A trip down short term memory lane here as I repost some tracks from way back when (a month or two?) in case they were missed. On display we have an addictive mash-up of Madonna's 'Hung Up' and The Presets' 'Down Down Down' that was released on a limited Modular 3"CD free with t-shirts; another cool mash by The Avalanches of Digitalism and Wham!; a sensational Blamma! Blamma! remix of Maximo Park featuring some violent vocal editing; sterling reworking of a Daft Punk classic by Casino Inc. ; and the filthy Justice remix of their [...]
Arctic Monkeys "Fluorescent Adolescent" Maximo Park "Our Velocity"
It's been almost two months since my last Video Day post, so I have a few choice clips to share with you guys. As always, the mp3's can be found at the bottom of the post. The first video is Feist rocking a bus for the Jimmy Kimmel show. She's performing "I Feel It All", an amazing song from her amazing album The Reminder . This woman can seemingly do no wrong. This one's the Franz Ferdinand video for [...]

I think it was sometime last year when I said that Maximo Park is "yet another British group that plays that popular-with-the-kids melodic post-punk but this band is one of the best of the lot," and I still stick to my guns on that verdict. Better than Franz, Futureheads, or Kaiser Chiefs. Maximo Park's latest album Our Earthly Pleasures is a little more cleanly produced than the band's first record, but is still full of great new-wave meets post-punk tunes. The angular guitars and choppy synths are still intact. Singer Paul [...]

I'm not a huge fan of Maximo Park . Their first album kinda passed me by in a blur of disinterest. But never one to hold a grudge, I'll admit 'Our Velocity' was an awesome, attention grabbing, adrenaline soaked single. Talk about announcing your return in style. And if ever there was a list of song you wouldn't think would translate to an acoustic stylee, well frankly, that would be staking it's claim firmly in the top 10. But that pretty much shows what i know because here it is. 'Our Velocity' [...]
behold... banksy . i imagined him having more teeth. Maximo Park "Graffiti" (Live)
When I notice Graboid posts back to back, it just makes me sad. The fact that I can't squeeze anything in between, just shows either how lazy or distracted i've become as of late. It's obvious that I need help with the blog, and i've extended an invitation for anyone to write ever since it started. I think a few emailed me but I don't know now because I deleted everything a couple of weeks ago. So if you were interested, email me again and we'll talk. Lots of great albums this week, with [...]

MP3: MAXIMO PARK "Girls Who Play Guitar" ( Insound ) This new track off Maximo Park's sophomore full-length Our Earthly Pleasures is freshly pulled from the new millenium Brit pop cookie cutter. With a few sprinkles of post-punk/new-wave for a bit of an extra kick. See also: maximopark.com tags: music [...]

Mursi Tribeswoman with iPod and AK-47 (via Wired ): You won't find a person in her tribe more excited that Marvin Gaye's "Mursi Mursi Me (The Ecology)" now is available DRM-free. OK sorry. Let's hear your much better caption.

I've been playing Maximo Park's "Our Velocity" from new album Our Earthly Pleasures on repeat since yesterday. Can't get enough of those tight ...wait for it.. angular rhythms, the arpegiatted synth line and Paul's Smith's catchy as fuck chorus. I'm always amused when a song I hear once completely underwhelms me and then I can't stop playing it. As a bonus, here's a electro remix of the tune from Blamma! Blamma! , which takes Smith's exaggerated vocal style to it's logical sampled conclusion. Put simply, he sounds like a madman. The band are [...]

As a start of my catching-up, I'm gonna give you the latest discoveries from brilliant online-magazine Tonspion . Here's what they've found during the last weeks: Two Gallants - La Cruces Jail Neo-Country-Rock CocoRosie - Rainbowarriors Indie-Folk-Pop... The Cinematics - Break Indie-Pop; an older song, but still very good! [...]
There have been such a lot of highly anticipated albums in the last few months that I have been complete let-downs. I've been all childishly excited about at least half a dozen albums, mostly sophomore efforts, and they have proved to be almost without exception to be massive disappointments: Bloc Party - Dismal The [...]

I only think you are a fool, if you do not love. - anonymous quote Never let a fool kiss you, or a kiss fool you. - Joey Adams Who loves not women, wine and song remains a fool his whole life long. - Martin Luther mp3 Fool [...]
Video 'Our velocity':
Top 10 Best songs cause I say so..... Dudes, I feel I should share with you some of the most kickass tracks I've heard so far this year. Oh, by the way, these are mostly indie tracks cause I have been covering a lot of metal lately and I usually try to be fairly even minded. Enjoy, 10. Albert Hammond Jr – In Transit [...]
First thing's first... I need a job. Before I commit myself to further years being an uninspired salaryman, I thought it was probably worth sticking out a plea for employment here. I have many skills doing many things. But what i'd really like is to use my ears on a daily basis. And preferably at least some of my brain also. Please apply within. So then. Blamma! Blamma! WANK! Someone said to me that the postings and mp3s this past few days have been eclectic. I'm taking that as a compliment, for one thing I that I try to provide is a little something for everyone.....albeit jingly-jangly pop music from Glasgow singers and bands tends to be bit more predominant than most. And here's a handful of tunes to round off the short spell of everything being on vinyl. The
