Matt Longo - Level-Headed Man This folky single doesn't dress itself up much. It's an ordinary suit that looks at you earnestly with a sweet n' simple bouquet of daisies - there's no bling in this. Let it get past the big change - there's a false ending in there where you thought you were turned down, let down, put down. But Matt picks it up again, swings you into the arms of a catchy hook and carries you home. Check out his awesomely cover art'd Coward EP up on Bndcmp.

Matt Longo - "Ali, Please" Matt emailed me a few days after I posted a track by the Traveling Wilburys late last year. He was telling me he how he enjoyed that post and shared similar memories. It was nice to get an email from someone who sounded human while talking about music. In this email, he also linked me to his Bandcamp page. I decided to check it out, and thankfully, I liked what I heard. It would have 'pissed' me off if I got this nice email from someone and their music totally sucked! [...]

Matt Longo, from Harlem, NY, is a brilliant composer and writer, producer, singer, guitarist who together, with several other musicians (Brian, i'm looking at you), who put together an album, Alexandria, which has garnered enough hits of late in my books, that has some very well put songs. The High Life represents the high points in Matt's past relationship and is very short yet sweet (can you say perfect metaphor?), whereas the song, Building a Wall, represents all that hurts, which i guess in Matt's case, was a lot... The whole album, although very short is just perfect (i know [...]
Matt Longo recently recorded and released his EP "Alexandria" in November, the album features melodic folk accompanied by acoustic instrumentation. Most of the EP features an array of influences which are obvious through it; country, folk, pop. The most prominent...

The High Life Matt Longo, formerly the lead singer of Sex During Wartime, wrote and recorded this sweet little EP in Harlem, NY, entitled Alexandria. His writing and playing is an honest reflection of a relationship in its highs (The High Life) and lows (Building a Wall). The music is an amalgamation of influences fom indie-pop to country. Alexandria is a wonderful album that is available for free on Matt's Bandcamp. I'm really glad he came forward and shared his art with me, and I'm pleased to give you a chance to hear it as well. A rather mixed bag of songs but these are among the best I've recently found in the mailbox... + Crushed Stars – Eyeliner + Shake The Baron – Zodiak + The Dark Clan & Null Device – Fading Belief + Matt Longo – The High Life [...]

The cover art of Matt Longo's album Alexandria says: "To be played at a moderate volume...". I usually want my music to be played an unreasonably loud levels. However, I can make an exception for light music that sits well on lower volumes with a nice cup of tea. Prepared to get swept off your feet by the honest sincerity of Matt Longo's "The High Life". Lasting a little less than two minutes, it literally defines the meaning short but sweet. It's taken from his newly finished album Alexandria . The [...]
