I'm hooked. All it took was one little track, and now I can't get enough of The Chainsmokers . After popping onto the map this Spring with a series of hot remixes , the New York-based duo of Drew Taggart (aka Andrew Winter) and Alex Pall are back with another trifecta of tunes. I'll go ahead and spoil the suspense-they bring it. The first song on the list is The Chainsmokers remix of one of the hottest tracks currently out there, Say Lou Lou's Julian (check out more Julian remixes [...]

There are some tracks that build up within you, take you to different spaces of your mind, and resonate within you after they finish until you're half way through the next song. Then there are some tracks that creep up on you, explode inside, and embed their shrapnel beneath your skin and bones. These songs keep you grounded while simultaneously taking you higher — exposing the sublimity of your brain and all its connections. They illuminate the path before you and show you what you could be. They're not necessarily inspiring songs, they hit a spot in your drive that's deeper than that. I'm [...]

Hello, we are Ed Zealous, we make up four best friends who met at school back in the day. Our love / hate relationship is always interesting to be around... you can usually find us hanging around in dark alleys finishing each others sentences or sometimes texting each other at the same time due to our telepathic skills. We have just finished our debut album with producer Eliot James ( TDCC, Bloc Party, Noah & The Whale ) and the first single is Medicines out on Fierce Panda / Fandango on Monday April 8th. In the midst of planning for [...]

The top mp3s have gone through many incarnations since the beginning of Consequence of Sound in 2007. What used to be an exhaustive roundup of all the singles, remixes, covers, and undiscovered gems emailed to us any given week evolved into a compilation whittled down to our 10 favorite new songs. For 2013, we’re again changing up the format with the hope of giving our selections some added weight. We’re still posting about our 10 favorite songs, but they’ll be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who takes home #1 this week? You’ll have to click ‘Next’ to find [...]

Medicine [...]

What albums are you looking forward to this year? I’m also expecting good tunes from future releases by Camera Obscura, Kylesa, Baths, !!!, Saturday Looks Good To Me, Mount Kimbie, The Polyphonic Spree…

The legacy of Medicine has been referenced increasingly in recent years — main man Brad Laner's continued explorations is experimental psychedelia is one reason, but another is the current wave of nu-gazers who have made the one-forgotten Los Angeles band influential. Probably best known outside cult circles for crashing the Cure/STP/Rage/NIN party on the soundtrack for the 1990s film "The Crow," Medicine were the rare U.S. band on Creation Records and one of Rick Rubin's noblest experiments on his American Records. (Any purported fan of shoegaze music who does not own a copy of 19922s "Shot [...]

To the Happy Few out in August. The post Medicine reunite, announce new album appeared first on Treble: Music news, reviews, interviews and more .

Here's one more '90s outfit to cross off the list: Los Angeles shoegaze veterans Medicine have reunited their original lineup and will release their first new album together in 18 years. The album's titled To the Happy Few , it'll surface on August 6th, and it's being issued via Captured Tracks, who previously reissued their past works. Below you can stream its first block of noise, "Long as the Sun", if you're looking to go deaf. It should be noted that Medicine's last effort, 20032s The Mechanical [...]
Here’s a brand new track from the reunited Medicine entitled “Long As The Sun”. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to hear this. My expectations have been clobbered, regurgitated, and set free. The forthcoming album, To The Happy Few , is due August 6 through Captured Tracks. Download this jam through the Soundcloud player.

Back in the '90s, the Los Angeles band Medicine perfected a shimmering and melodic take on shoegaze, released three albums, and performed at the crime-boss bad guy's nightclub in The Crow . They broke up in 1995, and they haven't all gotten back together since. (In 2003, frontman Brad Laner did get together with Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon, not a member of Medicine previously, to release a pretty-good album under the band's name, but that one may or may not count.) All the band's original members are once again back together, and they've got a new album called [...]

I saw this list the other day and felt compelled to make a more comprehensive, accurate, and essential rundown of albums that have truly stood out in a musical and historical sense. Albums that are influential, groundbreaking and still memorable. And let's be clear that bands like Galaxie 500, Mercury Rev, Verve, Mazzy Star, etc., these are all great bands that have produced some astounding work, but they are definitely not shoegaze. It's obviously way too early to rank the new MBV album so I'm not even gonna go there. [...]

It's time for some of that Sound Remedy Remix action. This particular gem can be found under the remix category of Badass. The original track is called Medicine , by the artist Daughter . Daughter is an English indie folk band originating from London in 2010. Originally the solo work of Elena Tonra, they are now a trio with guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella having joined. They released three separate EP's between 2010 and 2011, and this course of action led to the band being signed by 4AD records. [...]
If you have already read the title and seen Sound Remedy on the remix, I don't know why you haven't straight up downloaded this! Has Sound Remedy's productions ever let us down? No. And I fully believe he never will. This is a beautiful remix from the man himself, using the hauntingly dainty vocals of Daughter [...]
