Things Change mp3 Megan McCormick ..... pre-order here If there's one thing I like about female vocals in a song it's sass. There's a little bit of Bonnie Raitt sass to this young girl and it's not a bad thing at all. Watch out for Megan McCormick, she's about to take us by storm. It's a shame she's being marketed as a Country singer, I think she's much, much more. But then that might say more about my attitude toward Country music than her talent, now right? This song ends on that sudden, abrupt [...]

I checked my email late last night to see if I had missed anything, and lucky me for doing that. An email introducing Megan McCormick was sitting there, just waiting for me to open it. The email said that McCormick is a 23-year old "guitar-slinging reincarnation of Bonnie Raitt (with an equally awesome hair-do) who croons with a soulful, pop-infused spirit reminiscent of Dusty Springfield." After reading that, how could I NOT take a listen? "Things Change," the first sample I got of McCormick, confirms the Bonnie Raitt/Dusty Springfield comparison. Right from the opening notes, [...]
This week was one of those weeks that's puts things into context. Covering music is a bitch. Between Sasquatch! , Arcade Fire , Belle & Sebastian , The National , Smashing Pumpkins , and all the festival lineup announcements , I think I speak for everyone here at CoS when I say we're a bit tired. And that's even after a four-day work week. So, while we catch our breath, use this time to check out the following mix of music's best new singles, covers, and remixes, along with mp3s from some up-and-comers you [...]
Growing up in Alaska, surrounded by a family who filled the house with country, rock and jazz, Megan McCormick picked up a guitar and started singing at age nine -- and hasn't looked back since. The 23-year-old Nashville transplant's upcoming August 17 album Honest Words (Rykodisc) wears it's influences proudly -- folk, blues, rock, country -- but her distinctive voice, stinging guitar lines and slew of nicely detailed, genre-blurring songs give the album a uniquely personal and diverse stamp. "It was never about the glamour, but the grits, you know?" says McCormick of her musical path. [...]
