Here's a confident prediction, in 5 years from now music will be free. Free as in you will be able to download it legally from official sources. Some people have cottoned on to this already and are fully focused on making a living from alternate sources. I'll let you work out what those other revenue streams are. May or May Not go one step further by posting their favourite recipes to their
Hey, it's time for some... Now, I remember reading about post hard comedycore unit Frauke a while ago ( here ), but it was not until recently that I happened upon their youtubery . All signs point to that fact that Frauke hates you (and they certainty hate me), so see if you like them. WATCH: Emoticonspiracy [...]
T hese records are not "officially" part of my year end list. Rather, it is my list of honorable mentions for 2007. But I did sorta put this in the same format as the rest so f$#k it. Honorable mentions or not, these are some damn good records. 60. Ted Leo - Living With The Living ( Touch & Go ) MP3 | La Costa Brava Shimmering and visceral jangle-punk that sounds like rays of sunshine [...]

Matthew Jordan - Collection (2001) Julian ventured out of her head tonight. She peeked out from inside via the corner of one retina and then the other. She was sensitive to dirtiness, especially the coat of it that she had imagined lining the dimly-lit alleys of reality. So she sprinted. From one controlled surrealism to another, landing in a packed club with a mildly clever, mildly bland name and similar decoration. Everything seemed to be roughly painted black to cover the residue of an [...]

Photo: fordearlife Boots - May or May Not May or May Not, one of Chicago's best new pop bands (in a city thick with them), fires up the furnace, rolls up the rugs, buffs the banister to a high sheen, clears the cobwebs from the attic and throws itself a big ol' shack-shakin' house party. (And gets dirty all over again.) Guests include the rev and soar [...]

May Or May Not will absolutely begin a monthlong September residency at Chicago's Scuba's tavern, beginning tonight, Sept. 3rd, at 9 p.m. and will continue to play at the club every Monday until the 24th. That last date will also serve as the band's release party for its newest full-length album, the title of which is A Kaleidoscope Of Egos . The album is being released by local Chicago label Two Thumbs Down Records formally the next day, on the 25th. So far, the band hasn't announced any Minneapolis dates, [...]

One of my favorite new (to me at least) bands is Chicago's very own May Or May Not . They play infectious indie pop that is just makes me wanna get up and dance. The formula isn't complicated but the band executes perfectly. Their latest release the Bike EP is full of breezy and catchy guitar pop accented by buoyant backing vocals (woo hoo), sparkling keys, and interjections from a horn section. This music makes me wish it was 80 degrees and sunny right now. Pick up a copy of the EP now from CD Baby [...]
THIS WEEK'S FINDS week of Nov. 5-11 "Fifteen On Ice" - Tall Hands Singer Justin Raisen has sure enough got Lou Reed's blasé NYC dude delivery down pat, but with a twist: while Reed tended to sing as if the apocalypse were just around the corner (not that this fazed him, mind you), Raisen sounds as if he actually knows how to smile. Not that he is smiling, but that he knows how, he and the other five members of Tall Hands. You can hear it in the upbeat piano [...]
Little girl, Andrea Zuill No One #2 - Anamude I never jumped rope to songs like this. Jump rope rhymes were about boys and babies and k-i-s-s-i-n-g. Not this catalogue of calamity--earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes--and hurt: Keeping pain in delay trying to stay wide awake throwing rocks at the sun keeping on running from here to no one. And the playground was never this lonely, or the snap
