by numbers before quickly introducing the disjointed synth that forms the backbone [...]
