Filthy Little Angels Pound The Pavement Filthy Little Angels have done it again. After rumours of their demise were greatly exaggerated March sees them release another of their famous, and famously free, compilations an unparalleled collection of cover versions of Pavement songs. 'Show Me A Word That Rhymes With Pavement' is the usual FLA serving of unknown indie bands that range from [...]

Who else but the wonderfully naughty elves at Filthy Little Angels , (the preeminent label for unique compilations) could put together such a cool Pavement cover collection !?! So, to be honest, I couldn't tell you the name of a Pavement song if you held a gun to my head and played one for me. I doubt I could pick one out of a line up of songs even! But this is still a cool compilation of new music and it gives new, some of them unheard, bands a chance to spread their music. So hop over to [...]

The charmingly monikered Filthy Little Angels label released Monday its long-anticipated, freely downloadable Pavement tribute compilation Show Me A Word That Rhymes With Pavement . While the collection is uneven, it is not all that much more uneven than historically notable (or at least the first three at the top of mind) tribute comps Step Right Up , Give Me The Cure or Homage . The repertoire on the Pavement comp, of course, is untouchable, but certain of the covers struggle (some fail) to convey either the emotional heft [...]
I used to love Casey Kasem. Somehow he managed to make listening to crappy top 40 songs, seem fun and exciting. Long distance dedications? Yes, please. We used to post a monthly roundup of our favorite music from the previous month. The problem is that we've been getting overwhelmed. Between the promos that labels have started sending us (sorry, I refuse to suck up to this Vampire Weekend side-project. Are we the only ones that find this even more boring than listening to A-Punk for the zillionth time?), and the demos random bands [...]

Chances are that you haven't heard any of these three bands, but you might want to take a second and give them a listen. The Answering Machine The Answering Machine are a quartet hailing from Manchester, UK who play infections part-rock sounding something like a combination of the Fratellis and Los Campesinos. Their upcoming album is due out in March, but you can download the fun, fresh "Another City, Another Sorry" below. Also, check out the band's MySpace page for more info [...]

Finally we dug deep in our mailbox to reveal the cream of the crop we got sent in the last month. Electronic Xylos - In the Bedroom Brooklyn five piece Xylos fuses tropical sounds with happy-go-lucky indie pop songwriting. You can download their debut 5 song EP on their band site . More Xylos on Deli Magazine . Diego Bernal - Bring it on home Exponential artist Diego Bernal is a San Antonio, TX based civil [...]
We love bands with a good sense of humour. We also love bands that have a good pop sensibility. So when you can find a band that combines the two, we are very very happy. That's the case with Mascot Fight. A four-piece out of the UK, the band has already made appearances on The Beeb on the taste-making Steve Lamacq show. I'm sure we'll be getting a taste of them this side of the pond soon.

When I first started putting this week's mix together, I was stumped to find anything i really liked. It's been a slow week for me (musically), and nothing was really all that appealing to me. Then, it started. New stuff from the Decemberists in my inbox! At just that moment, a song was playing on TV which caught my ear. Turns out to be the brother of Welsh singer Jem. From there, things magically started to fall into place. Source after source, track by track, the mix came together. So now, I can present to you the whole bunchload of [...]

Hello everyone! Well.....have you recovered yet? Wasn't it GREAT! Who can forget the Christmassy marquee, the storming sets from all three bands, that Snowman outfit and the disco in the dark? There's already a few reviews online - check out the blog of Kris from A Smile and a Ribbon , who entertained everyone with his wonderfully chosen records - and you can see his uber-impressive playlist there too! Also, we just want to say a big thanks to reviewer Julie Weston and her young daughter Mabel who came along from Egigs- visit the site to see [...]

Howdy there kiddas, how are you feeling today? Isn't the weather bonkers at the moment? I know lots of you will be popping along to this Sunday's Midland Railway benefit gig at the wonderful Lee Rosy's in Nottingham, so make sure you're armed with your brollies! Lots of Indietracks bands will be playing, such as Pete Green, the Bobby McGees and Pocketbooks, and we'll be posting up a review and piccies here as soon as we can! [...]
