Most people rush into these top album lists mid-December, but I've decided to chill out and really think hard about my top 10 favourite albums from the year that once was. Made my triumphant albeit bittersweet return to Sydney yesterday, had a quick fly around Beatport and collected a few goodies both new and old. From now on expect things to be getting back on track! Or I hope that's what happens, since I don't have an excuse to be posting sub-par stuff anymore. Seems there's plenty of good stuff I've missed, so here we go... We've been enjoying Nashville's Jensen Sportag for a while now , and it seems another big indie name has jumped on their bandwagon. Originally Ariel Pink was the indie powerhouse touting the band's funk-sexy 80s grooves, but now he has been joined by Max Tundra . Great little DJ focused remix package this. The Mickey Moonlight remix adds a nice little break beat and churns it up with a bit of a new wave feel.Not my favourite but in the top three. The Disco Bloodbath Effect version is a bit slower, far more moodier, one could even say a bit on the grumpy side. It's danceable but really just lacked a little sparkle to make it worthy of top spot. That leave my favourite. It's the Max Tundra mix, purely because it's the most original of the three.
