Click here to view the embedded video. So many happy tones wiggling their way brain-wise from this tune ' I Believe In Love, Kid '. Oh Ye Denver Birds made the song, Allyson Alapon t made the clip and it was pleasant and exciting for everyone involved (I assume). Electronically affected indie is all over the place and largely gross, foul and uninspiring - not so of Oh Ye Denver Birds. To quote, this shit is bananas - and bananas are good. Oh Ye Denver Birds are radcore, and have a [...]
Embarking on what will be a mammoth tour of the east coast of Australia, Brisbane's Oh Ye Denver Birds are set for their voyage come this Friday. Co-headlining the tour will be megastick fanfare out of Sydney, both exciting acts are keen to showcase their talents. Layering their pop hits with pleasant punches of synth, harmonies and innovative hooks, Oh Ye Denver Bird's will surely not want to be missed. After you've seen them live and want more Oh Ye Denver Birds are set to release their own debut album, Good Ivy which is [...]

megastick fanfare are just about the best indie-electronica you could hope for - touched up with dashings of mathrock stylings and glorious almost ambience. Absolutely rocking, . Support Sealion are Sydney regulars and were perhaps a little lacklustre, but still fun. The Parking Lot Experiment were banterful and wistfully fantastic, jumping instruments and styles with ease. Top night in all; FBi do a great job with these shows , catch one if you can . More pics after the break. [...]
Wiggly Youth Sydney band Megastick Fanfare has been playing away 'not so quietly' up and down the East Coast of Australia for a few years now and they're ready to grab your attention with their first official release. The five guys started playing together in high school where they played Of Montreal and Belle & Sebastian covers; but things really got going in early 2008 when they entered a university band competition in Sydney. For that, original material was required, and they've been writing and gigging ever since. Musically, [...]
Jonathon Boulet tradehook's won tickets to go see Tame Impala the other week at Waves in Wollongong. Little did we know that the standout performance of the night would come from Tame Impala's support band Jonathon Boulet . You probably have heard their song " A Community Service Announcement" getting played all over the triple j airwaves recently, so for something different I'm bringing you the song they opened with on the night " Ones Who Fly Two Who Die" . I'm over waiting [...]

I have chosen some tunes from a couple of home grown acts that have gained tight positions for the local supports playing this years parklife festival . Sydney sees some fine bands playing next to some of the biggest names in electronic music this year. It is good to see these big names making there way back to our shores over and over for the festival circuits so definitely get your crew down to the park early to check out the smaller stages to support what the young guns are producing (check out the timetable for parklife sydney [...]

Megastick Fanfare - 'Brain Tooth' ( mp3 ) The amazing Megastick Fanfare played our Blogger's Delight party last Friday. And now they've given us their very (very!) new song Brain Tooth . Wow. These guys are a must see for the Animal Collective generation. They play live often, catch them at: Oct 4 – Parklife, Sydney Oct 22 – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney w/ Aleks and the Ramps Oct 31 – Halloween Monster Mash at Annandale Hotel, Sydney w/ Seekae, Richard In Your Mind + more [...]
megastick fanfare - June Stranglets (Seekae Remix) Dunno how long the last eight months or so was in Seekae years but these guys are becoming the best thing in Australian electronica at pace. Late last year they bestowed upon us The Sound of Trees Falling on People which was a raging war between blissed out bleeps and spontaneous insanity & pretty dang good, but this new EP (" The Remix EP ") is kind of another thing. It's a pretty unusual move for anyone to step things up with an EP of [...]

Electronic whizkids Seekae have signed a deal with Rice Is Nice , and they now join an already impressive looking roster that includes SPOD , Talons and Shady Lane . And that's just the beginning.. In a huge leg up for the band, they have also been announced as one of the recipients of the Soundclash grant from the Australian Council's music board. That's around $7,000 to help them record their follow-up album and touring costs. That's not all- [...]

Bearhug (formerly Skeletal Explosive ...how long does it take to shake the whole "formerly" thing? Maybe they could think about incorporating it in to their name ala Prince) are doing some big things. Firstly they're playing all around Sydney at venues like the Beresford and the Burdekin (and all other places starting with B.....). Secondly, and even more excitingly they are lucky track number 7 on the recently released Spunk Singles album with other great artists like Megastick Fanfare, Leader Cheetah and Seekae . This [...]
megastick fanfare – Musing's Heartthrob Look, I don't know. I had to listen to this track like 15 times just to figure out where I stood on it, and I'm still not sure. I appreciate the fact that there's these young dudes from Sydney who are jamming out on hook-heavy lo-fi pop. It's fun, it's energetic, there are doot-doot-doos in the chorus, and it feels super mean to rag on anyone who's listened to this much Madness. Conversely, well, did we learn nothing from Vampire Weekend? I mean, really? I thought that [...]

megastick fanfare (lowercase all the way?) are a new, young, hip n (possibly) FRESH band straight outta a little town called Sydney (pronounced Sid Knee) who create a unique brand of up-beat harmonic love rock. They will melt your heart. Not in a torturous evil Bond villain way, but in a more honest, tough guy vs angelic choir kind of way. June Strangelets (demo) You can catch the band playing some of their very first shows over the next couple of weeks... Friday, [...]
