Matthew Perry Jones is riding the strength from his 2008 release, Swallow The Sea , along with heavy support from his fans to release Land of The Living , an album that will have strong appeal to Rufus Wainwright and David Grey fans. With a hint of twang in an ocean of soaring choruses and orchestrations, Land of The Living is a beautiful demonstration of emotion in music. In a one month span Jones was able to raise $26,000 in order to create the new album that was largely inspired by the writings of [...]
Matthew Perryman Jones is often the example we use when offering up an example of what has become the "new Nashville": the famed Music City's haven for intelligent and exceptionally talented tunesmiths creatively coloring outside of the commercial country lines. Over the past decade Jones has developed a reputation for quality as well as a devoted fan base, penning and performing fleshed out and finely crafted folk/rock on albums such as 2006's excellent Throwing Punches in the Dark and the 2008 follow up Swallow the Sea . Now, four long years later, Jones returns [...]

Back in January we traveled to Nashville to film some recordings and although it was not planned, managed to squeeze in some video time with the wonderful Matthew Perryman Jones. Check him out below performing his song, "Rain or Shine" and my favorite cover that he does, Patty Griffin's "Top Of The World". . .
Matthew Perryman Jones - Journeyman Nashville songwriter strips back seven songs from his three studio albums -- and adds two new songs -- for this new collection // Release : Until the Dawn Appears (March 8) // Sounds like : While not an "unplugged" set, the starkly produced Dawn brings more personal feel to the approach..."Save You" sounds positively nocturnal with a reverbed piano and Jones' subdued vocals // What we like : the attitude of an artist comfortable to go back and tinker with his own songs...the lovely piano [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours Matthew Perryman Jones is a musician with heart and a songwriter with various influences. Raised in Georgia, he found his calling in Nashville and began making music featured on various TV shows. Just before SXSW , Spinner spoke to him about his name, why he moved to Nashville and why he wants to be in an Apple commercial. Describe your sound in your own words. I like the music to [...]
"Plays well with others" might be the official tag line for Nashville's Trent Dabbs . A noted songwriter whose own songs have surfaced on a number of the usual TV credits ( One Tree Hill , etc.), Dabbs has also been an exceptional Music City entrepreneur as the organizer/ringmaster of Ten Out of Tenn, the touring music showcase of songwriters from the Nashville area. Utilizing these artistic relationships, he's also become one of the town's most notable collaborators -- a skill he uses to full effect on his new digital release Inside These Lines (January 5). Introspective [...]

I'm sure every person on the East Coast has twittered, changed their facebook status, and blogged about this crazy (in a good way) heat, but if you are reading this post, you shouldn't be (and I shouldn't be writing it, wtf?) Unless it's to get some music for your iPod to be outside in the first shorts weather (at least NYC wise) of the year. WOOOOOOOOOOO. I love it. When the weather is better, life is better, simple as that. Enjoy these tunes, with the only theme being that I enjoy them very much. You may have heard most, but [...]

Thursday feels like the real first day of the festival, which is no surprise really, considering the fact that there are fifteen different showcases for you to choose from, or hop in between. Yes, FIFTEEN. It's enough to make your head spin, which is one of the main reasons I decided to do these showcase-by-showcase preview posts in the first place. This is going to be a night of tough decisions no matter what your tastes in music veer towards - you've got several different brands of rock and singer-songwriter stuff to choose from. [...]

Sunny Day Sets Fire 's album Summer Palace is out now and they are featured on the soundtrack of the documentary American Teen which is also out in theatres, umm, now. The time is now ! This is sinister and great: Sunny Day Sets Fire: Wilderness (CSS Remix).mp3 Jem (pictured above) was featured on the Sex and the City Soundtrack. Her album Down To Earth comes out Sept.16th and she make flyaway hair look guud. [...]

Thirty Tigers is proud to present another triple A singer/songwriter, Matthew Perryman Jones . Think Bono meets Coldplay meets Pete Yorn. Matthew's music has already been recognized in LA as perfect material for TV (he's already had placements on Kyle XY, Private Practice, Eli Stone and The Hills ...with more to come this fall), and his fan base is rapidly growing with each placement. The song "Save You" is sure to get Coldplay/U2 fans in the spirit. Check it out... The radio version of "Save You" was mixed by F. Reid Shippen [...]
Over the last year or so there has been a game of one-upsmanship when it comes to utilizing the internet to release new music. The latest entraint is rocker singer/songwriter Matthew Perryman Jones. In an effort to promote his forthcoming album, Swallow The Sea (released August 19th), Jones is giving away his previous album Throwing Punches In the Dark through www.noisetrade.com . For the low low cost of 3 friends' email addresses or $1 (your choice), you can download a digital copy of the album. [...]
Who is Matthew Perryman Jones ? [Insert Chandler reference here.] I'm not sure who he is, being that "Swallow the Sea" is the first album I've heard of his. But color me impressed. The work is very similar, vocally and lyrically, to the work of Ryan Adams, but it lacks the bitterness, the edge, or the irony. Jones is more content to allow the songs to speak for themselves, without inserting an overpowering personality into them. This is much appreciated, because too many songwriters these days seem to feel the [...]

Alrighty- I've been feeling a bit refreshed this week after an extended weekend beach getaway to the Gulf Coast last week (except for yesterday, and I've only got myself to blame for that). But the shortened week also left me a little bit behind in my musical quest for new schtuff. Thanks to Aubriane and 5andman for your comments, I only hope I can stand up to such high standards- which is why I chose not to include any Alanis Morissette on this week's mixtape. What I do have is a blend of new, slighty less [...]

This has been a shit week. I really didn't get through all my emails, newsfeeds, etc to listen to new music this week, and I don't really care to. So, you're getting a best-of mixtape sorta. It's basically the mix of some favorites from the past several months that haphazardly scobbled together. Download, listen, comment- or don't. I really don't care. Tracklisting: Cloud Cult - Pretty Voice Duffy - Warwick Avenue George Stanford [...]

What a crazy week. It actually snowed in Atlanta, enough so that a friend of mine was able to make a mini-snowman. My brake lights stopped working, thanks to a well-known design fault in the brake pedal switch that activates them. Thankfully, the repairs were covered under a recall, and the snow melted before the lights went out. Except for the Counting Crows, this week's artists are all pretty much new to me- and they're all great. It's like a musical vacation for your ears. Start out in the UK with the slowhand blues of Back Door Slam's [...]
