So this is coming a little later than I was hoping, but nonetheless, here 'tis, a lovely album with which to end a long day. I think Matchbox Twenty's success in the 90s is a fairly unique occurrence. When Yourself or Someone Like You came out it was praised for successfully navigating the waters of a period of mainstream music where alternative music was still in vogue to some degree (though not in the extreme sense of grunge), while at the same time more adult-friendly pop and rock were starting to reclaim the spotlight. Today if [...]
In the last 48 hours word got out about two fairly impressive releases due out later in 2009. First, we got more details about 21st Century Breakdown , the forthcoming Green Day album. So, the whole idea behind guilty pleasures is that you should feel at least somewhat guilty about listening to them. If you don't feel guilty about it, do you really have a guilty pleasure? Technically, no. But there are cases were you should feel guilty about it, but don't for some reason. Usually you "justify it" in some crazy and not-completely-logical way. Yeah, we know you do it (and, in all honesty, we may or may not do it ourselves). Without further ado, here are some songs that should-be our guilty pleasures (and some [...]
I associate summer and driving quite heavily and frequently make a summer CD mix for the sole purpose of driving around with the windows down and the stereo turned up. I didn't make one this year, partly because I'm also car-less this year for the first time in more than a decade (eep!), but here's a few of my favourites. Rebel Girl - Bikini Kill The trash-can sound of the drums in this song is so awesome, and then there's Kathleen Hanna belting it out over top. So [...]

Plus a number of other notable albums that are defiantly worth checking out. Sunset Rubdown - Random Spirit Lover Sunset Rubdown - [...]

Picture taken by an old friend. Check out his stuff here . I love when certain songs take you back to a specific point in your life. Here are some of my music-related memories in the last few years: Eisley - Telescope Eyes from Room Noises [...]
