Since earning the acclaim of music bloggers everywhere (see: Pitchfork ) in 2002 for Mastered by Guy at the Exchange , Britain's Max Tundra has done everything from creating some rather high-profile remixes to hosting a radio show on Resonance FM . Some six years later, the musician born Ben Jacobs is finally ready to unveil its follow up, his third full-length effort, Parallax Error Beheads You , on November 18th via Domino Records. Described by Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire, The Last Shadow Puppets) as an [...]

Ben Jacobs , the man responsible for two fo the best gigs I've seen in my lifetime is back with a new album, 6 years after the brilliant Mastered By Guy at the Exchange . I'm pretty sure Leagues O' Toole is responsible for me getting into that album as he raved about it so much back then. His new album Parallel Error Beheads You is the same madness you'd expect. Vital madness. Like a man who lives in a Teletubby land and plays with synths made of jelly all day and sings about jumpers, Google images, [...]

New song of Max Tundra (Ben Jacobs to his friends) soon to be released album Parallax Error Beheads You, the album is set for a release date of 13 October his first album since "Mastered By Guy At The Exchange" 6 years ago and if the song below is any indentation it all has been worth the wait. Im really really loving this track tune and lyrical amazing thought i was the only person you bought jumpers for 20p Which Song - Max Tundra
Some confess they're left frigid or baffled by Max Tundra 's obsessive and virtuosic laptronica, and, for those who have heard it, by his recent six-year quest to cram hundreds of beats and blips and orphaned samples into forthcoming LP Parallax Error Beheads You . Then you've got us others, who are so overstimulated by every sound that we want to rush the stage and jump on his shoulders and scream "YES YES YES" like Molly Bloom in earbuds. While the fantastically crowded textures of Ben [...]

You would be hard-pressed to find a successful contemporary musician who disregards classical music entirely, as numerous components remain a steady influence on the various forms of music we listen to today. I doubt anyone would dismiss it as irrelevant, but there is certainly a difference between appreciating something and enjoying it. Even if one holds a strong interest in music, the chance of them undertaking classical studies has become minimal as of late, especially with the accessible usage of technology allowing for various stylistic forms of music to be at the fingertips of anyone who desires to explore different [...]
Max Tundra - Number Our Days Max Tunda's futurism has one foot in the 90s and one on Venice Beach and man is it glitzy, like a stroll down Amiga California Games waterside with those little headphones over yr head and yellow Walkman and sunglasses. It's all hand gliding and open air; blue seas and green hils and sneakers and with that special light production and the eruption of ideas that come from every direction on his new record 'Parallax Error Beheads You' I kind of feel like this is the best thing I've ever heard, [...]
>> In some ways, this song was pretty much the end of music. The video above is fabled second-wave emo foursome Sunny Day Real Estate captured live on MTV's "120 Minutes" in 1994. The clip was alluded to by MTV's Subterranean Blog , which recently has been going a long way toward making us not loathe the network. We'll, we expect we'll continue to loathe the network, but at least the online piece has been wiping away some of the tarnish. It appears that the embed code they offer is not a true embed, so [...]
the damp cloy of too much whateveritiwas spreads so-un-sun-like across the murky puddle of morning. it seems i've been misled. i woke in your dress with a gun to my head. the grim realisation that i have no black or gay friends. i'm struggling for names, seeing shapes when you talk. i don't need a [...]

Max Tundra - A truce (mp3) Max has also just finished his new album, out on Domino before the end of the year. Max Tundra's 2002 (!) record 'Mastered By The Guy At The Exchange' was a brilliant melting pot of glitchy electronica, sunkissed melodies and tricky time signatures. It somehow managed to retain a wonderful pop sensibility that hasn't been matched on any electronica album I've heard this decade. It's taken the bloke a patient 6 years to release a follow up but it's due to drop later this year on Domino. With some artists you just *know* it's gonna be totally brilliant. One of the best things about running this joint is receiving an e-mail from one of our sweet pals with an amazing tune, going, I think you might like it, gosh knows we do! Or a nice CD in the post...Or just stumbling upon a band on the myspace and pressing play and being blown away by the sheer awesomeness coming out of the rose-tinted blue of hope with which we roam the damp basement of the edifice of modern music looking for surprises, and always finding them. Music is shit these days? Like Patrick Swayze said, maybe [...]
After a new electronic sound? This might well come close, Gouseion 's excellent album Puisne ensconces elements of IDM, euro-crunk, electronic pop and more, all blended together into perfectly crafted songs. It's as melodic as it is disorienting, staright edged as it is raw, hard to explain in words without sounding silly really, but trust me it's a really good sound that Gouseion is chucking out here. Get a copy from Boomkat Gouseion - Pirony [...]

I come in contact with a lot of music that is so "out there" that it doesn't quite fit the mold of the usual stuff that I would normally take the time to discuss here. I literally have stacks upon stacks of cds that I feel fall into this category of "just a little weird/abstract/different." I wasn't sure if I would ever place much of this material here, just because I didn't know how to fit it in. Solution: Weird Music Wednesday. Every Wednesday, or perhaps every other Wednesday, I'll put the [...]

(Photo by Mil ) It's gardening time of year again. Being just a little less than green-fingered, my propagation of nature tends to weigh heavily on the side of enthusiasm, but is occasionally found lacking in terms of persistence and skill. That said, we have (with little to compare it to) an excellent crop of tasty tomatoes (which need using actually, mental note), a pepper well on its way, even chillies and olives. A squirrel (now issued with a fatwa) made off with the head of one of our sunflowers, but it looks as though one is [...]
"j'ai vu la soeur de scarlett johanson dans le Thalys" Chaque fois je me dis que je vais arrêter ce genre de post mais chaque fois la vie est plus forte, c'est la faute des trains qui deviennent machines à rencontres. Un coup de foudre, je l'ai senti passer comme un verre de t4000/vodka noire de trop. Seize heures, TER Paris - Orléans - Tours, je n'arrivais pas bien à me concentrer sur les
Ok, so, yeah, we might have missed some of our favorite people and favorite bands at the Pitchfork Festival over the weekend, but goodness, some of those sweaty crowd shots made me quite grateful not to be there! (Heck, we didn't even bother to hit any of the shows in town this weekend either, it really was to bloody hot to do anything productive...) Anyway, there's tons of great Pitchfork recaps and photo grouings floating around -- the coverage at Gaper's Block (from our pal Matt) is quite nice, and Chicagoist's Flickr sets ( one , [...]
