Following his departure from The Clash, Mick Jones formed a new group that would cater to a 80s New York Hip Hop sound. A full length album was released in 1985 titled This Is Big Audio Dynamite . The third single released from the album was the song "Medicine Show". The song which clocks in at just over six minutes is a song that features a lot of samples, all of which originate from movies. Within the song you can hear samples from primarily Spaghetti Westerns, A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Duck [...]
Anthony Gonzalez has a trend of putting a few years between his band's albums. Judging the distance between 20052s Before the Dawn Heals Us and 20092s Saturdays = Youth , we're about due for more gauzy, dream pop tunes from Gonzalez's M83 . After a move from his native Antibes to Los Angeles, a relocation that made him reel with adolescent freedom, Gonzalez has announced that he is preparing a double LP for this October. "It's mainly about dreams, how every one is different, how you dream differently when you're a kid, a teenager, [...]

Tweet The moment that spring gets under way, sunny music starts to roll in. Today it's "The Breakfast EP", four tracks recorded in a Suffolk beachhut-cum-studio by Matthew P. The upbeat guitar work and quirky vocals on title track "The Breakfast Song" set [...]

Kil Ripkin - S.H.E. prod. DJ Tommy Tom Kil Ripkin - I Remember Now prod. Raticus feat. Deo Soul About: KIL RIPKIN is poised to adjust the frequencies with yet another masterfully crafted musical gift with his "Medicine for Mommy". Having re-emerged from a brief musical hiatus with the release of his well received soundtrack for the paradigm shift "The Quickening Vol.1" (November 2010); "The Godian" has been fine tuning more lyrical healing for [...]
Atul Gawande delivered this year's commencement address at Harvard Medical School, the whole thing is worth reading if you have at all an interest in the way things change, the way things work or health care in general. Gawande uses the analogy that doctors of past generations were cowboys and what patients need now to navigate the byzantine complexity of health care information and services is actually more like a NASCAR pit crew - a team of health care professionals/specialists all working in harmony for a common, greater good. Recently, you might [...]

Some sad news from Philly.com : " Mikey Wild , the old-school Philly punk-musician-turned marker artist, is in hospice care at Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse, says his brother Ben DeLuca . Wild, born Michael DeLuca , has had lung cancer for nearly three years. He recently completed a short film with producer/director Issac Williams called 'Paying the Price,' and played some shows last year while in remission.'Being mentally challenged, Mikey found his niche [...]

oh happy fucking monday! not sure where i got my hands on this little nugget, but its a promo that warner brothers and reprise released back in 92 or 93, i believe. it collects what were a bunch of tracks that werent commercially available at the time, but i am sure now are. so posting this one is like playing online casino games , its a crap shoot. anyway, this is what the folks that put it together had to say, at the time, about this "collectors" promo. "When you see it a few years from now, [...]
Watch the three folk revivalists have a hoedown on 'This Train's Bound for Glory'.
Mumford & Sons have recently been on tour with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show n what they call the Railroad Revival Tour. According to our friends over at Twenty Four Bit the bands have been rounding up the end of the show (see what I did there, rounded up! ha) with one hell of a good sing along, country style. The bands come together for a rousing rendition of Woody Guthrie's "This Train Is Bound for Glory". VH1 managed to film a performance of the sin-song in which the [...]
Video: Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe, Old Crow Medicine Show Cover Woody Guthrie Along stops of their recent Railroad Revival Tour, Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show have been teaming up for an ecstatic hoedown of a closing number: Woody Guthrie's "This Train Is Bound for Glory." In the clip above, VH1 caught up with the folk-rock super-troupe next to some Austin, Texas train tracks for a nearly 7-minute, raucous rendition, in which Jade Castrinos (who kills it, as usual, at 3:45), Marcus Mumford, Alex Ebert [...]

Arrange — Medicine Man Malcom Lacey's been churning out gorgeously bruised electro-ballads as Arrange for a bit under a year now, and his work has finally culminated in Plantation , his debut proper and what is nothing short of a knockout. At a time when the annual stock of "summer" albums is primed to flood any and every blog with swaths of reverb and beachside anthems, Lacey's made a record of bare, pared-down melancholia, one that aches [...]

ARTIST: Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine - [EP] DATE: 05-14-11 REVIEW BY: Bill Adams When the Guantanamo School of Medicine (GitSOM) released The Audacity Of Hype in 2009, singer Jello Biafra accomplished what many assumed to be impossible: he managed to get the whole world (all of it – not just punk rockers) to begin looking at him as a musician again – not just as [view more]
Brad Laner probably has his name thrown around with Medicine far too often. While the old shoegase troupe had a decent following, Brad's been busy working on other project ever since. He's readying a new 123 where he's accompanied by the Norwegian group Joensuu 1685 , and the first listen we have is remarkable. There's a slight fuzz on the vocals, knifing guitar harmonies, and an element of darkness that he's added to the cover of this classic Chicago track. For those of us with a nostalgic pop leaning, this [...]

THE GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE . Una singo la imperdibile data a Milano che sarà ospitata al Leoncavallo , storico centro sociale meneghino, cornice più [...]
Dude is THE REALZ . Five bones for this?? Hit the link, fool. p.s. Wondering what 'OC' stands for? Otis Calvin III (thanks Lar!). If that ain't a Q. Tarantino name, I don't know what is.
New Double A Single!Mercury Injection - (starring Leticia La Bruja)/Rock Music Pays Off (starring Wesley Willis)Out 9th May on Trashmouth RecordsMercury Injection/Rock Music Pays Off (Hip-House mix) is Medicine 8's first original release in a while having only been doing the occasional remix (Say Hello - Black Daniel - Buzz chart top 10) and more recently Bombs! by the Helmholtz Resonators (

My Bloody Valentine are my favourite band. Always will be. The only person to ever improve an MBV track is Andrew Weatherall with his classic remix of 'Soon' in 1990. The only track that feels like it was meant to be mixed into/out of that song, is 'Aruca'. Thrashed out in 1992 by US band Medicine on their debut album Shot Forth Self Living (also released on Creation in the UK; Def American in the US), 'Aruca' sears and burns your ears before launching into one of the best drum rolls in early shoegaze outside of 'Soon'. Listen. [...]
Theme Park are, apparently, 'a band made up of two brothers and 3 friends. Living in London, they've been writing songs since early 2011.' And that's about all the info that's out and about for now, although you'll be most familiar with one or two indie types in on their act in one capacity or another. And unless one of the brothers/friends is hiding in that hulky bush in the background, or one or other brother is yet to befriend one of the friends, quite how many men count themselves as members also remains a mystery. What's rather more [...]

mp3 - Spectre Folk - The Blackest Medicine Spectre Folk makes hazy pysch-folk on the label that brings you the best of that aesthetic around (Woods, White Fence, etc), Woodist . Blackest Medicine is off The Blackest Medicine, Vol. 2 12-inch which dropped on Mar. 29. 1000bonus, Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth plays drums on the EP, which you can get here .

It is Mardi Gras and Spring Break all rolled into one. Then, lit and smoked. The band members' tongues are firmly pressed into their cheeks as they look for a party. They make you cry, laugh, whoop and holler. Then, they'll roll you another one. Yes, the Doctor is in the house. First, there was George Cummings, Ray Sawyer and Billy Francis and it was good. Then came Dennis Locorriere and it was better. In 1969 a club owner asked for their name.and their decision-making probably went something like this: [...]
