CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO Ahhhh more One Be Lo. If you been following my posts you'd know that he's my favourite MC and I think even if he isn't yours you'd recognise him as one of THE nicest out there at the moment. This is his second video from his latest release L.A.B.O.R ., which you can cop on his Bandcamp. These visuals are dope. Toni Hill kills the chorus too. One Be Lo: Twitter • [...]

Here is part two from the show at Café Nostalgica on April 29, 2011. I was more excited to see these two acts which were: Meligrove Band Matters Forgot that it was chilly outside. Once the band started playing, I totally forgot it was cold and rocked out. This is the second time [...]

Frank Yang Kingston duo PS I Love You has done a pretty good job for themselves of building a buzz around both themselves and their debut album Meet Me At The Muster Station , with their guitar orgiastic-sound resonating strongly with those who lived through and miss the days when guitar orgies were regular occurrences. But they've also gotten help with the company they keep, in particular one John O'Reagan, aka Diamond Rings , whose debut single was a split 73 with PS I Love You and with whom [...]

It was a rocking April 6th in Ottawa. Went to see: PS I Love You Matters Dreamphone Sort of a 73 release show for PS I Love You with Left Over in collaboration with Diamond Rings. Which they didn't [...]
With all the attention that Diamond Rings, aka John O'Regan, is receiving (partially because of stunning videos like his recent " It's Not My Party " clip), it's easy to think that Matters is his new side project. But Matters is actually a re-named version of his pre-Diamond Rings band, The D'Urbervilles. The re-invigorated Toronto four piece released their 7-inch single "Get In or Get Out" today, and you can preview the b-side, "Wild Steps," below. If you think of Diamond Rings as darkly romantic, consider "Wild Steps" the next phase of O'Regan's seduction: it's a little more upfront [...]

Toronto - This post is one day late, so let's get right to it. Plenty of good choices this week for you to further impair your hearing ability. Cut Copy / Holy Ghost Sound Academy, April 7th Australia's Cut Copy has been making the rounds in North America lately touring their latest album Zonoscope . The album has already produced one stunning single - Take Me Over and new single Need You Now will further cement this synthpop band as one of the best electro dance bands out there. [...]

Friends In Bellwoods Getting kind of hyper-local for this week's selection. About a week ago , Toronto post-punk stalwarts The D'Urbervilles appeared ready to be calling it a day, putting a cryptic "The D'Urbs are dead" message on their website along with a countdown clock. Many were disappointed but not surprised if this was indeed the case, given frontman John O'Reagan's successes with electro-pop side-project Diamond Rings . But as it turned out, that was just marking time until the band emerged from their chrysalis, butterfly-style, in their new guise as Matters [...]

Canvas Media There's records that you hear and, regardless of how you personally feel about them, you know that they will be a big thing, that their contents will resonate with the masses and will prove to be game-changers for the artist who created it. Timber Timbre's 2009 self-titled album was not one of these, or at least I didn't hear it. Building swampy textures and tempos around Taylor Kirk's low, drawling Randy Newman-ish vocals, it didn't seem the sort of record with a lot of crossover appeal and yet it did [...]

This will be the final post on mentioning the name "The D'Urbervilles". The big news that came out but somehow went under the radar on March 28th. The name change of the D'Urbervilles to Matters . There was a countdown last week and some people were speculating that the band was going to break up with a final album. Mostly due with John's other and successful project as Diamond Ring It was a sigh of relief for the big D'Urbervilles fans. [...]
MATTERS - Get In Or Get Out from Jared Raab on Vimeo. Before John O'Regan was Diamond Rings, he fronted dance-punk group The D'Urbervilles. The D'Urbs have been quiet while Diamond Rings' star has been on the rise, but this week they re-emerged with a new name, Matters, and a new single called "Get In Or [...]

Last week I read that Toronto band the D'Urbervilles had called it quits after their homepage and twitter were proclaiming "The D'Urbs Are Dead" and "R.I.P. thedurbs.ca". Well, turns out the band isn't dead, the name is. This John O'Regan (of Diamond Rings ) fronted band is now called Matters and will be releasing their debut single (Get In Or Get Out) on limited edition 7-inch vinyl via O'Regan's Hype Lighter label April 5th. Look for them live in Toronto and surrounding areas with grunge rockers PS I Love You around that time, full length album in the [...]
