A voi l’ardua sentenza. THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION Meat + Bone [Sub Pop] LEGGI LA RECENSIONE Sporco, dissonante, sorprendente, non convenzionale. Jon Spencer è come il [...]

So the waiting is over, and here are the first twenty entries in our Top 100 of 2012, part of MM's much expanded Best of the Year review. Over the next five days we will reveal our favourite songs and those of our contributors: Mrs Mackerel, Christy Popper, Barry-Sean, Dr Roddy, Polly Pocket, Middle Sprat, Starbie, and Toy Steve. These are not the most "popular" songs of the year, nor do they lay any subjective claim to being the "best", but they are without doubt the favourites of all those who have written for MM one way or another this [...]

WhoMadeWho and the Mark Lanegan Band covered one of the other band's songs. The Mark Lanegan Band did WhoMadeWho's Below The Cherry Moon and the Dannish trio reworked Lanegan’s Deep Black Vanishing Train . The two tracks are available on a red 7”, limited to 1111 copies. All proceeds from this 73 will be donated to Amnesty International.
Alternatif müziğin iki önemli ismi WhoMadeWho ve Mark Lanegan, Uluslararası Af Örgütü (Amnesty International) yararına bir araya gelip geliri tümüyle kuruluşa bırakılacak bir çalışma yaptı. WhoMadeWho, Mark Lanegan'ın "Funeral Blues" albümünden "Deep Black Vanishing Train" için; Mark Lanegan da WhoMadeWho'nun "Brighter" albümünden "Below The Cherry Moon" için kendi versiyonlarını uyguladı. Böyle anlamlı bir işbirliği için [...]
Every year has its turkey albums. Once a year, we take the opportunity to put them out of their misery. It's the 2012 Turkey Shoot! This is an idea I've stolen from the fantastic Chicago Public Radio program Sound Opinions. Once a year, Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot get together to take [...]

By Steve Mcgillivray August 29, 2012 It's been a while since I last saw Mark Lanegan. Back then he was still the front man of US rock band Screaming Trees and was playing Glasgow's Garage in support of their album Dust. Some 16 years later I'm looking forward to seeing Mark Lanegan perform again, this time in the guise of singer with the Mark Lanegan Band . Judging by the average age of the audience tonight, I'm not alone in being familiar with him in his role as Screaming Trees’ lead [...]

Yes, mosherama! This podcast draws its name, slightly sadly, not from the fact that I have been in one insane moshpit after another this week, which might have been quite cool, but from the rather more mundane circumstance that I have simply been to quite a lot of gigs. I did mosh, in a sense. In the fat, sad old man sense that I stood sort of in the middle and nodded my head vaguely in time to the music. I know, I know, who will save society from such excess? This must be a job for Carol [...]

Photo by Ted Maider Most people who came to Sasquatch! camped in tents and RVs in either the more peaceful VIP camping section or the favela on the hill camping section. Fellow writer/photographer Harley and I were in the very small minority of people who drove home every night after the whole festival was over. During the night drive back to Quincy, WA, we'd try to suss out and synthesize the day's music, the people we saw, what costumes they were wearing, what native culture those costumes were appropriating, the things that were mumbled [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases , Q + A Steve Gullick It's been eight year since Mark Lanegan 's last solo outing, 2004's Bubblegum (credited to the Mark Lanegan Band). But that's not to say that the former Screaming Trees signer has been sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Far from it. The ensuing years have found Lanegan busier than ever, collaborating [...]

The pandemonium and mass confusion that accompanies the opening of a music festival, let alone one such as Sasquatch Music Festival where you park in a semi-organized fashion in random fields next to tents and cows, is akin to very few other experiences in a lifetime. The herding, the terror in the eyes of lost souls, the cattle brands... Well, there might as well be cattle brands because, let's face it, as much as we all enjoy a multitude of bands playing incredible music in one of the world's most stunning outdoor venues, organizing ourselves on a mass scale just [...]

photo by Gerrit Feenstra For those of us out here at the Gorge, Memorial Weekend has started. Camping grounds are packed full of tents and cars are blowing their speakers on pump up tunes. Waiting in massive lines exchanging tickets for wristbands, we got to meet new friends and share our love for the bands we are excited to see. Inching closer and closer to opening time, the anticipation builds and excitement fills the air. It's no secret that Sasquatch! is a massive communal experience, but every year, the same joy of sharing those ecstatic feelings [...]
