Trying to determine "the best" album of the year is always going to be an exercise in subjectivity, and well it should be. Ian Kehoe's singer-songwriter debut is a good effort from top to bottom, even though his voice distractingly resembles The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle. Marine Dreams is the debut album from former Attack in Black bassist Ian Kehoe. Not that I had ever heard of Attack in Black, but they put out a couple of albums in their native Canada in the mid-to-late '00s before moving on to other things. Attack in Black appears to have ceased to be a going concern, at least for now, but that’s certainly not due to a lack of productivity on the part of its scattered membership.
