Yes, I'm back but no I haven't had any time to myself to post anything. Thanks to Dieter yet again for emailing me and saving my butt because between a sick kiddo, a TIRED mind, a friend in from out of state and a mountain of work to catch up on this just TOTALLY slipped my mind and I didn't have the WAZ song in my library anyway so I'd have had to search for it. Enjoy the tunes...it looks
So my house is getting new furniture any minute now and I don't know how long all of it will take, but I wanted to post asap to let all you Meiko fans out there know that Meiko's album is available on Amazon for $1.99 TODAY ONLY. Get on it while you can. A secondary, real post to follow this in a few hours. Hopefully I'll be writing it whilst sitting on a nice new big comfy couch...

While it's my opinion that the Hotel Cafe is of no real need for explanation, it is also safe to assume that is it possible that it may have slipped under the radar of a reader or two. The venue, which started as nothing more than a downtown coffee shop in Los Angeles, has spun into one of the most respected venues in the nation. It aimed to give artists a place where they could feel comfortable and free of the grinding competition created by the recording industry. It's reputation of a friends first environment helped create a [...]

The show includes singer-songwriters Rachael Yamagata, Meiko, Thao Nguyen and Kate Havnevik.
Gregory and the Hawk , aka Meredith Godreau , is swooping back into the music scene with more of her enchanting folk pop on her sophomore album Moenie and Kitchi . Although Gregory and the Hawk is not on the much buzzed about Hotel Café tour, without a doubt, these folk numbers sung with a voice that Ingrid Michaelson and Meiko would be jealous of, would have been the perfect addition for that tour. The emotive singer starts with her Americana "Oats We Sow", which tells a little heartbreak story [...]
There is something about Meiko that takes her out of that typical "singer/songwriter" genre and makes her a little more unique. With her first video for "Boys With Girlfriends", Meiko is caught running around LA and away from the girlfriend (aka a big giant pluhie bear dressed in pink). I think I would have run away from a giant plushie as well... Oh, and she's also on the Hotel Cafe tour if you want to catch her Here are the dates: October 2008 28 - Washington, DC - 9:30 Club 29 - [...]
Boys With Girlfriends - Music Video Meiko music video for her single Boys With Girlfriends. Meikos self-titled debut album is out now

The Hotel Cafe Tour House Of Blues October 16, 2008 Better Than: Staying at home, watching Grey’s and washing my hair, both of which I love and one of which is soundtracked by several of the Hotel Café girls' songs--but I’ll leave it up to you to guess which. Ingrid Michaelson, the way she is. (Courtney Clenney) Maybe you already know that the House of Blues is like an opera house with its exclusive balcony, vaulted [...]

Would you like some cheese to go with that Iron & Wine ? If so, Joshua Radin will be more than happy to oblige. Arriving two years after his Zach Braff -endorsed debut We Were Here , the all-too-aptly titled Simple Times doesn’t appear to have moved too far away from wherever Here was. Like that album, it’s another inoffensive, uninspiring set of indistinguishable love songs that range from subtle to slight to saccharine. Maybe I’m being too hard on him. After all, there are more than [...]

Sorry for the long hiatus. First it was a birthday bbq. Then it was a motorcycle accident. I know, excuses, excuses. Moving on. This first mix back is a little dated. Lots of LPs that came out earlier this year, but at least they are still within 2008. Going to start dancing, then move into rocking, and finally mellow out at the end. [...]

There's this great episode of "King of the Hill" where Hank gets a tad alarmed by the music his son is listening to when he comes into his son's room and sees Bobby wearing a mop on his head and pretending to play air guitar. Hank then escorts his son to the music store where he vetoes a stack of CDs Bobby intends on buying, and imparts this fantastic fatherly observation: "When I was your age, we had these things called songs. They were two-minute stories about falling in love or burning down Georgia. But I guess [...]

Wow it's been awhile since I've posted! My apologies...life has a way of making us do what we have to do that keeps us from doing what we want to do sometimes. But...that's neither here nor there because today I'm back and I've been listening to TONS of great music since I've been gone and I'll be trying to share it all as quickly as I possibly can. I'll start with my boy Joshua Radin since
On Friday night I got to see Meiko perform at The Canal Room. The Canal Room is a fancyish lounge type place. It was a very nice venue actually, and this was my first time there. Drinks are pricey, but they actually lit the stage pretty well, so they get bonus points for that. Up first was Joey Ryan, with a gentle, depressing acoustic set. His songs are well-written and pretty. His singing seems
A pretty big release week. No idea why. Metallica is putting their new one out... on Friday. Whatever floats their boat. And the posthumous release from Mitch Hedburg will be awesome. I'll definitely be checking out stuff from Calexico , Fujiya and Miyagi , Woven Hand , Mogwai and Jesu too. And probably Brian Welch album for a good laugh. :: A Static Lullaby , Rattlesnake! (Fearless) :: Aids Wolf [...]

Joshua Radin’s ability to make simplicity beautiful is what carried his debut album We Were Here to great heights. The way he can wear his heart on his sleeve and make it seen perfectly ok is what hooked his legion of fans. Well maybe that and Zach Braff's numerous uses of Radin songs in Scrubs and films. With a fitting name, the Ohio-born, Los Angeles-based musician’s new album Simple Times, takes a step in a new direction while staying lodged in his 'simplistic' roots. The first thing that stands out with [...]

Meiko I couldn't remember how I found her when my friends haven't even heard her music. And the last time I checked, I cant find a decent site with her name. That kinda sucks. Meiko is an indie-pop artist who recently released an album under the Myspace Records label earlier this August. Meiko is not new to the music scene- Meiko's last album was the #1 folk album on iTunes and got more than 200,000 downloads. Her sound consists of plucky guitars & lyrics alongside her pop beats, and coupled with her lovely youthful [...]
