So if you can make it through the Arcade Fire excitement you can also listen to a track off Maria Taylor's new release, Lynn Teeter Flower . And for a little pick me up take a listen to the 80's punk pop-rock of Charlotte Hatherley off her 2007 release, The Deep Blue . Next up I'll kick off my 10 day SXSW 2007 post fest because I have been wishing on stars and I have been tossing pennies into fountains for some sort of miracle takes place and I [...]

I'm really kind of surprised that Maria Taylor hasn't gotten a lot more attention for her solo efforts. Azure Ray got a handful of attention after being lumped in with Frou Frou as part of a whole "female duo electro-pop" sort of movement, but on her own nobody pays enough attention to Maria Taylor. Her debut solo album "11:11" was an underappreciated gem from 2005, and I kind of think the only reason people's ears perked up at all was because it was her first album away from Azure Ray and it also had a guest spot from Conor Oberst [...]

It's a big day at the record store. Top Five Most Interesting New Releases : !!! : Myth Takes (Warp) – The dance-punk band is receiving strong reviews for their third album. Air : Pocket Symphony (Astralwerks) – This one's getting panned by a lot of critics, but I'm sure if you like the band, you'll dig [...]

Birmingham, AL Look out y'all! Someone must've slipped a little jungle juice into Maria Taylor 's cereal before she recorded her latest album. Note: Maria has recorded three albums as one half of the vocal duo Azure Ray, and this is her second solo album. Sound: Less icy and dreamy than her debut, 11:11 . Lynn Teeter Flower still features Maria's warm and gentle vocals, but with more organic production and a new-found emphasis on classic pop songcraft and beefed-up rhythms...

In realizing that February contained a conspicuously sparse amount of posting from myself, I am wanting to cover quite a few bands and artists, from various genres. So, here are some things that are happening. First on the docket is Birmingham, Alabama native Maria Taylor. I've loved her voice since the days of Azure Ray, when I first heard "Safe and Sound" in my old 94 Dodge Caravan. Azure Ray's Hold On Love was another strong release, but when Maria started releasing her own material on Saddle Creek, debuting with [...]

Maria Taylor Lynn Teeter Flower Saddle Creek ; March 6th, 2007 Oh, Maria Taylor. You make me happy. I guess you always have, but for awhile I wasn't sure— 11:11 wasn't my all-time favorite. It wasn't like I hated it or anything, it's just that when I was feeling like a Maria day was coming, I grabbed something Azure Ray. Your first solo record didn't captivate me. Lynn Teeter Flower has, I think. [...]
