Those of us who live in the New York area are lucky for many reasons, musical and non, and one is our proximity to the great Jenny Scheinman , who over the past decade and a half has become one of the most exciting nonpareils in both jazz and roots, seemingly just as comfortable in a storm of heady improv as she is playing country songs with some of that genre's best. Violin's her instrument, and she can also sing, but the easy description of Scheinman – and all of the styles of music she inhabits so impressively - [...]
Thinking I had some homework to do before 5PM today I wandered into the library only to figure out it's not due until sunday. But since I'm here I've decided to shell out a couple of jams I've gathered this week as well as the highly anticipated mixtape from Mad Decent featuring Diplo, FKi, Heroes x [...]
While I haven't listened to the tape yet, FKi's new joint warrants sharing on good faith because I expect nothing but goodness, an abundance of references to red cups, blunts [...]

Bloodstock Open Air has added Ancient Egypt-obsessed death metallers, Nile , and historically-extremely-importa nt-although-not-really-as-good -as-they-used-to-be black metallers, Mayhem , to its 2012 line-up. And...errr...that's about it. Both bands are making their Bloodstock debuts, and both bands are going to be UK festival exclusives for Bloodstock this year, but then again we doubt there were many other festivals fighting to be first ones to knock either band's booking agent's doors. Don't get us wrong - both bands will no doubt put on a kickass show on the Main Stage at Bloodstock [...]

We asked Metal Injection Photographer Aline Miladinovich to reflect on her Top 5 Shows in 2011. You can check out some of her favorites, as well as all her other photos in our gallery section. Whittling all the epic shows I was fortunate enough to see in 2011 into only five choices, then prioritizing them ...

Listen here to all the EPs The last part of the H.A.T.E saga is coming to en end. Swedish rockers Akribi is releasing the EP "E - Part Four of H.A.T.E" December 1st and a year of music has gone by. I've had such a great time hearing my songs in new suits. First with all the L.O.V.E EPs which were each produced by one of the guys in my band and ranged from acoustic to pop to electronica to americana. And then the biggest difference of all with the awesome four metal bands Ball [...]
It's almost the weekend, so it's time to get tr00ly, tr00ly evil with this shit - like, black metal tr00ly evil. And who's more tr00 - or evil - than Mayhem? The band is currently in the midst of a North American headlining run with Keep of Kalessin, Hate, and Abigail Williams (tour dates here). [...]
Frantik - Tide of Turmoil (Prod. by Rada Tha RebeliouZ) The Homie Frantik hit me up the other day about his future endeavors... Now it's time for him to unload what has been loaded in the mental... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Mayhem headlined the Metal Suckfest Pre-Game at the Gramercy Theater on November 3, the second date of a lengthy string of tour dates in North America with Hate, Keep of Kalessin, Abigail Williams, and Woe. If you find that lineup a bit weird, so did I. A Mayhem concert today is a difficult thing to wrap your head around. The events of the early Norwegian black metal scene when Mayhem was at its prime are now a distant memory, made into a lurid spectacle by the media at the time and more recently the subject of fascination by [...]

photos by Greg Cristman , words by BBG Mayhem @ Gramercy Theater Believe it or not, Mayhem actually did play (and didn't cancel) the "pre-game" for the Metal Suckfest at Gramercy Theater on 11/3 . They hit the NYC venue with tourmates Woe , Keep of Kalessin , Abigail Williams , & Hate as part of their string of dates together . No word on if Necrobutcher's [...]
Remember a couple of months back when we reported that Necrobutcher, aka Jørn Stubberud, from the band Mayhem, was to be exorcised on Norwegian state television? And by infamous Televangelist preacher and "demon hunter", Bob Larson, no less? Well, not only has it gone and happened, and you can watch it happening right after the jump. [...]
Everyone remembers Bob Larson, right? He's the evangelical radio personality that Glenn Benton used to prank phone call? Well, that dude somehow got Mayhem bassist Necrobutcher (né Jørn Stubberud) to agree to be the victim beneficiary of an exorcism on Norwegian television, and that footage is now available for your viewing pleasure. Check it out below; it [...]
We got giddy with excitement when we learned that Mayhem's insane bassist Necrobutcher was going to be excorsized on live national TV. Now that I've actually seen the clip (above, duh!), I'm a bit disappointed. Ultimately it's just a showdown between a crazy Christian and a crazy non-Christian to out-crazy each other. Somehow the religious ...

It doesn't get much heavier. On the track, FKi flips a cover that seems to have an unlimited shelf-life (Yael Naim's run at "Toxic") into a syrupy Robotussin jam. Look out for Diplo, Mayhem & Heroes & Villains' upcoming Transformers in the Hood mixtape. FKi - Toxic (Feat. Yael Naim) (Prod. FKi & Mayhem) FKi ( Twitter ) ( Bandcamp ) Rating 8.5
Though this track utilizes Britney Spears ' "Toxic" for lyrics on the hook, the production from FKi & Mayhem really turn this into something completely different than the original. It's part downtempo, almost dubstep but regardless, pretty dope. Download the track over here . Read More about Hip Hop & Street Art at Flawless Hustle.
