Mailbomber + Adults performing at the Maze on may 11, 2012.
While the electronic music industry is littered with former computer programmers (Deadmau5, MartyParty to name a few), Dance.Here.Now is presenting a unique situation tomorrow night at Cielo in NYC. As a well-rounded, talented musician, Tyler Sherritt casts a new light on Musical fusion in the ever expanding EDM world. Being featured on tracks for both Blackhole and [...]

Start the jazz & soulful cars running Honey, as we're about to go on a major long ride ... Driving past the Johnny Pate Boulevard and the Prince-famed avenue, William DeVon's Washington DC superbness delectably rewards a 1980 'Joy And Pain' track by San Francisco's Maze gracefully. Making a 2012 re-edit that's accessible to a lot of pro-house jocks worldwide will please the thousands, and will sophisticatedly cause the neat n' tidy to dust off their Tuxedos' before whipping them off again for a hell-crazed dance floor. [...]

The Cubed Maze³ by designer Phil Pauley sounds like sadistic fun! He's looking for funding for the glass maze project and says : Covering nine floors, multiple stairs, glass ramps and transparent walled partitions, this mega maze will challenge and amuse all who attempt her summit. Each of the nine levels represents the complexity of an equivalent single level maze. Stairs and ramp ways may offer assurance but sometimes you will have to go back down a floor or two to reach the higher levels [...] The Cubed Maze³ is so called because its design [...]
Manchester quartet Mazes should have been a commendable entry on here last year. I spent and continue to spend an awful lot of time listening to the Manchester quartet's debut, A Thousand Heys. Mazes share an obvious bloodline with Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, The Strokes and scores of '90s grunge and US alternative bands. There is an upbeat [...]

I don't mean to be a prude when I do this, but we all had favourite albums last year, you can't deny that, and I had too many. In fact, so many that I loved that it was difficult to decide between them all, and I had been reading endless 'trendy choice' end-of-year lists before the year had even gone out. So I thought I might deliver some kind of personal justice by posting one that people can sneer at all they want, but might actually pick out something they overlooked and think "Hey, I might actually try that now, [...]

Graphic by Eno Henze [ Purple Maze ] Fresh off the heels of The Please's debut 123, Yør's Rave is the second offering from the new Dutch label Purple Maze. Yør continues the label's streak of new and unknown producers - he's apparently German, but that's about all that can be gleaned from the Internet at the moment. Like [...]
1. EMA - Past Life Martyred Saints // Reviewed 4th July by Moker "Past Life Martyed Saints is an organic beast, seemingly fluid, changing with each listen. Anderson has gone headfirst into these songs and the results are so honest, so desperate, so vulnerable that by the time the superbly somber and well placed ' Red Star ' unfolds as the closing track, you'll feel dazed; plunged into Anderson's crazy world and gently escorted out the other side once [...]

So here we go, the top 20 albums of 2011 from Sound of The Overground... Accompanying each entry is a track to listen to a video to watch and a brief, Twitter-friendly pocket review... 20: Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Belong Pocket Review: A big debut to follow up but the fuzzed out shimmering melodies of Pains of Being Pure At [...]

Some bands just don't do conformity, in the majority of cases this can prove to be a royal pain in the arse. The exception to the rule in my case is noisy as fuck three piece PAWS . As you've seen from my recent posts, I have been asking bands to choose their album of the year. So what do PAWS do, that's right they come back with their favourite 7" of the year. So what's a boy to do, other than just go with it, fuck it, it's PAWS and I love this band. Anyway here's [...]

Two years ago, I ran a series of guest posts from people involved in Irish music featuring their top 5 Irish acts at that moment. This time around, I thought I'd shift the focus to international and ask a similar question -

Mazes released one of the more joyous albums of 2011 in the form of A Thousand Heys back in April on FatCat, a quite 'mazing debut album from the noise-tastic lo-fi four piece. The main protagonist, Jack Cooper, in late July started a solo project titled 'Art Is Cheap' in which Cooper would write a song in exchange for an idea, guitar part, a lyric or just a song title; oh and £10 (though people could - and did - pay more. Radiohead style). What entailed was a highly fascinating insight into the process [...]

photos by Dana (distortion) Yavin DOWNLOAD: Sebadoh - Skull (MP3) DOWNLOAD: Sebadoh - Rebound (MP3) Sebadoh @ Music Hall of Williamsburg Barlow's songs like "Freed Pig," "Soul and Fire," and "Magnet's Coil," made their expected appearances, but it was the Lowenstein songs that were the true highlights of the night. Playing with such speed and energy that belied his age, the songs seemed as fresh as they must have [...]
