Martin Bisi has been, in his words, a "performer, producer, Cultural Antagonist" since the early 80's when he was at the fore of the downtown NYC avant-rock scene. He is known for recording important records by Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Material, Bill Laswell, Helmet, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop, White Zombie, Boredoms, Angels of Light and Herbie Hancock's Grammy-winning song Rockit. In 1979, Martin Bisi started BC Studio with Bill Laswell and Brian Eno in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn, where he recorded many of the No Wave, punk bands, and hip-hop of the early 1980s including Lydia Lunch, [...]

Traveling 'twixt blurred reality and dream-induced states, Fern Knight has been known to produce gothic and arcane lullabies with a well-balanced dosage of prog-rock undertones. The band's compelling music explores the sounds and imagery of an older time, where quality, magic, and mystery seemed to have a stronger presence than now during this virtual and digital age of convenience and commodity. Speaking of, should you take a quick detour to google the band, you may read that their music is for "Witches and Alchemists". Perhaps the very thought of witches, alchemists, Tarot cards, and that whole array [...]
Any project involving either of the Dresden Dolls is enough to get us excited, so we're happy to report that Dolls drummer Brian Viglione will be appearing at Brillobox in Lawrenceville on May 2. Viglione is actually playing second-fiddle on this appearance, drumming for veteran rock producer Martin Bisi, who is headlining the show. Bisi's been working behind the scenes since the '70s, when he opened a studio with Brian Eno. Bisi has been at the helm for several Sonic Youth records as well as the Dresden Dolls' debut album. But those aren't the coolest credits on his [...]

As both a musician and a record producer, New York's Martin Bisi has all the right hook-ups in the industry. Since the 80's, Bisi has managed his own studio alongside Brian Eno, releasing albums by Sonic Youth, The Dresden Dolls, White Zombie, Helmet, and Herbie Hancock among others, while also maintaining a solid and impressive solo career. Now, the Brooklynite is kicking off 2010 with his all new followup EP to 2009's Sirens Of The Apocalypse entitled Son Of A Gun . And, not surprisingly, he has tapped several of his high profile friends to [...]

I get word that he has just released an EP of his own music. The record, Son of a Gun, sees Bisi joined by a slew of great musicians including Bill Laswell, and members of Fiery Furnaces and Dresden Dolls. You can get a taste
