
Seattle's Shannon Stephens returns to the Mitten on the heels of her new release Pull It Together ( Asthmatic Kitty ). It seems that the final Stevens sibling has finally gotten her 15 (or more precisely, 17:02) minutes of fame. The morning of August 20, Sufjan released a new EP entitled ' All Delighted People .' The last track on this sprawling 60 minute EP is titled Djohariah, the name of Sufjan's little known sister. The Stevens brothers have made big names for themselves - Sufjan has essentially indie god status while Marzuki is a marathoner who qualified for the 2008 Olympic trials after finishing 20th overall in the 2006 Boston Marathon. Marzuki, oh Marzuki. The birth place of one of our fore-fathers of modern music today. That's right Sufjan Stevens. Marzuki was a college band from Michigan in the mid to late 1990's and was named after Sufjan's brother Marzuki Stevens ( a professional marathon and long distance runner). Members included Shannon Stephens on vocals and guitar, Jamie Kempers on cello, Matthew Haseltine on guitar and bass, and none other than Sufjan Stevens on guitar, percussion, and some of the more exotic instruments. Alot of their lyrics explored spiritual and romantic themes, not to uncommon from Mr. Stevens' current musings. [...]
