Always got some time for a bit of Max Essa and he's just put up an unreleased EP from back in 2002 for free download. Its bubbly and deep... perfect for just zoning out to after a tough Monday back on the grind.

Jan Ken Po - Unlimited Man By Stef Siepel The Weekly Froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer's fancy. 'Colour Wheel' by Jan Ken Po (Max Essa) No he didn't! Max Essa just released an album as Jan Ken Po , putting the [...]

Pretty cool remix package for the latest Paper Records release... If you find The Bionics oddly familiar then wonder no more since this studio project consists of Paper honcho Ben Davis (Flash Atkins) with Crazy P's Danielle Moore and Tim Davies. Love Chains first appeared on Solid Silver album back in 2007 and for some reason its coming back again with a nice list of remixers... Mic Newman, Max Essa and Neil Diablo. Out on the 26th September. The Bionics - Love Chains (Remixes) by Paper Recordings

Up until a few years ago, there wasn't much that would come to mind when discussing modern Russian electronic music, unless I were to mention t.A.T.u. (which some may consider an insult). In early 2009, Muscovite synthpop trio (now duo) Tesla Boy changed that when it lit up the blog circuit and brought international attention to the Motherland's thriving scene. The rise of prominent domestic blogs such as Raketa 4000 and Russian Adults in recent years has given outsiders further insight into the country's underground, one which is surprisingly receptive to the balmy, breezy, and yes, "blissed-out" sounds of balearic [...]
Social Disco Club is another of my favorite artists right now, a dude out of Portugal who is constantly bringing Disco-Balearic happiness to my ears. When I came across a track including SDC, Mario Basanov , Miss Bee & Like Mirrors all in one I nearly shat myself. Just as expected, it's dope as hell. Check out the chill, disco remix of Mario & Miss Bee's original "Just Think About." So happy I can put our latest jam up!!! This is Max Essa, a japanese based super producer and this is his Needwant debut with one of the smoothest summeriest tunes around. On remix duties Kim Ann Foxman stepped in and gave it a deeper house work out that caught the attention of everyones ears when it was played on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space way way way up front of release. Well that time is actually drawing nearer as its out on Monday and I guarantee that it will go out of stock instantly on Juno [...]

The package includes a wicked Neville Watson remix where he turns it into a old school late night dub. All out on the pretty Japanese label Jansen Jardin Music. Motoyoshi 'Donkey' Shimazaki, Kimiko Kawabe, Max Essa からなるプロジェクト Minus Yogis のEP。Max Essa のレーベル Jansen Jardin よりリリース。Juju & Jordash リミックス収録

The 'Midnight & Dub Direction EP' takes some of the finer moments from Max Essa's White Shoes Blue Dreams and gives them a more dancefloor friendly, dubby makeover. We are absolutely loving the added plod from the bass on the Special Dub Mix and the slow mo Visti & Meyland remix really revs our engine! The EP is out on Jan 31st Here's a couple of snippets to stream: [...]

Man this is always so tricky boiling 12 months down to 10 tracks. It's taken longer than I anticipated to put this all together so just pretend it was posted a week ago back when it was that distant year we've all forgotten about now, 2010. Massive THANKS to everyone who still reads this lil' blog of mine and hope you all had a super duper silly season. Will get stuck into 2011 very soon but for now here are the things that really tickled me in the last 12 months. Hope you enjoy! ------------------------------ ------------------- [...]

9dw (Nine Days Wonder) formed during 1997 in Tokyo (Japan). 9dw possesses a very strong aura with their unique sound, a result from great musicianship, the use of vintage instruments and the like. The output must be heard, with a wide range and mixture of elements: fusion, funk, abstract, jazz, breakbeat, belearic, and I guess the list goes on. Really refreshing sounds and such great flavours. They have one self-titled album that was brought out during 2008 in Japan on the Catune label (later released in the US on Wax Poets). [...]

Soooo yeah come along to GoodGod tomorrow night for this blog party thang we're doing with Danimals, Ted & Francis and Matt from Van She. It'll be fuun! Or of Saturday's more your thing, also come to GoodGod for Picnic with Hey Convict! who I've only just recently realised are quite spectacular. I'm way late to the game here but their Time To Noodle mix from 2006 is truly something to behold. After checking out a few of their mixes I'm getting a bit of a Lovefingers meets The Avalanches kinda vibe. Plenty of psychedelic goodies. [...]

Tonight we drive on the highway to saturn together with D-Pulse . Nang Records re-release their 2008 disco hit 'Highway To Saturn'. So 'Highway To Saturn" now becomes 'On The Highway To Saturn' (to avoid confusion with the original version). The new remix package includes D-Pulse's 'Australian Shore Reversion' mix and several re-rubs from Jan Ken Po (aka Max Essa), Proper Heat and Sare Havlicek. Check out Sare Havlicek's hi-energy dub version of 'On A Highway To Saturn'. Simply amazing! Stream:> D-Pulse: 'On A Highway To Saturn [Sare Havlicek dub [...]
