Here’s a clip of the title track from singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright ’s 7th studio album, Out Of The Game , scheduled for release on April 23rd in the UK and 24th in US. Produced by producer extraordinaire Mark Ronson , this collection will be, according to Rufus himself, “the most pop album I’ve ever made.” Rufus and Ronson… I’m liking the sound of this.

We got an early listen to Rufus Wainwright's "most pop album [he's] ever made" last week in the form of a promising yet decidedly un-poppy cut called "Montauk," but this week comes a preview of the title track, a mid-tempo jam that might make for a better fit on Top 40 radio... if it were the late 1970s. Which, as longtime Steely Dan fans, means this one is being thoroughly enjoyed around here. Producer Mark Ronson has a solid reputation for revitalizing older genres in a worthwhile way and this is a prime example: [...]

Back in December we covered a really cool party in downtown LA that featured generations of influential musicians collaborating in a capacity not quite seen before. The Re:Generation Music Project is a film that follows the genesis, process, and ultimate results of these unique collaborations. 5 influential DJs at the top of their genres are profiled, including DJ Premier, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and The Crystal Method. Head to select theaters around the USA today only (2/23/2012) for your chance to see this forward thinking documentary on the big screen in all of it's glory. [...]

Rufus Wainwright returns to the pop foray with his eagerly anticipated new album, Out of the Game, to be released May 1st on Decca. Produced by the celebrated Mark Ronson, this is the seventh studio album from one of the most accomplished, contemporary singer-songwriters today. A labor of love for both Wainwright and Ronson, Rufus calls Out of the Game, “the most pop album I’ve ever made,” while Ronson recently stated, “it’s the best work of my career.” Recorded in New York in the fall of 2011, the twelve songs are hook-laden, memorably arranged tracks [...]

Rufus Wainright describes his seventh studio LP, the Mark Ronson-produced Out of the Game , as "the most pop album I’ve ever made.” Our first taste, however, is a decidedly un-poppy ballad called "Montauk". Riding some light, fluttery piano work, Wainwright outlines his family life in Montauk, detailing the ups and downs of domestic bliss through his unique lyrical lens (i.e. trying to be a good dad who just so happens to wear kimonos). Stream it below (via KCRW ). Out of the Game hits stores on May [...]

Mellow Chill Hip Hop Rap and other stuff. Another weekend has passed and the Weekday has started again with a Monday! Go see REGERENATION:MUSIC PROJECT - the documentary about today's premier hip hop and electro producers, DJs and artists and what happens when they pair them with historic music figures to create unorthodox tracks. I saw it last Thursday (its only being shown two Thursdays this month in select cities). Its a great documentary for so many reasons. One - the music is awesome. Two - the DJs/Producers/Artists showcased are incredible. Three - it gives an intriguing glimpse into how [...]
On a sunny day in Santa Monica, Skrillex waits at the soundboard of a local studio while John Densmore , drummer for The Doors , enters the room. “I’m a dinosaur,” says the legendary drummer, “I’ve never heard of you but my son wants your autograph.” Skrillex, who took home three Grammys last weekend, has a similar sentiment. “Really? That’s cool,” he says, “I’ve heard of you. The only difference is my dad would probably ask for your autograph too.” In a day and age where the same generation of music lovers who worship [...]

Coca-Cola taps Mark Ronson, Katy B for London 2012 Olympics spot
The MARK RONSON got paid loads of dosh to travel the world with Coca-Cola so they can create a new dance mp3 using the sounds of sport from five Olympic hopefuls. The KATY B got paid substantially less to provide vox on the choon. Below is the horrendous video that's only worthy of a view for that moment a helicopter zooms out of the Olympic village, and you can almost spot me home. PS FYI 162 days to go till the Olympics hit nodnoL town.
Re:Generation: The mighty Skrillex makes a cameo If the Grammys showed us anything this year -- aside from the apparently difficult pronunciation of Bon f'ing Iver -- it was that electronic mus
Last night one of the main ideas from the Re:Generation Music Project was put on display from the Late Show with David Letterman. Mark Ronson brought Erykah Badu, Zigaboo Modeliste and the Dap-Kings horn players to show off their "A La Modeliste," which absolutely slays. So good. I really need to see that whole movie, [...]

The Re:Generation collaboration featuring Mark Ronson, Erykah Badu, Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, and members of the Dap-Kings performed their track "A La Modeliste" on The Late Show with David Letterman last night. Watch the replay below. Bonus points to Badu for pulling off the high heel ice skates.
On his show last night, David Letterman played host to an interesting collection of talent: Astral soul-queen Erykah Badu, star producer Mark Ronson, legendary Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, and various and sundry Dap-Kings. They all got together to play a vintage-sounding bit of Louisiana jazz-funk called "A La Modeliste," and it was all very Treme . Watch it below. Read More...
We've talked plenty about the RE:GENERATION project in the past 6 or so months and last night a hell of a lot more people were made to get familiar. Erykah Badu paid a visit to the Late Show with David Letterman to put in a performance of her Mark Ronson featuring track " A La Modeliste ". As we've seen previously in the official video the track also features Mos Def , Trombone Shorty and Zigaboo Modeliste. See the talents clash in a culmination of live music at the top.
