The Tree Ring @ San Diego Women's Club by Natalie Kardos . The Tree Ring top my list of top song obsessions for 2011. Frontman Joel P West also appears on the list. Song obsessions are those songs that your brain picks for you, those ear worms that get stuck in your head and have you singing them to yourself or going back to hit repeat on your ipod. I like the idea of reporting what my brain got stuck on each year. Here's the list of the songs that were stuck in [...]

As our list continues, we not only were able to find some of the best songs this year, but were floored with some new discoveries as well as some returning ones. Enjoy our Top 100 Songs of 2011 as our list continues. 75. Germany Germany - Intro IV (Order/Disorder) Crisp loops and melodies were easy to swallow here. Germany Germany's 2011 album, Adventures , was certainly that. This whole album showed much promise and replayability throughout 2011. 74. The Pear Traps - Home As simple [...]
New York-based Matt Pond PA formed by singer-songwriter Matt Pond in 1998 is one of my top picks in indie-rock music, and while I don't usually like to choose favourites, their music never fails to impress me. With more than 16 albums released over the past 13 years, this talented band is known to frequently collaborate with a variety of musicians in order to achieve their unique and diverse sound. While earlier albums such as " Emblems " (2004) and " [...]

Who doesn't love The Beach Boys? Probably a lot of people actually... but those people are jerks and I don't like them. Not a whole bunch of new stuff out today. Mostly re-issues and junk like that. There is the new Metallica/ Lou Reed/Your Drunk Uncle Ted, "album" thing that I have not listened to because I fully expect it to not be all that great but who really knows and or cares anyway? Check out what's new and leave some comments with suggestions for your fellow humans. [...]
Philadelphia-formed, Brooklyn-based Matt Pond PA is one of those acts that critics seem to love to bash. The band's 2002 effort, The Green Fury , earned one of those strange, vindictive-seeming Pitchfork reviews — a 1.8, for sounding too much like a boring Adam Duritz record.… [ Read more ] [ Subscribe to the comments on this story ]

A few questions I'm often asking myself: Didn't this happen last decade to a completely different reaction? Where did the money come from? and Isn't the news media such a sham considering their collusion and gross unabashed worship? As if any of this had been good for the middle class. "Velvet Elvis" from Alex Winston "Endless Summer" from The Jezabels [...]
A special night for fans of Sonoma County live music; local musicians touring nationally with Matt Pond PA and Rocky Votolato reunite with their friends.

Minor Kingdom Matt Pond PA Minor Kingdom and Matt Pond PA came by the Bottom of the Hill on Tuesday night. As with most evenings at the Bottom of the Hill, the music was loud, the beers were cold and the bands brought their right game. Minor Kingdom, a local 4-piece led by Kristian Melom, opened, playing most of the songs off their latest LP, Don't Worry Baby . Matt Pond PA rolled out quickly after and stormed through hits from their slew of albums [...]
This month, I took a bit of a tumble during a rousing game of Ultimate Frisbee. And several of those lovely metatarsals you see above were inclined to go their separate ways. The inability to drive, walk, and shower properly have all led to a crazed/frustrated manner towards all things sedentarily inclined. I could be/SHOULD [...]
Typically when you tell an artist to "break a leg," you are wishing them luck in their upcoming performance. Unfortunately, Matt of Matt Pond PA fell victim to the old saying this past Tuesday evening when he suffered a broken leg. The band was on the first day of their 30+ city US tour. They had to cancel their dates in Cleveland and Harrisburg while Matt underwent surgery. Luckily, the surgery went well and Matt played last night in Brooklyn (you know where I was!). Not familiar with Matt Pond PA? Well… With most bands, if [...]
As summer begins to melt away like a brilliant setting sun, the weather will soon turn more brisk, the leaves on the trees will die a flashy, colorful death and the air will become more crisp. The first week of September is a seminal time of the year - millions of kids are back in [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Matt Pond PA continues their extremely hard working ethic with more and more music coming your way. This new tune called "Someone's Daughter" is a beautiful track that really conveys that intimate style we've come to know from the band. The song appears on the soundtrack for new film Lebanon, PA which is scored by band members Matt Pond and Chris Hansen. For now, we've just a stream for you and are hoping to offer a download soon.
Matt Pond PA kicks off his tour with Rocky Votolato this week in Minneapolis and we're pleased to announce that the duo's split 73 is officially out today! Head over to the Polyvinyl store to pick it up! Also out today is the soundtrack to the much talked about indie film, Lebanon, PA . The [...]

All of the album's proceeds will [...]
![[Introducing] – The Wooden Birds](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3611957_lg.jpg)
Tweet The Wooden Birds are a reincarnation of a number of different acts - Western Keys, American Analog Set, and Matt Pond PA - coming together to create an organic, unique and folk sound. This quartet - Andrew Kenny, Leslie Sisson, Sean Haskins and Matt Pond - comes to us from Austin, TX. Definitely not a stranger when it comes to the touring music scene, The Wooden Birds have made a new name for themselves by performing at SXSW and making the rounds in Europe and the [...]

Following the success of their tour earlier in the year Rocky Votolato and matt pond PA will be heading out on the road with dates beginning this September. "Love To Get Used" from Spring Fools EP watch them cover The Human League "Starting" dates: 09.09 – Minneapolis, MN @ 7th Street Entry 09.10 – Milwaukee, WI @ [...]

I'm not sure how I managed to miss out on the The Wooden Birds for this long. The sweet outfit from Austin includes Broken Social Scene "collaborator" Andrew Kenny, and puts out a brand of stripped-down acoustic guitar-driven music. [...]
