"under review", es un (muy buen) documental de casi hora y media, que rescata material raro e inédito de the velvet underground , proveniente de colecciones particulares, como la del mismo warhol. fotografías privadas, entrevistas, clips de televisión, films promocionales... todo estupendo si obviamos un patinazo tan flagrante como el de presentar a nico como "beautiful hungarian chanteuse".

"Loaded" is the fourth album from The Velvet Underground, and was released a month after Lou Reed had left the band. All songs were written by Lou Reed except "Ride Into The Sun", which was written by Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Maureen Tucker. Reed left behind some of the best hits the band has had in their lifetime. -Tiana from Ride the Tempo helping you rediscover old music If you like what you hear below, then go ahead and buy it. eMusic - [...]

I've been sneaking into my big sister's room to check out her record collection for some time now, and I have begun to notice that her musical tastes might be changing. Where's that coming from? I will explore that later - today, I found a record - an import, no less - that on first sight made my heart jump. But when I listened to it ... It's Squeeze , which came out in 1972 as an album by the Velvet Underground. Wow! I thought, a lost Velvet Underground album ... but no. The album is really [...]
In what may very well be the most curious and unexpected reunion, three original members of the Velvet Underground will gather for an extremely rare public appearance. On December 8th, former VU members Lou Reed, Doug Yule , and Maureen Tucker will appear at the New York Public Library's Celeste Bartos Forum, located at Fifth Ave. and 42nd street. Unfortunately, the trio will not be performing a live set (despite reuniting for scattered shows throughout the 1990s with fourth surviving member John Cale), but will instead discuss the band's legacy and music with rock journalist [...]
The closest we might ever get to see a reunion of The Velvet Underground will take place on December 8th at the New York Public Library. There's no performance planned (or at least one we know of) and a few key members will be missing (namely John Cale) but on that day, Lou Reed, Maureen Tucker, and Doug Yule will unite for an extremely rare joint public appearance to discuss their band's music and legacy with rock journalist David Fricke as part of the "LIVE from the NYPL" series. The event will take place in New [...]
The Warlocks have been panned for both self-similarity and for trying different sounds, for taking drugs and not taking drugs, for their chaos and careerism. At this point in their career, if they made a fantastic album, would anyone stop coming up with memes long enough to notice?

Unfortunately, my fellow music bloggers have not followed my selfless, high-minded lead, and have refused to suspend their blogging activities until the financial crisis is solved. My friends, these bloggers have betrayed the public trust. Their selfishness and hatred for all things good and decent has forced me to continue blogging. Just remember, if we plunge into an economic depression, it's their fault, not mine. Is there is a musician less pretentious than Mo Tucker? I can't think of any. Mo was the heart and soul of the Velvet Underground. Even when their music leaned hard [...]
Artiste : Maureen "Moe" Tucker Album : Life in exile after abdication Pays : Etats-Unis Genre : Alternatif/Rock Lorsqu'un jour, le rock fêtera son bicentenaire et fera son nécessaire (et barbant) devoir de mémoire, les galeries de nos souvenirs seront-elles celles des académiciens d'alors ? This week's favorite find is Teezar . Who are Teezar? Well, if you take Joe Stumble's word for it, they are the best hard rock band you never heard of, a pair of trailer-living nerds from Missouri whose album "Bakkstage Pass" not only invented the L.A. glam scene, but hip-hop as well. Or they could be a totally invented band formed with the good old punk ethos of "leave 'em laughing". I'm going with number two, but read the elaborate backstory and live the lie if you like. It's frankly more fun, and either way [...]

Maureen "Moe" Tucker , the Velvet Underground's drummer, was notable in that even people who don't pay a lot of attention to drummer styles can immediately pick her out. Her style - mallets, not sticks; no snares on the drums; very few cymbals; all to a Bo Diddley–influenced beat - was even more vital to the VU's sound than John Cale's viola, and it's no coincidence that the only VU album she wasn't on, 1970's Loaded , was also by far their worst. After the Velvets broke up, she moved to Texas and got a job at [...]
