Anyone can make a short list of the artists buzzing right now. Do you have the internet? Yes? Then you know who is buzzing, because you can't avoid them. Within 20 minutes of them releasing a song, showing up on TV, or just stopping by Tumblr to drop off some pictures of their ever-improving lives, we hear about it. Twitter timelines and feeds fill up with a flurry of slightly varying headlines from all your favorite blogs, who rush to share the news first, hoping that maybe if you see their news story first, you'll share it with all your [...]

Marcus Foster has certainly had a good year this year, with his first E.P. 'Tumble Down' released in April, followed by his first full album, 'Nameless Path', in September. Now the year has been neatly wrapped up with a UK and European tour. Marcus came to Nottingham supported by Son of Eagle and Sam... Read more..
While this video has been getting lots of attention due to the prescene of kristen Stewart, it is worth pointing out how good "I Was Broken" really is. The UK vocalist Marcus Foster has some of the most powerful vocal chops you are bound to hear. Coming out of the great Communion community that has produced so much great talent, Foster delivers gut wrenching tales that will fill Londoners headphones in the months to come. Foster just released his debut album, Nameless Path , which you can get here . [...]

Marcus Foster - Nameless Path By Stephanie Stevens-Wade Following the release of his Tumble Down EP, Marcus Foster 's first studio album Nameless Path is brimming with so much confidence and maturity it's hard to believe he's only launching his debut at 24. The London singer songwriter has produced an unexpected pick'n'mix of genres exploring country, folk, blues and soul but assembled with such panache it portrays his flare and talent without sounding like a confused mess. Opening track [...]
Marcus Foster - Raspy voiced Londoner follows up his promising Tumble Down EP -- one that we said heralded the 24-year-old as one of the year's best new performing songwriters -- with his debut full-length...the freewheeling foundation may be folk based but Foster brings a dramatic passion and loose-limbed rock swagger to these impressive compositions...new project was shepherded by Communion Records, co-founded by Mumford and Sons' Ben Lovett // Release : Nameless Path (September 27 Geffen U.K.) // Sounds like : one of those great voices that comfortably swings between [...]

Marcus Foster - Nameless Path 8/10 I have been hanging onto this album for dear life for the last couple of months. Seems Marcus Foster is a young man whose name is on many a scribe's lip! I was lucky enough to be introduced to his graveled tones pretty early. Though I enjoyed his previous EP release, it's only on this debut long player that we get to fully appreciate the diversity and full talents of Marcus. At times, it all becomes a little disjointed, [...]

I first mentioned Marcus Foster on this blog when I wrote a post on Communion Records' (the independent label founded by Mumford & Sons' Ben Lovett, producer Ian Grimble and Kev Jones) double album, The Flowerpot Sessions , which featured the singer-songwriter's stunning tones. London-born Marcus Foster was six years old when he first began to play the piano. He became quietly obsessive about music when he discovered his father's collection of Bob [...]

Marcus Foster , currently signed to Communion/Polydor Records, has announced details of two tours this autumn - a headline tour of his own covering Edinburgh to Southampton, and almost everywhere in between, and a tour supporting New York girl-rock band The Pierces. The announcement of these tour dates comes just ahead of the release of Foster's debut album 'Nameless Path' on 26th September and the release of his debut single on 19th September. The live dates are as follows: 07-Oct Sheffield Leadmill (sup. The Pierces) 08-Oct Glasgow ABC (sup. The Pierces) 09-Oct [...]
she-actor the KRISTEN STEWART donates her valuable time for her first music video cameo via the MARCUS FOSTER 's newest I WAS BROKEN visual offering. Video: MSN Exclusive: Marcus Foster - I Was Broken wotyougot

London-born singer-songwriter Marcus Foster is set to release his debut album, Nameless Path , on September 26th. The 24 year-old first came to many people's attention when his song Let Me Sign , sung by his old schoolfriend Robert Pattinson , appeared on the Twilight soundtrack. Presumably this is how Pattinson's co-star Kristen Stewart , who makes a cameo appearance in the video for latest single, [...]

Saturday at The Great Escape is summed up largely by two things - fantastic music & queues! I had heard tales of the amount of queuing to be expected at the festival but on Thursday & Friday we somehow managed to avoid any apart from when foolishly attempting to get into Warpaint just 5 minutes before they started. Saturday more than made up for that though! (Although to be honest we weren't helped by the text messaging service that kept sending us to places that were already 1 in 1 out, therefore making it the biggest annoyance of the whole [...]
I was lucky enough to see Daughter ( Twitter / Bandcamp ) (aka Elena Tonra) a few weeks ago when she played with Marcus Foster as part of HMV's series of Next Big Thing gigs. The 21 year old songsmith produces beautiful, fragile, and ethereal folk, with her wistful voice over sparse guitar and percussion. She's just released His Young Heart EP, with the launch party at The Slaughtered Lamb tonight, and it lives up to our ethereal expectations. She's been holed-up for the last few weeks with Igor (her boyfriend and live guitarist) writing new [...]
Marcus Foster - Raspy voiced Londoner releases his debut EP in the U.K. this week, four tracks that herald the 24-year-old as one of the year's best new performing songwriters...folk based but with a loose-limbed rock swagger // Release : Tumble Down (April 4, Geffen U.K.) -- full length due this summer // Quote : "I was particularly obsessed with Tom Waits. "Not only did I love his voice, but also how he wrote his songs. They had such depth, so many layers, and were filled with the most amazing characters. He completely [...]

Back at the beginning of February I featured Marcus Foster 's Shadows Of The City after falling in love with its intoxicating, unique sound. Just over a month later, having heard his debut EP I'm pretty sure this is a musical love affair that looks set to continue! Despite comprising of just 4 songs Tumble Down , due for release on Monday 4th April, is a stunning extended introduction to Marcus' music, and the versatility he posseses as a musician. So who is Marcus Foster? Well, having begun to play Piano at the tender [...]

Marcus Foster has rekeased the video for 'Shadows Of The City', the main track from debut EP 'Tumble Down' released on Communion on 4th April. See the video: As you can see, Marcus is born to do what he does. He's certainly one to watch in our eyes this summer, playing our since he was 14 and under the watchful eye of EMI at 18. He says: "I love narrative in songwriting, always have...the ability to delve into character and story, and to lose yourself completely in wherever the song takes you." [...]

Monday Music's the weekly post where SOIWT drops its London-only rule, and goes global: Becoming Real - Closer The first tune on Becoming Real's new record (just released on Cold World Industries ), Closer's a diary entry of insecurity, a constantly concerned dubstep plea to persons unknown. Closer by Becoming Real Hot Sugar - Fuckable (Feat. Baghdaddy) ( mp3 ) Mmm-hmm. Yeah. Oooh. Alright. Mmm. Oh yes. Phew baby. [...]
Listening to an artist for the first time is always an exciting experience, especially when you think "YES! EPIC WIN! " at the end. When Marcus Foster starts singing about a minute into "Tumble Down" there's a classic, bluesy power in his voice, impressive for a 24 year-old. A bit of internet research revealed that as well as being in Mumford & Sons "crew" (can a nu-folk band can have a crew?!) he is an exhibited artist and long time friend of Robert Pattinson. Don't let that put you off though: check out the available-for-download [...]

Marcus Fosters' music is difficult to define, placed as it is somewhere between folk & rock. Whatever it is, it's intoxicating! Latest offering Shadows Of The City begins slowly, with guitars and folky twang to Fosters' voice, before the rest of the band kicks in and it becomes an indie/rock track. The song as a whole is enigmatic, fusing as it does influences from 70s glam rock to contemporary folk, and so much in between. It's epic yet reserved, with fantastic production. Above all, it's different! There are times when it is possible to say [...]
