Last week was big. Like, really big. It was quite possibly the busiest GIGANTIC night ever. There was a really good crowd right from the start, and it just kept filling up. It was mad. The place went off, and the party then ended up back at my apartment, where it kept going until the wee hours of the morning. It was a really lovely mix of peeps too. Loads of old school heads, which means being able to get away with playing GIGANTIC anthems from way back, right at peak time. Here [...]

Happy 2nd Birthday to The Burning Ear! Holy cow. It was exactly 2 years ago (!?) today that I launched The Burning Ear from the butt wedge of my old couch. Since then it's been nothing but a pleasure to share all of these great jams with you guys and gals. To all you regular readers and commenters, I love you all and look forward to another two! However, we all know 2 years olds don't have patience for speeches so lets get right to the presents! I've got three gifts for you all, of which [...]
![Remix Roundup Vol. 20 – 4.16.10 [Bloc Party, Tegan & Sara, Neon Indian, Brahms...]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2482053_lg.jpg)
Some real gems up in here. A couple ass-shakers, mood setters, and a trifecta of hip-hop sampling mashups to round things out. Get in! For more jams or by any of these artists use the 'tags' links at the bottom of the post! ♫ Marmaduke Duke - Kid Gloves (Electrically Charged Boy remix) / It's this remix that inspired me to track down Marmaduke Duke's jams and if you're listening then you know why. I can't stop grooving to this funked out re-do of the mellow original. It's still [...]

you've got a whole lot of mystery, baby's got a bad bad history ♫ Marmaduke Duke - Rubber Lover After falling hard for Biffy Clyro's last album I stumbled upon their lead singer's other band, Marmaduke Duke. Their second album, Duke Pandemonium, came out last may and is filled with the kind of weirdo beats and vocals that could only be the work of a dude who is already making his cash elsewhere. Sometimes that pays off, as on "Rubber Lover" where in under 2 minutes we are taken on [...]

Welcome back, I hope this finds you well etc. If you're reading this, hopefully you will have seen the previous post, 50-41. This time we've got some kooky ozzies, aggro from Watford and a vacuum cleaner. So without further ado, here is the second part of 2STEPS' Albums Of The Year list 2009, enjoy.. 40: Richard Hawley - Truelove's Gutter With his 6th album Richard Hawley achieved his masterpiece. You could have seen it coming but when it did, it surpassed expectations with stunning [...]

10. Bye Bye Bicycle - Compass A psychedelic indie-rock adventure into mid-70's orchestral disco. 9. Marmaduke Duke - Duke Pandemonium Pop without boundaries. [...]

84. The Rakes 'Klang!' (V2) - Rightfully bumped them off for good. 83. Peter Doherty 'Grace/Wastelands' (EMI) - Just another meatless hint of what could be. 82. Little Boots 'Hands' (Sixsevenine) - Alright, but the weakest of all the year's lass pop. 81. [...]

In between banging on about how great Public Enemy once were, screaming across the Glastonbury hospitality area informing Friendly Fires of how "dark" he felt their set was and being force-fed the latest in indie drivel by his hoards of minions like an inflated cash-cow pinata with a ridiculously slamming-head-on-table level of annoyance, Radio 1's prodigal token New Zealander Zane Lowe does, very occasionally, hit the nail on the head. Hottest record in the world right now, quite probably. Following on from Simon Neil's rip-roaring rollercoaster extravaganza with Sucioperro's JP Reid for twisted pop fetishists Marmaduke Duke, Biffy Clyro [...]

A thesis could be transcribed describing the primordial testosterone-fuelled post-GCSE war field that is Reading Festival yet little more than scratching the mere surface with a scalpel would realistically be achieved. This weekend saw circle pits-turned boxing rings during The Chapman Family , wrestling in front of Karen O, permanent marker sales boom in the surrounding area as obscenities were scrawled across foreheads and forearms relentlessly and a stretcher or two carrying away victims of bottle showers. It's been compared with Guantanamo Bay as well as concentration camps and whilst that may be a fair few steps too far, [...]

(image via ffound ) Giornate pienissime.
Marmaduke Duke unleash their third single from their second album "Duke Pandemonium." For the single release of "Silhouettes" the band will be releasing a "Jacknife Lee" remix of the track. The Duke's second album was always something that would seem to yield interesting remixes. Jacknife Lee puts "Silhouettes" on crack. At times it feels like [...]
Ahhh, Marmaduke Duke , how I love thee. This is the video to their new single, Silhouettes which is out on 6th July. [See post to watch Flash video]
Marmaduke Duke's upcoming single 'Silhouettes', which is released on 6 July 2009. It's the third and final single from their second album 'Duke Pandemonium' and is the completing video of the trilogy or animated videos. Share This:

Death to Promo Aren't blogs great? All the music you could possibly want at the click of a button? And then you don't even need to stay on t'internet to play them all back, Spotify. Grand. Faced with an Everest of promo singles (and a solitary full record) the merit of dishing out endless plastic discs throughout the UK and even the world is waning. With today's release of Coldplay's live album 'Left Right Left Right Left' recorded God-knows-where, it's about the last thing we need and the title's about as original as its conception yet [...]

OK, I've been looking to post up this Marmaduke Duke track for ages, simply because it absolutely slays, and has destroyed many a peak time dancefloor at Gigantic . If you're as yet unfamiliar with the band, it's a sort of experimental side project consisting of Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neill and JP Reid of Sucioperro . Their second album Duke Pandemonium has recently been released. It's a concept record, and the second in what is to be a series of three. It's also a work of genius. Go buy [...]

Back in 2003 two of Scotland's leading noise-smiths got together with the idea of forming a band based around the idea of concepts and making a soundtrack to hedonism, decadence, deviance and dancing. The band in motion is ' Marmaduke Duke ' formed by Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro and P J Reid of Sucioperro. After forming in 2003 it wasn't until 2005 that the bands debut album 'The Magnificent Duke' was released, this was mainly down to the duo's commitments with other bands, this is the same case and reason why new album [...]

I wrote about Marmaduke Duke a month or so ago now when their album first leaked onto the internet. I'll do a full review now seeing as the album is out on Monday and I've had more of a chance to listen to it. The album opens with the slow paced track "Heartburn." The song is a solid opening to the album and does feature a good instrumental however it lacks the eccentricity the rest of the album has. "Everybody Dance" makes up for that in leaps and bounds though, with the catchy opening guitar riff and simple [...]
G ood morning, I hope you're having a good bank holiday weekend. Is it May Day? Happy May Day if it is! Anyway, here is part 2 of our album run down for the week, and what a week for albums it is. Last time we covered Gallows' punk monster of a comeback, The Horror's breath-taking reincarnation, Esser's summery fun debut and Conor Oberst and his Mystic Valley Band impressing us. Here's some more, including The Maccabees eagerly awaited 2nd album, which I rushed out and bought today especially! Haha, read on... [...]
