For fans of The Cure, I present Ballerina Black (or if you're a fan of 802s-infused hooks and riffs, you'll probably like this as much as me, too). I came across them as they received their initial radioplay in Denver this week. The trio of Bobby Moynahan (guitar, vocals), Esli Sugich (bass) and Tony Antos (drums) make up Ballerina Black. casper & the cookies are an interesting band. ive never seen em live, but from friends accts they're pretty awesome - they're actually playing the hi ho lounge here new orleans on wed, 3.16. anyway, ive listened to most of their releases, and while they may not always be my thing, they are definitely fun. anyway, they got a free record out thats filled with songs that were featured on comps, 73's, tour only cds, etc. not all of its awesome, but again, if you're into very quirky pop, you will definitely dig this. grab it via their site [...]
