Odd Future-ers Hodgy Beats and Domo Genesis have been trickling out a few leaks from a collaborative project over the last few weeks. But as is the way with the ever-prolific OFWGKTA lot, they like to confuse us older folks. Why the confusion? Well, the pair is known as MellowHigh. Not to be confused with MelloHype, Hodgy's partnership with fellow OFWGKTA-er Left Brain. Those crazy kids. Whatever will they come up with next. Hours later, at the Odd Future concert, unable to breathe amongst the craziest and most tightly packed crowd I have ever seen, I could not help but wonder the same question. In the words of OFWGKTA fringe player L-Boy: "Once upon a time there was this group of dusty-ass motherfuckers, create lidl group for theyselves. They call theyselves Odd Future ." When not perfecting kickflips atop Californian concrete they'd flip out verbally on erratic mixtapes which went on to receive ecstatic acclaim far beyond their native State. Linguistically filthy and impulsively derogatory, interest soon evanesced leaving the future of this multimedia-molesting collective indeed odd and altogether uncertain. Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, thankfully shortened to Odd Future for this release, is a hip-hop collective led by Tyler, the Creator , though I'm sure if you've heard anything about their crazy hype in the past year, you already know that - Tyler won MTV's Best New Artist award at the Video Music Awards this year for the crazy awesome video, Yonkers, off of Tyler's sophomore release Goblin. Odd Future returns with their new compilation, OF Tape Vol. 2 , on March 20th via Odd Future Records. As an early taste, check out "Rella" featuring Tyler, the Creator, Hodgy Beats, and Domo Genesis. Their stock may be falling , but the well-adjusted young people in the Odd Future rap collective are staying productive. The generally unhinged Hodgy Beats, for one, posted a couple of new songs on his Tumblr . One, "BKLYN," is a drifty solo track with production from one Thelonious Martin. The other, "Lift," is credited to MellowHigh, which would be MellowHype, Hodgy's duo with producer Left Brain, with fellow O.F. rapper Domo Genesis as well. Members of the Odd Future gang seem to be grinding hard these past few weeks and two new Hodgy Beats featuring tracks have appeared online over the past few days adding more evidence to the formwr statement. First up is a track titled "BKLYN" which features production credits from Thelonious Martin. Hodgy let the track loose via his usual method of hitting up his Tumblr page.
