For the last three years, No Sugar Added has been the go-to alternative for Miami Beach revelers looking for sanctuary outside of the crowded streets of Biscayne Blvd and wood-chipped arenas of Bayfront Park. This year, in addition to appearances from Defected, Ministry of Sound, Tiësto's Musical Freedom, and your very own Dancing Astronaut. No Sugar Added played host to Marco Carola 's infant Music On label. Carola himself commanded an ever-impressive six hour set, and fans of the Italian techno king's label were also delighted by Silvie Loto, Marco Antona, Joseph Capriati, and others. [...]

What is considered to be perhaps the mother of all electronic music festivals, Tomorrowland, has announced to the public the first round of the first phase one of their line ups. Even though only seven acts have been announced thus far, this has not stopped thousands of people from making their travel plans to Belgium for July 26th-28th. With it's massive reputation there is no doubt that Tomorrowland is sure to have a massive line up. To keep up the suspense and excitement building Tomorrowland will be announcing a new artist everyday, so stay tuned! The artist that have been announced so far are Steve Aoki, [...]

Yes it is indeed that time of the year again where the line-up for one of the years biggest, trippiest and by far most colourful festival starts to roll out! Three big timers have been dropped into the equation to start things off, and they are: - STEVE AOKI - ALESSO - MARCO CAROLA Not a bad start if you ask me! Last year the three day endurance festival realed [...]

Arguably the biggest festival to hit the shores of Croatia 2013, the HIDEOUT Festival is not one to disappoint after releasing a third bunch of big name artists to grace the stages come June. The additions will include international EDM figures such as SKREAM AND BENGA, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, MARCO CAROLA and none other than SBTRKT (dj set). This huge and likely to be final wave of artists added to the line-up is creating serious hype for this [...]

2012 has been an exciting year for dance music, the scene has grown beyond any of our comprehensions, supplanting itself in popular culture, fueling the soundtrack of commercials, sitcoms, and even a Disney movie, and shaking the foundation popular culture by establishing a new wave of music consumer. At the forefront of everything have been the artists, the true pioneers of the electronic dance music wave. With a scene as large and expansive as EDM, it was hard to honor only 50 - for every David Guetta or Calvin Harris there are droves of aspiring bedroom producers all doing their [...]
Italian producer-savant Marco Carola has tickled techno fans around the world with the five part download of his larger-than-life closing set at Amnesia Ibiza this past summer. Although a live Marco Carola set is a completely irreplaceable experience , we're hoping this will give you an idea of this seven hour odyssey he and the newly formed Music On family curates. Forget tracklists - just close your eyes and plug yourself in. Yesterday we got part one, and he released part two earlier today. Keep checking back (maybe once a day) for the three other segments of [...]
The underground had a big year in the US in 2012 and we only felt it appropriate to highlight some of these amazing artists independently from potentially bigger or more commercial artists in the dance music world today. We considered the year these artists have had in terms of production, live sets, and overall influence. We also generally picked artists we love and admire; artists we feel are extremely important to pushing electronic music forward. This list of 25 names includes legends and young guns alike, but we can assure you that every single one of these artists is incredibly [...]

In celebration of the impending debut of Sensation in America this weekend in Brooklyn, we bring to you a Good Morning Mix fit for the event of the year. Only a few weeks ago, Toolroom king Mark Knight rang in the brand's sixth birthday with six shows throughout the UK (including Ministry of Sound in London) and support from Friendly Fires, Lovebirds, Crazy P Soundsystem, and a variety of resident Toolroom DJs. The set whips through some of his more recent remixes and productions (like "Nothing Matters") but also skillfully throws in dashes of classic, contemporary, progressive, deep, [...]
Music On steps into the Cipriani Ballroom at 55 Wall Street this October 31st, for the most alluring Halloween Ball in New York this year. Normally adorned by world famous music legends such as Beyonce, Lionel Richie and many others who performed over the years, this will be the first time this landmarked space is opening its doors to a night of techno, courtesy of Marco Carola . Revelers can escape to a world of decadence and indulgence, and be treated to the very best in electronic music from 10pm till the wee hours. [...]
With Halloween around the corner, party planners in New York are making choosing the right party to attend a burdensome task, as usual. In what could be the most lavish and extravagant techno party this city has ever seen, Marco Carola and his Music On party brand are set to take over the storied ballroom at Cipriani Wall Street. The venue (pictured above) that is known for famous charity and black tie events will be transformed into a dance party for a five-hour exclusive Marco Carola set. Tickets start at $120 for GA and $200 for open bar. Purchase tickets [...]

Well, not quite, but comparatively deep. A lot of my more casual friends are looking for Deep House mixes that they can bump out at work, while cooking, or in their commute, etc. Here are some incredible mixes you should check out. Downloading enabled through Soundcloud. Maximiljan - September 2012 by Maximiljan Maximiljan has to be one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in the Techno game right now. Everything he touches is gold. Hector Couto [...]

The rumors are true ladies and gentleman. Italian techno pioneer Marco Carola is bringing his Music On event westward with the help of Leon for what promises to be a Halloween dusk to dawn rager in the heart of New York City's financial center. No one can create the atmosphere that Carola can quite so skillfully. Add the extra element of costumes, candy and ghouls and this is something that is not to be missed. Music On has been host to those who have been instrumental in making techno what it is today. Just this past [...]

It's remarkable to see how your music tastes can evolve in the span of a year, or in my case, from one Electric Zoo to the next. Last year was an explosive one for music discovery — as so many new producers rose through the ranks, it was interesting to explore and test out my musical palate. From big-room house to trance and electro, the infinite pastures of dance music became an unhealthy disease that I never sought out a cure for. In the same way that a foodie constantly seeks new cuisines and flavors, as a self-proclaimed connoisseur of electronic music, [...]

In a bold effort to quell the underground "uprising" that spawned from the lack of Sunday School Grove sets recorded at this years Electric Zoo festival, EO has decided to handpick sets from the Electric Zoo artists at other global festivals/venues. Of course this is not the same as reliving the music that you heard in NYC, but it is certainly the next best thing. Check out some great sets from the big artists that played in Sunday School this year including: Luciano, Reboot, Sasha, Maya Jane Coles, Paco Osuna, Marco Carola, Dixon, and Boys Noize. Take note...some [...]
Playing catch-up with posting these next few days but lets start off with something for my underground fans. 1) Talking Jungle (Justin Vandervolgen Remix) -Soft Rocks ***FUEGO*** Piano chords DONE RIGHT. 2) Louis (N.O.O.D. Remix) - Fabier A dark, brooding techno gem that draws the same vocal sample from former Big10 favorite "Up" . 3) Thank You (Alex Piccini Remix) - Outstrip Trippy, groovy peak-hour [...]

The last guide! Sunday in the Sunday School Grove tent. Right off the bat, everyone should be intrigued. What started as the Sunday School for Degenerates in Miami during WMC has now become a regular installment/tent at Electric Zoo that is synonymous with the best names in underground music. Last year was truly outstanding, with titans like Loco Dice and Dubfire rounding out the bill. This year is no different, and in some ways perhaps better. There is a dichotomy of styles, with one side wielding Germany's finest dance music export Boys Noize , bringing [...]

Photo Credit: Oliver Correa Guti is a musician before a DJ; something that is a rarity in todays saturated dance music market. An amazingly talented piano player turned producer, Guti was quickly snagged by Loco Dice's Desolat camp and turned into a recognizable name in the underground niche. Having been supported by big names like Marco Carola, Carl Cox and Ricardo Villalobos, Guti was commissioned to do the coveted Essential Mix by Pete Tong (posted below), and decided to do something unprecedented: use only his own tracks in the mix. This along with his live [...]
