As if to remind us that outside of Hollywood many things age rather well, Masters Of The Hemisphere have made their finest work with new album, Maybe These Are The Breaks . Rather than continue with syrupy descriptions you'll be better served to take in the video below. Our world has already hit critical mass with second and third hand opinions. Masters of the Hemisphere released a new album just last week, and many of our readers were outraged by our review...was it too low...was it too high? Read for yourself HERE . But before you do that, check out the video for "Watch It Go Away" after the jump. Read more » http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ ping
Earlier this year, seminal indie pop outfit Masters of the Hemisphere reunited after nearly 10 years on what seemed like a permanent hiatus. And all four founding members of the Athens, Ga.-based group were involved in the creation of their new album, Maybe These Are The Breaks . The record dropped last week via Kindercore/Magic Marker and features the guys back in the mode of crafting super-catchy, guitar-driven tunes. That's particularly apparent on single "Watch it Go Away," a slightly somber track that now features nostalgic, summery visuals by director Chris Rogers. He and his crew have [...]
Maybe These Are the Breaks is a well-crafted album of sad-sack songs rendered in Masters of the Hemisphere's trademark bubblegum-pop framework, though it is also frustratingly inconsistent and poorly ordered. Athens, Georgia, indie-pop/rock mavens Masters of the Hemisphere have been quiet for a long, long time. Nine years to be exact. Ergo, it has been a long wait for fans of the group wanting something new from the band. Now, finally, they're back! For those who missed them the first time around, Masters of the Hemisphere were great at distilling indie-pop with the power-pop crunch of yesteryear sounds. [...]

![Summertime Mp3s [Mixtape]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3365526_lg.jpg)
So as spring turns to summer, we change our dress, we spend more time outside and we take like a little bit slower (hopefully). Summertime music is very different than other seasons. With the change in our regular activities focused on spending time outside, the music we listen might be more chilled, ambient, less intrusive, fun and bright. Our friends at See The Leaves SF , who kindly made a summertime mixtape for us (see below), described summertime music as anything 90s hip hop. While we agree, we'd like to suggest a few other tracks, while also including some [...]

Masters Of The Hemisphere - Anything, Anything This was buried deep in my library. I'm pretty sure these dudes aren't together anymore.
HAMMJAMM is a state of mind

I'm sitting here in my media bunker at Austin's Top Notch taking in the music and drunken revelry of South By Southwest over a plate of world-famous fried chicken and onion rings. Just kidding. I'm actually sitting on my couch taking in the street noise with a PB&J ... on toast. Am I still sexy? If I were at SXSW, I'd be in line to see Still Flyin' , the 75-member San Fran HAMMJAMM band fronted by Sean Rawls (Masters of the Hemisphere and Je Suis France ) [...]
Song obsessions are those songs that we listen to on repeat. I noticed that my obsessions are often a week long. I also thought that other people might have similar obsessions. I've collected a panel of a few like-minded individuals and gotten their "song obsessions of the week." Quite often it's easy to explain why the song is good; it's much hard to explain why we're obsessed. Maybe you'll become obsessed with one of these. - Adrian ( me ): The Tallest Man on Earth - The Gardener [...]

A day late.... Oz (me): The Acorn - Dents It's hard to find a subtle use of the banjo, but The Acorn find a way to mix it in with an incredible song about human relationships changing their course. _ Adrian : Arcade Fire - Intervention I was in Hawaii. My friend and I rented a car with a CD player; I hadn't brought any CDs. He had brought three: Neon Bible and two Tom Waits CDs. I'm [...]

In 1997 the then-youngish label of Kindercore Records, operating out of Athens, GA, put out a compilation called Christmas in Stereo. It featured some hip bands like The Olivia Tremor Control and The Mendoza Line , and some more obscure ones, just getting started, like... Summer Hymns and of Montreal . It was a top seller and apparently a lot of fun to compile, so two years later, as the label started to gather more fans and started to put together a rather brilliant lineup, they put out a sequel to [...]
