Yesterday, we got a taste of how diverse Flosstradamus ' production talents can be when they laced Deniro Farrar with a melancholic hip-hop beat that seemed to stand outside of their current reputation as electronic producers who can always be counted on to up the ante on a track with their patented blend of genres. They've had a remarkably consistent remixing career, the kind names are built on, by taking source material and fusing it with elements of house, footwork and trap music to take tracks to another level. We reached out to Flosstradamus to get a list of [...]

Well, as the saying goes, "Houston, we have a problem ..." But as there are never any problems or faults going on here on AN, then Texas resident Glasnost confirms that fact by cuddling up to his nearest pals with two hands adrift - wooing The Ting Tings , gives Freddy Krueger a wink n' a smile with a 'Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare' kiss from Matt & Kim.. and then pretends he's a six year old all over again by dressing up in his cute n' little Iron Man 'Bulletproof' costume, manufactured & designed by La Roux. The [...]

Let me introduce you to my go-to Winter into Spring song. Keep this one handy for rainy days. Trust me - it works. I'm 99% confident that slight head nods will turn into feel taps that will eventually turn into an inescapable beam. It's a synthy track with aptly applied vocals. The hook on Silver Screen is quite charming and will keep you coming back time and again. The feeling is comparable to Matt & Kim 's Daylight , but a little less bubbly. So go ahead… cheese a little. Beat Connection [...]

The Tree Ring @ San Diego Women's Club by Natalie Kardos . The Tree Ring top my list of top song obsessions for 2011. Frontman Joel P West also appears on the list. Song obsessions are those songs that your brain picks for you, those ear worms that get stuck in your head and have you singing them to yourself or going back to hit repeat on your ipod. I like the idea of reporting what my brain got stuck on each year. Here's the list of the songs that were stuck in [...]

Happy holidays, dudes and dudettes! Hope you got everything you wished for and downed copious amounts of egg nog. Now, on to more important stuff than family gatherings and gift exchanges....live music! Naturally, there are ton of great shows going on this week in NYC as we lead up to New Year's Eve, including some multi-night holiday runs, some late-night throwdowns, and plenty of NYE parties that don't involve watching a ball drop in 10-degree weather.

Best of 2011: (Some of the things on this list might have been created earlier than 2011, but being that I live in my own little shmience bubble, 2011 is when their existence became known to me.) Best websites of 2011 : Jukesy.com – Jukesy.com is a website that pubs itself as a mash-up between last.fm and youtube. The user searches for a band, an album, or a song, and Jukesy combs through the two websites and pulls up all relevant material. You can then create a playlist [...]

I can't help but think of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas every time I listen to Matt & Kim's "Good Old Fashion Nightmare." It's so light-heartedly eerie, so catchy yet creepy. The pint-sized husband and wife duo bring their inexhaustible energy to this tune, which is super distinctive thanks to its simple keyboard-strings-drum soundscape. Their comparison of 'lost teeth' to 'white jewels' and 'train yards' to 'bone yards' are a little out of left field, but just right for the cold and dark days of autumn-winter. Put it on your ipod next time you take a walk through [...]

The trick-or-treaters haven't even hit the doorstep and we've had enough of Halloween already. Or maybe we're just grumpy because we missed the awesome KCRW Masquerade because of a weekend warrior-related injury. Anyway, here are three Day of the Dead-appropriate videos (and a download) for your sack of candy: Indie stalwarts Superchunk have long had an affection for the Misfits — buried somewhere in their archives is a 10-year-old live version of "Horror Business." Today they released a cover of "Where Eagles [...]
Fresh off the back of a successful nationwide tour Matt & Kim have just announced a special New Years Eve show. The Brooklyn mischief makers will be playing at the Hammersmith Ballroom on December 31st for what is set to be an electrifying way to end the year and usher in 2012. For those of you who are interested tickets are available [...]

MUTEMATH's highly energized, blues-infused set painted the picture of what Florida's DeLuna Festival has begun to look like. In support of their new album, Odd Soul , the New Orleans quartet took the stage late Sunday evening with a sharp look and a new member, smiling throughout each song and filling the Sunshine State's cooling air with their signature sound. Hard hitting, head nodding tracks like "Odd Soul" and "Blood Pressure" moved the Pensacola crowd, who continued to dance barefoot in the sand as the sun took flight. It wasn't Linkin Park - the festival's final headliner [...]
